For more detailed information, refer to each of the features which can be found later in this owner manual. Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System The RKE transmitter may work up to 60 m (195 ft) away from the vehicle. ii Press the key release button to extend the key blade. The key can be used for the ignition, if equipped, and all locks. Press K to unlock the driver door or all doors. Press Q to lock all doors. Lock and unlock feedback can be personalized. See Vehicle Personalization 0 122 Press and hold Y to open the trunk. Press and hold 7 briefly to initiate vehicle locator. Press and hold 7 for at least three seconds to sound the panic alarm. Press 7 again to cancel the panic alarm. See Keys 0 24 Entry (RKE) System Operation 0 26 and Remote Keyless ii ii Remote Vehicle Start If equipped, the engine can be started from outside of the vehicle. Starting the Vehicle 1. Press and release Q on the 2. RKE transmitter. Immediately press and hold / for at least four seconds or until the turn signal lamps flash. 3. Start the vehicle normally after entering. When the vehicle starts, the parking lamps will turn on. Remote start can be extended. Canceling a Remote Start To cancel a remote start, do one of the following: . Press and hold / until the parking lamps turn off. . Turn on the hazard warning flashers. . Turn the vehicle on and then off. From inside the vehicle, use the power door lock switch. Never leave keys in a vehicle with children. When there are children in the rear seat, use the window lockout button to prevent operation of the windows. When the doors are locked and the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the driver door handle, press the lock/unlock button. When unlocking K : Press to unlock the doors. Seat Height Adjuster ii Seat Adjustment Manual Front Seats If available, move the lever up or down to manually raise or lower the seat. See Seat Adjustment 0 48 ii To adjust a manual seat: 1. Pull the handle at the front of the seat. To recline the seatback: 1. Lift the lever. 2. Move the seatback to the desired position, then release the lever to lock the seatback in place. 3. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked. To return the seatback to an upright position: 1. Lift the lever fully without applying pressure to the seatback, and the seatback returns to the upright position. For detailed instructions, see Rear Seats 0 52 ii ii Heated Seats To adjust a power driver seat, if equipped: . Move the seat forward or rearward by sliding the control forward or rearward. . Raise or lower the front part of the seat cushion by moving the front of the control up or down. . Raise or lower the entire seat by moving the rear of the control up or down. If available, the controls are on the center stack. The engine must be running to operate the heated seats. Press L or M to heat the driver or passenger seat cushion and seatback. In Brief 11 Press the control once for the highest setting. With each press of the control, the heated seat will change to the next lower setting, and then the off setting. Three lights indicate the highest setting and one light the lowest. See Heated Front Seats 0 50 ii Head Restraint Adjustment Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly. To achieve a comfortable seating position, change the seatback recline angle as little as necessary while keeping the seat and the head restraint height in the proper position. Manual Rearview Mirror If equipped with a manual rearview mirror, push the tab forward for daytime use and pull it for nighttime use to avoid glare from the headlamps from behind. See Manual Rearview Mirror 0 42 ii Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror If equipped with an automatic dimming rearview mirror, the mirror will automatically reduce the glare of headlamps from behind. Pull the lever down. 2. Move the steering wheel up or down. 3. Pull or push the steering wheel closer or away from you. 4. Push the lever up to lock the steering wheel in place. Do not adjust the steering wheel while driving. Instrument Panel Illumination Control The dome lamp controls are in the headliner. * : Press to turn the lamps off, even when a door is open. I : Press to turn the lamps on automatically when a door is opened. + : Press to turn on the dome lamps. This feature controls the brightness of the instrument panel controls and infotainment display screen. The thumbwheel is located to the left of the steering column on the instrument panel. D : Turn the thumbwheel up or down and hold, to brighten or dim the instrument panel controls and infotainment display screen. Exterior Lighting The exterior lamp control is to the left of the steering column on the instrument panel. O : Briefly turn to this position to turn the automatic lamp control off or on again. With the ignition in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN/START, move the lever to select the wiper speed. HI : Use for fast wipes. LO : Use for slow wipes. In Brief 15 INT : Move the lever up to INT for intermittent wipes, then turn the x INT band up for more frequent wipes or down for less frequent wipes. OFF : Use to turn the wipers off. 1X : For a single wipe, briefly move the lever down. For several wipes, hold the lever down. n L : Pull the lever toward you to spray windshield washer fluid and activate the wipers. If cruise control is already active, use to increase vehicle speed. 