HOW TO USE THE BACK BUTTON This button has two functions. c Go back to the previous display (cancel). SETTING UP THE START-UP SCREEN When you turn the ignition key to ACC or ON, the system start-up warning is displayed on the screen. Read the warning and select the (cid:147)OK(cid:148) key by pressing the ENTER button. If you do not press the ENTER button, the Navi- gation system will not proceed to the next step in the Navigation display. If you do not touch a button or screen key for more than 1 minute on the system start-up warn- ing screen, the screen will change to the audio screen automatically. Fuel economy Press the TRIP button to display Average Fuel Economy and Distance To Empty. Average fuel economy (MPG or L/100 km)

The Average Fuel Economy is calculated based on fuel consumption since the last reset. The display is updated every 30 seconds and 1/3
mile (500 m). After a reset or connecting the battery cables, the display will show (**.*).

Resetting fuel economy The average fuel economy calculation can be reset to 0. Press the TRIP button repeatedly until the FUEL ECONOMY menu is shown, then ei- ther: c Select the (cid:147)Reset(cid:148) key on screen by press-

Distance to empty (MI or km) The Distance To Empty (DTE) mode provides you with an estimation of the distance that can be driven before refueling. The DTE is constantly calculated based on the amount of fuel in the fuel tank and the actual fuel consumption. The display is updated every 30 seconds. When the fuel level is low, the DTE display will change to (*).

NOTE: c If the amount of fuel added while the ignition switch is OFF is small, the display just before the ignition switch is turned OFF may con- tinue to be displayed.

c When driving uphill or rounding curves, the fuel in the tank shifts, which may momentarily change the display.

Changing the maintenance interval Select the (cid:147)Engine Oil(cid:148) or (cid:147)Tire Rotation(cid:148) key using the joystick and press the ENTER button to display the screen to change the maintenance interval. c The maintenance interval is set again.

Tire pressure rises and falls depending on the heat caused by the vehicle(cid:146)s operation and the outside temperature. In case of low tire pressure, a message is dis- played on the screen: LOW PRESSURE (cid:151) Check All Tires.

WARNING

c When a spare tire is mounted or a wheel is replaced, tire pressure will not be indicated, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) will not function and the low tire pressure warning light will flash. Contact your NISSAN dealer as soon as possible for tire replacement and/or system resetting.

REARVIEW MONITOR (if so equipped)

When the selector lever is shifted into the R (Reverse) position, the monitor display shows view to the rear of the vehicle.

WARNING

c The system is designed as an aid to the driver in detecting large stationary ob- jects to help avoid damaging the ve- hicle. The system will not detect small objects below the bumper, and may not detect objects close to the bumper or on the ground.

c The rear view camera is a convenience but it is not a substitute for proper back- ing. Always turn and check that it is safe to do so before backing up. Always back up slowly.

c Objects viewed in the rear view monitor differ from actual distance because a wide-angle lens is used.

c Make sure that the lift gate is securely

closed when backing up.

c Do not put anything on the rear view camera. The rear view camera is in- stalled beside the license plate light.

c When washing the vehicle with high- pressure water, be sure not to spray it around the camera. Otherwise, water may enter the camera unit causing wa- ter condensation on the lens, a mal- function, fire or an electric shock.

c Do not strike the camera. It is a preci- sion instrument. Otherwise, it may mal- function or cause damage resulting in a fire or an electric shock.

CAUTION

There is a plastic cover over the camera. Do not scratch the cover when cleaning dirt or snow from the cover. HOW TO READ THE DISPLAYED LINES Lines which indicate the vehicle clearance and distances to objects with reference to the bumper line sA are displayed on the monitor.

ADJUSTING THE SCREEN To adjust the quality of the screen, refer to (cid:147)HOW TO USE THE SETTING BUTTON(cid:148) in this section. c When it is difficult to see in the rearward direction due to shady conditions, press the ENTER button to make objects in the moni- tor brighter.

c To change the brightness, press the ENTER button again, turn the key switch OFF or shift to R (Reverse) and wait for 10 seconds.

OPERATING TIPS c When the selector lever is shifted to R (Re- verse), the monitor screen automatically changes to the rearview monitor mode. However, the radio can be heard.

SERVICING AIR CONDITIONER

AUDIO SYSTEM

The air conditioner system in your NISSAN ve- hicle is charged with a refrigerant designed with the environment in mind. This refrigerant does not harm the earth(cid:146)s ozone layer. Special charging equipment and lubricant is re- quired when servicing your NISSAN air condi- tioner. Using improper refrigerants or lubricants will cause severe damage to your air conditioner system. See (cid:147)Air conditioner system refrigerant and lubricant recommendations(cid:148) in the (cid:147)Techni- cal and consumer information(cid:148) section of this manual. A NISSAN dealer is able to service your (cid:147)environ- mentally friendly(cid:148) air conditioning system.

WARNING

The air conditioner system contains re- frigerant under high pressure. To avoid personal injury, any air conditioner ser- vice should be done only by an experi- enced technician with proper equipment.

