Each received message can be read aloud and replied to using a fixed common phrase. 1Receiving a Text Message The system does not display any received messages while you are driving. You can only hear them read aloud. 1. A pop-up appears and notifies you of a new text message. 2. Rotate to select Yes to listen to the message, then press u The text message is displayed. The system automatically starts reading out the message. 3. To discontinue the message read-out, press the button. With some phones, you may be able to display up to 20 most recent text messages. If frozen solid, remove ice once it has softened. u When removing ice from around the wheels, be sure not to damage the wheel or wheel components. • Make sure the hood is securely closed. u If the hood opens while driving, your front view will be blocked. Index Home 208 1Exterior Checks NOTICE When doors are frozen shut, use warm water around the door edges to melt any ice. Do not try to force them open, as this can damage the rubber trim around the doors. When done, wipe dry to avoid further freezing. Do not pour warm water into the key cylinder. You will be unable to insert key if the water freezes in the hole. Heat from the engine and exhaust can ignite flammable materials left under the hood, causing a fire. If you’ve parked your vehicle for an extended period, inspect and remove any debris that may have collected, such as dried grass and leaves that have fallen or have been carried in for use as a nest by a small animal. See Tire and Loading Information label attached to the driver’s doorjamb. Label Example This figure includes the total weight of all occupants, cargo, and accessories, and the tongue load if you are towing a trailer. Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit - (1) Locate the statement “The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs.” on your vehicle’s placard. (2) Determine the combined weight of the driver and passengers that will be riding in your vehicle. (3) Subtract the combined weight of the driver and passengers from XXX kg or XXX lbs. (4) The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo and luggage load capacity. For example, if the “XXX” amount equals 1,400 lbs. and there will be five 150 lb. passengers in your vehicle, the amount of available cargo and luggage load capacity is 650 lbs. (1,400 - 750 (5 x 150) = 650 lbs.) Keep your foot firmly on the brake pedal when starting the engine. The engine is harder to start in cold weather and in thinner air found at altitudes above 8,000 feet (2,400 meters). When starting the engine in cold weather, turn off all electrical accessories such as the lights, climate control system, and rear defogger in order to reduce battery drain. If you live in a region where winter is extremely cold, an engine block heater will improve starting and warming of the engine. If temperatures consistently below -22°F (-30°C) are expected, the coolant mixture should be changed to a higher concentration to prevent freezing. Consult a dealer for details. If the exhaust system sounds abnormal or you can smell exhaust gas inside the vehicle, have your vehicle checked by a dealer. There may be a problem with the engine or exhaust system. Move the shift lever to (D or (L when facing uphill, or (R when facing downhill, then release the brake pedal. 1Hill start assist system Hill start assist may not prevent the vehicle from rolling downhill on a very steep or slippery slope, and will not operate on small inclines. Do not put the shift lever in (N, as you will lose engine braking (and acceleration) performance. During the first 600 miles (1,000 km) of operation, avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation so as not to damage the engine or powertrain. Avoid hard braking for the first 200 miles (300 km). You should also follow this when the brake pads are replaced. Operating the shift lever before the vehicle has come to a complete standstill can damage the transmission. Use the shift lever position indicator to check the lever position before pulling away. Whichever position the shift lever is in when driving, a blinking (D indicator indicates a transmission problem. Avoid sudden acceleration and have the transmission checked by a dealer as soon as possible. The fuel supply may be cut off if you drive at engine speeds in or over the tachometer’s red zone (engine speed limit). If this happens, you may experience a slight jolt. It may not be possible to operate the shift lever if the brake pedal is applied while the shift lever release button is pressed. The AUTO STOP indicator blinks at this time. The engine then restarts once the vehicle is about to move again, and the indicator goes off. If the driver’s door is opened while the indicator