2. w / x : Use the band to scroll through the items in each menu. 3. MENU: Press to display the DIC menus. This button is also used to return to or exit the last screen displayed on the DIC. See Driver Information Center (DIC) 0 112 ii Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) If equipped, SBZA will detect moving vehicles in the next lane over in the vehicle's side blind zone area. When this happens, the SBZA display will light up in the corresponding outside side mirror and will flash if the turn signal is on. See Rear Vision Camera (RVC) 0 203 ii Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) System If equipped, the RCTA system uses a triangle with an arrow displayed on the RVC screen to warn of traffic behind your vehicle that may cross your vehicle's path while in R (Reverse). In addition, beeps will sound. See “Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)” under Rear Vision Camera (RVC) 0 203 ii Parking Assist If equipped, Rear Parking Assist (RPA) uses sensors on the rear bumper to assist with parking and avoiding objects while in R (Reverse). It operates at speeds less than 8 km/h (5 mph) and uses audible beeps to provide distance and system information. Keep the sensors on the vehicle's rear bumper clean to ensure proper operation. See Parking Assist 0 205 ii Power Outlets The accessory power outlets can be used to plug in electrical equipment, such as a cell phone or MP3 player. There is one accessory power outlet located on the center floor console and one on the rear of the center floor console. These outlets are powered when the key is in ON/ RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY, or until the driver door is opened within 10 minutes of turning off the vehicle. The system turns on automatically every time the vehicle is started. The StabiliTrak system assists with directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions. The system also turns on automatically every time the vehicle is started. . To turn off traction control, press and release the g button on the center console. The traction off light i illuminates. . To turn off both traction control and StabiliTrak, press and hold the g button, until the traction off light i and the StabiliTrak OFF light g illuminate. See Traction Control/Electronic Stability Control 0 199 ii Tire Pressure Monitor This vehicle may have a Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS). The low tire pressure warning light alerts to a significant loss in pressure of one of the vehicle's tires. If the warning light comes on, stop as soon as possible and inflate the tires to the recommended pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label. See . The Vehicle Load Limits 0 177 warning light will remain on until the tire pressure is corrected. ii The low tire pressure warning light may come on in cool weather when the vehicle is first started, and then turn off as the vehicle is driven. This may be an early indicator that the tire pressures are getting low and the tires need to be inflated to the proper pressure. The TPMS does not replace normal monthly tire maintenance. Maintain the correct tire pressures. See Tire Pressure Monitor System 0 263 ii Engine Oil Life System The engine oil life system calculates engine oil life based on vehicle use and displays the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON DIC message when it is necessary to change the engine oil and filter. Remember, the Oil Life display must be reset after each oil change. It will not reset itself. Also, be careful not to reset the Oil Life display accidentally at any time other than when the oil has just been changed. It cannot be reset accurately until the next oil change. To reset the engine oil life system press the SET/CLR button while the Oil Life display is active. Resetting the Oil Life System 1. Using the DIC MENU button and thumbwheel, scroll until you reach REMAINING OIL LIFE on the DIC (: % for Canada). 