RADIO Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position and press the POWER/VOLUME control knob to turn the radio on. If you listen to the radio with the engine not running, the key should be turned to the ACC position.

Radio reception is affected by station signal strength, distance from radio transmitter, build- ings, bridges, mountains and other external influ- ences. Intermittent changes in reception quality normally are caused by these external influences. Using a cellular phone in or near the ve- hicle may influence radio reception quality. Radio reception Your NISSAN radio system is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic circuits to enhance ra- dio reception. These circuits are designed to extend reception range, and to enhance the qual- ity of that reception.

However there are some general characteristics of both FM and AM radio signals that can affect radio reception quality in a moving vehicle, even when the finest equipment is used. These char- acteristics are completely normal in a given re- ception area, and do not indicate any malfunction in your NISSAN radio system.

the vehicle outside of any metal or large building for satellite radio to receive all of the necessary data. No satellite radio reception is available and (cid:147)NO SAT(cid:148) is displayed when the SAT band option is selected unless optional satellite receiver and antenna are installed and an XMT or SIRIUS(cid:153) satellite radio service subscription is active. Sat- ellite radio is not available in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam. Satellite radio performance may be affected if cargo carried on the roof blocks the satellite radio signal. If possible, do not put cargo over the satellite antenna.

Reception conditions will constantly change be- cause of vehicle movement. Buildings, terrain, signal distance and interference from other ve- hicles can work against ideal reception. De- scribed below are some of the factors that can affect your radio reception. FM RADIO RECEPTION Range: FM range is normally limited to 25 (cid:150) 30
miles (40 (cid:150) 48 km), with monaural (single chan- nel) FM having slightly more range than stereo FM. External influences may sometimes interfere with FM station reception even if the FM station is within 25 miles (40 km). The strength of the FM signal is directly related to the distance between the transmitter and receiver. FM signals follow a line-of-sight path, exhibiting many of the same characteristics as light. For example, they will reflect off objects.

Fade and drift: As your vehicle moves away from a station transmitter, the signals will tend to fade and/or drift.

Static and flutter: During signal interference from buildings, large hills or due to antenna position (usually in conjunction with increased distance from the station transmitter) static or flutter can be heard. This can be reduced by adjusting the treble control to reduce treble response.

Multipath reception: Because of the reflective characteristics of FM signals, direct and reflected signals reach the receiver at the same time. The signals may cancel each other, resulting in mo- mentary flutter or loss of sound. AM RADIO RECEPTION AM signals, because of their low frequency, can bend around objects and skip along the ground. In addition, the signals can be bounced off the ionosphere and bent back to earth. Because of these characteristics, AM signals are also sub- ject to interference as they travel from transmitter to receiver.

Fading: Occurs while the vehicle is passing through freeway underpasses or in areas with many tall buildings. It can also occur for several seconds during ionospheric turbulence even in areas where no obstacles exist.

Static: Caused by thunderstorms, electrical power lines, electric signs and even traffic lights. SATELLITE RADIO RECEPTION (if so equipped) When the satellite radio is first installed or the battery has been replaced, the satellite radio may not work properly. This is not a malfunction. Wait more than 10 minutes with satellite radio ON and

c ID3 tag (cid:151) The ID3 tag is the part of the encoded MP3 file that contains information about the digital music file such as song title, artist, album title, encoding bit rate, track time duration, etc. ID3 tag information is displayed on the Album/Artist/Track title line on the display.

Files with extensions other than (cid:147).MP3(cid:148), (cid:147).mp3(cid:148) or (cid:147).wma(cid:148) cannot be played. In addition, the character codes and number of characters for folder names and file names should be in compliance with the specifications. Check if the disc is scratched or dirty. Bit rate may be too low. If there are many folders or file levels on the MP3 disc, or if it is a multisession disc, some time may be required before the music starts playing.

The writing software and hardware combination might not match, or the writing speed, writing depth, writing width, etc., might not match the specifications. Try using the slowest writing speed. Skipping may occur with large quantities of data, such as for high bit rate data.

When a non-MP3 file has been given an extension of (cid:147).MP3(cid:148) or (cid:147).mp3(cid:148), or when play is prohibited by copyright protection, there will be approximately 5
seconds of no sound and then the player will skip to the next song. The playback order is the order in which the files were written by the writing software. Therefore, the files might not play in the desired order.

Press the AUDIO button to change the mode as follows:

BASS ! MID ! TREBLE ! FADE ! BALANCE ! SSV (if so equipped) To adjust Bass, Mid, Treble, Fade and Balance, press the AUDIO button until the desired mode appears in the display. Press the TUNE button to adjust Bass, Mid and Treble to the desired level. You can also use the TUNE Button to adjust Fader and Balance modes. Fader adjusts the sound level between the front and rear speakers and Balance adjusts the sound between the right and left speakers.

To change the SSV mode to OFF, LOW, MID or HIGH, press the TUNE button.

Once you have adjusted the sound quality to the desired level, press the AUDIO button repeatedly until the radio or CD display reappears. Other- wise, the radio or CD display will automatically reappear after about 10 seconds.
