2 Service refill capacity is determined by filling the transfer case to the bottom of the filler hole with the vehicle on a level surface. 3 Ensure the correct automatic transmission fluid is used. Transmission fluid requirements are indicated on the dipstick or on the dipstick handle. Check the container to verify the fluid being added is of the correct type. Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide to determine the correct service interval. Some transmission fluids may be labeled as dual usage, such as MERCONt and MERCONt V. These dual usage fluids are not to be used in an automatic transmission that requires use of the MERCONt type fluid. However, these dual usage fluids may be used in transmissions that require the MERCONt V type fluid. MERCONt and MERCONt V type fluids are not interchangeable. DO NOT mix MERCONt and MERCONt V. Use of a transmission fluid that indicates dual usage (MERCONt and MERCONt V) in an automatic transmission application requiring MERCONt may cause transmission damage. Use of any fluid other than the recommended fluid may cause transmission damage. 4 Indicates only approximate dry-fill capacity. Some applications may vary based on cooler size and if equipped with an in-tank cooler. The amount of transmission fluid and fluid level should be set by the indication on the dipstick’s normal operating range. 5 Your vehicle’s rear axle is filled with a synthetic rear axle lubricant and is considered lubricated for life. These lubricants do not need to be checked or changed unless a leak is suspected, service is required or the axle assembly has been submerged in water. The axle lubricant should be changed any time the rear axle has been submerged in water. 6 Service refill capacity is determined by filling the axle to 6-14 mm (1/4-9/16 inch) below the bottom of the filler hole with the vehicle on a level surface. Add 118 ml (4 oz.) of Additive Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification EST-M2C118–A, for complete fill of 8.8 inch and 9.75 inch Traction-Lok axles. 7 Service refill capacity is determined by filling the axle to the bottom of the filler hole with the vehicle on a level surface. For 10.25 inch Traction-Lok axles, use 3.1L (6.5 pints) of Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant and 236 ml (8 oz.) of Additive

Getting the service you need At home Ford Motor Company and Ford of Canada have authorized dealerships to service your vehicle. When you need warranty repairs your selling dealer would like you to return to it for that service, but you may also take your vehicle to another Ford Motor Company or Ford of Canada dealership authorized for warranty repairs. Certain warranty repairs require special training though, so not all dealers are authorized to perform all warranty repairs. That means that depending on the warranty repair needed, the vehicle may need to be taken to another dealer. In the United States, a warranty dispute must be submitted to the Dispute Settlement Board before taking action under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, or to the extent allowed by state law, before pursuing replacement or repurchase remedies provided by certain state laws. Concerns are ineligible for review if the New Vehicle Limited Warranty has expired at receipt of your application and, in certain states eligibility is dependent upon the customer’s possession of the vehicle. UTILIZING THE MEDIATION/ARBITRATION PROGRAM (CANADA ONLY) In those cases where you continue to feel that the efforts by Ford and the dealer to resolve a factory-related vehicle service concern have been unsatisfactory, Ford of Canada participates in an impartial third party mediation/arbitration program administered by the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP). The CAMVAP program is a straight-forward and relatively speedy alternative to resolve a disagreement when all other efforts to produce a settlement have failed. This procedure is without cost to you and is designed to eliminate the need for lengthy and expensive legal proceedings. In the CAMVAP program, impartial third-party arbitrators conduct hearings at mutually convenient times and places in an informal environment. These impartial arbitrators review the positions of the parties, make decisions and, when appropriate, render awards to resolve disputes. CAMVAP decisions are fast, fair, and final; the arbitrator’s award is binding both to you and Ford of Canada. CAMVAP services are available in all territories and provinces, except Quebec. GETTING ASSISTANCE OUTSIDE THE U.S. AND CANADA Before exporting your vehicle to a foreign country, contact the appropriate foreign embassy or consulate. REPORTING SAFETY DEFECTS (U.S. ONLY) If you believe that your vehicle has a defect that could cause a crash, or could cause injury or death, you should immediately inform the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in addition to notifying Ford Motor Company. 1 Use Ford Premium Engine Coolant (green in color). DO NOT USE Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant (orange in color). Refer to Adding engine coolant, in the Maintenance and Care chapter. 2 Ensure the correct automatic transmission fluid is used. Transmission fluid requirements are indicated on the dipstick or on the dipstick handle. Check the container to verify the fluid being added is of the correct type. Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide to determine the correct service interval. Some transmission fluids may be labeled as dual usage, such as MERCONt and MERCONt V. These dual usage fluids are not to be used in an automatic transmission that requires use of the MERCONt type fluid. However, these dual usage fluids may be used in transmissions that require the MERCONt V type fluid. MERCONt and MERCONt V type fluids are not interchangeable. DO NOT mix MERCONt and MERCONt V. Use of a transmission fluid that indicates dual usage (MERCONt and MERCONt V) in an automatic transmission application requiring MERCONt may cause transmission damage. Use of any fluid other than the recommended fluid may cause transmission damage.
