1. Sit the child on a booster seat. Run the lap and shoulder belt through or around the booster seat and across the child following the instructions provided by its manufacturer and insert the tab into the buckle taking care not to twist the belt.


Make sure the shoulder belt is correctly across the child’s shoulder and that the lap belt is positioned as low as possible on the child’s hips. See “Seat belts” on page 43 in this Section for details.

The front passenger occupant classifica- tion indicator light should indicate “OFF” when the ignition key is in the “ON” posi- tion and the child is in the child restraint system after following these procedures. The “OFF” the SRS front passenger airbag and side airbag on the passenger side will not deploy. if the indicator light indicates “ON”, remove the child restraint system and reinstall it with the ignition key in the “ACC” or “LOCK” position. or CMVSS210.2 are installed in the right passenger’s seat- ing position. The anchorages are installed in the gap between the seat cushion and seatback of the right side of the seat as shown in the illustration. Child restraint systems complying with the FMVSS213 or CMVSS213 specification can be fixed to these anchorages. In this case, it is not necessary to fix the child restraint system with a seat belt on the vehicle.

Tilt and telescopic steering wheel

To adjust the steering wheel position, push down the lock release lever. Then tilt the steering wheel to the desired angle, push or pull it to the desired steering column length and pull up the lock release lever.

Adjust the mirror so that you can just see the side of your vehicle in the mir- ror. Be careful when judging the size or dis- tance of any object seen in the outside rear view mirror on the passenger’s side because it is a convex mirror. Any object seen in a convex mirror will look smaller and farther away than when seen in a flat mirror.

The rear view mirrors can be folded backward for parking in compact areas. To fold the rear view mirror, push back- ward.


CAUTION


Do not drive with the mirrors folded backward. Both the driver and pas- senger side rear view mirrors must be extended and properly adjusted before driving.


Adjust the mirror so that you can just see the rear of your vehicle in the mir- ror. To reduce glare from the headlights of the vehicle behind you during night driving, operate the lever on the lower edge of the mirror. Daylight driving—Lever at position 1
The reflection in the mirror has greater clarity at this position. Night driving—Lever at position 2
Remember that by reducing glare you also lose some rear view clarity.

Auto anti- glare inside rear view mirror

Adjust the mirror so that you can just see the rear of your vehicle in the mir- ror. This mirror is equipped with auto anti- glare function. The function is designed to reduce glare from the headlights of the vehicle behind you during night driving. When inserted and turned on, the inside rear view mirror al- ways turns on in the automatic function mode. The indicator illuminates to show you that the function is on.

In automatic function mode, if the mirror detects light from the headlights of the the mirror surface vehicle behind you, darkens slightly the reflected light. To turn off the automatic function, push the “OFF” switch. To turn on the automatic function again, push the “AUTO” switch. Adjust it before driving so that the rear view is in the best condition. When the inside air temperature is low, it may take a little longer for the mirror to darken the detection of headlights.
