Notes on climate control system The climate control system is operational whenever the engine is running. You can operate the climate control system in either the automatic or manual mode. The system cools or heats the interior depending on the selected interior temperature.

It can only function optimally when you are driving with the windows, the tilt/sliding sunroof or tilt/sliding panel closed. Nearly all dust particles, pollutants and odors are filtered out before outside air enters the passenger compartment through the air distribution system.

Loading and storing Loading instructions G Warning! Always fasten items being carried as securely as possible using fastening materials appropriate for the weight and size of the load. In an accident, during hard braking or sudden maneuvers, loose items will be thrown around inside the vehicle. This can cause injury to vehicle occupants unless the items are securely fastened in the vehicle. To help avoid personal injury during a collision or sudden maneuver, exercise care when transporting cargo. Do not pile luggage or cargo higher than the seat backrests.

The trunk is the preferred place to carry objects. Do not place anything on the rear- window shelf. Never drive a vehicle with the trunk open. Deadly carbon monoxide (CO) gases may enter vehicle interior resulting in unconsciousness and death.

Load distribution

The total load weight including vehicle occupants and luggage/cargo should not exceed the total load limit indicated on the corresponding Tire and Loading Information placard located on the driver’s door B-pillar (Y page 238). The handling characteristics of a fully loaded vehicle depend greatly on the load distribution. It is therefore recommended to load the vehicle according to the illustration shown. The heaviest items are to be placed towards the front of the vehicle. i The enlarged cargo area should only be used for items which do not fit in the trunk alone.

Please pay attention to and comply with the following instructions when loading the vehicle and transporting cargo: RAlways place items being carried against front or rear seat backrests, and fasten them as securely as possible.

RThe heaviest portion of the cargo should always be kept as low as possible against front or rear seat backrests.