is blinking, a buzzer sounds to notify you that the Auto Idle Stop function is in operation. AUTO STOP Indicator 1Auto Idle Stop The duration of the Auto Idle Stop operation: • Increases in the ECON mode, compared to when the ECON mode is off, with climate control in use. • Decreases if you operate the wiper and climate control simultaneously. To increase speed To decrease speed • Each time you press the button, the vehicle speed is increased or decreased by about 1 mph (1.6 km/h). • If you keep the button pressed, the vehicle speed increases or decreases until you release it. Scratches, nicks, and other damage to the windshield within the FCW camera’s field of vision can cause the system to operate abnormally. If this occurs, we recommend that you replace the windshield with a genuine Honda replacement windshield. Making even minor repairs within the camera’s field of vision or installing an aftermarket replacement windshield may also cause the system to operate abnormally. After replacing the windshield, have a dealer recalibrate the camera. Proper calibration of the FCW camera is necessary for the system to operate properly. The camera is located behind the rearview mirror. Also, do not use a reflective sunshade that can concentrate heat on the camera. Condition ● The distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you is too short. ● A vehicle cuts in front of you at a slow speed, and it brakes suddenly. ● A vehicle suddenly crosses in front of you. ● When either your vehicle or the vehicle ahead of you accelerates rapidly. ● The vehicle ahead of you is a motorcycle, a small vehicle, or a unique vehicle such as a tractor. ● When you drive off-road or on a mountain road, or curved and winding road for an extended period that makes it difficult for the camera to properly detect a vehicle in front of you. ● When there are pedestrians or animals in front of your vehicle. ● When you drive in bad weather (rain, fog, etc.). ● A heavy load in the rear or modifications to the suspension tilts your vehicle. ● An abnormal tire condition is detected (wrong tire size, flat tire, etc.). ● When the windshield is blocked by dirt, mud, leaves, wet snow, etc. ● When the temperature inside the system is high. ● A sudden change between light and dark such as an entrance or exit of a tunnel. ● You drive into the sunlight (e.g. at dawn or dusk). ● When the windshield is dirty or cloudy. ● When streetlights are perceived as the taillight of a vehicle in front of yours. ● When driving at night, the vehicle ahead of you is running with either taillight bulb burned out. ● When you drive in the shadows of trees, buildings, etc. * Not available on all models QRG TOC Index Home 231 13 CIVIC HYBRID-31TR26100.book 232 ページ２０１２年１２月１８日　火曜日　午後２時５９分 uuWhen DrivinguLane Departure Warning (LDW) * QRG Lane Departure Warning (LDW)* Alerts you when the system detects a possibility of your vehicle unintentionally crossing over detected lane markings. ■ How the System Works If your vehicle is getting too close to detected left or right side lane markings without a turn signal activated, LDW will give audible and visual alerts. The beeper sounds and the Lane Departure message appears on the intelligent multi- information display (i-MID), letting you know that you need to take appropriate action. 1Lane Departure Warning (LDW)* Important Safety Reminder Like all assistance systems, LDW has limitations. Over-reliance on LDW may result in a collision. It is always your responsibility to keep the vehicle within your driving lane. It also assists in maintaining traction on slippery surfaces. It does so by regulating engine output and selectively applying the brakes. ■ VSA® Operation VSA® System Indicator When VSA® activates, you may notice that the engine does not respond to the accelerator. You may also notice some noise from the hydraulic system. You will also see the indicator blink. 1Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®), aka Electronic Stability Control (ESC), System The VSA® may not function properly if tire type and size are mixed. Make sure to use the same size and type of tire, and the air pressures as specified. When the VSA® indicator comes on and stays on while driving, there may be a problem with the system. While this may not interfere with normal driving, have your vehicle checked by a dealer immediately. VSA® cannot enhance stability in all driving situations and does not control the entire braking system. You still need to drive and corner at speeds appropriate for the conditions and always leave a sufficient margin of safety. The main function of the VSA® system is generally known as Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The system also includes a traction control function.