2. Press the SET/CLR button to reset the oil life at 100%. When prompted, use the thumbwheel to highlight YES or NO. Press the SET/CLR button to confirm. Be careful not to reset the oil life display accidentally at any time other than after the oil is changed. It cannot be reset accurately. They could operate the power window or other controls or make the vehicle move. The windows will function with the key in the ignition or with the RKE transmitter in the vehicle, and children or others could be caught in the path of a closing window. Do not leave children in a vehicle with the ignition key or an RKE transmitter. To reduce the risk of unintentional rotation of the ignition key, do not change the way the ignition key and Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter, if equipped, are connected to the provided key rings. If the vehicle is equipped with a keyed ignition, the ignition key, key rings, and RKE transmitter, if equipped, are designed to work together. As a system, it reduces the risk of unintentionally moving the key out of the RUN position. If replacements or additions are required, see your dealer. Limit added items to a few essential keys or small, light items no larger than an RKE transmitter. Interference from radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags may prevent the key from starting the vehicle. Keep RFID tags away from the key when starting the vehicle. The key that is part of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter can be used for the ignition and all locks if the vehicle is a Key access vehicle. If the vehicle has the keyless ignition, the key can be used for the locks. { Warning If the key is unintentionally rotated while the vehicle is running, the ignition could be moved out of the RUN position. This could be caused by heavy items hanging from the key ring, or by large or long items attached to the key ring that could be contacted by the driver or steering wheel. See OnStar Overview 0 336 ii Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System See Radio Frequency Statement 0 333 If there is a decrease in the RKE operating range: . Check the distance. The ii transmitter may be too far from the vehicle. . Check the location. Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal. . Check the transmitter's battery. See “Battery Replacement” later in this section. If the transmitter is still not working correctly, see your dealer or a qualified technician for service. Press the button on the RKE transmitter to extend the key. Press the button and the key blade to retract the key. If it becomes difficult to turn the key, inspect the key blade for debris. Periodically clean with a brush or pick. See your dealer if a new key is needed. If locked out of the vehicle, see Roadside Assistance Program 0 327 ii Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation The Keyless Access system allows for vehicle entry when the transmitter is within range. See “Keyless Access Operation” later in this section. The transmitter functions may work up to 60 m (195 ft) away from the vehicle. Keep in mind that other conditions, such as those previously stated, can impact the performance of the transmitter. The turn signal indicators may flash and/or the horn may sound on the second press to indicate locking. See Vehicle Personalization 0 122 If the driver door is open when Q is pressed, all doors and the driver door will immediately unlock, if Unlocked Door Anti Lock Out is enabled through the vehicle personalization. If the passenger door is open when Q is pressed, all doors lock. Pressing Q may also arm the alarm system. See Vehicle Alarm System 0 38 K (Unlock) : Press to unlock the driver door or all doors. See Vehicle Personalization 0 122 The turn signal indicators may flash to indicate unlocking. See Vehicle Personalization 0 122 Pressing K will disarm the alarm system. See Vehicle Alarm System 0 38 ii ii ii ii Y (Remote Trunk Release) : Press and hold to release the trunk. 7 (Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm) : Press and hold briefly to initiate vehicle locator. The exterior lamps flash and the horn chirps three times. Press and hold 7 for at least three seconds to sound the panic alarm. The horn sounds and the turn signals flash for 30 seconds, or until 7 is pressed again or the vehicle is started. / (Remote Vehicle Start) : If equipped, press and release Q and then immediately press and hold / for at least four seconds to start the engine from outside the vehicle using the RKE transmitter. See Remote Vehicle Start 0 32 The RKE transmitter buttons will not operate when the key is in the ignition. ii Keyless Access Operation The Keyless Access system allows for the doors and trunk to be locked and unlocked without pressing the RKE transmitter button. The RKE transmitter must be within 1 m (3 ft) of the door being opened. If the vehicle has this feature, there will be a button on the outside door handles. Keyless Access can be programmed to unlock all doors on the first lock/unlock press from the driver door. See Vehicle Personalization 0 122 ii Keyless Unlocking/Locking from the Driver Door When the doors are locked and the RKE transmitter is within range of the door handle, pressing the lock/ unlock button on the driver door handle will unlock the driver door. If the lock/unlock button is pressed again within five seconds, all passenger doors will unlock. Pressing the lock/unlock button will cause all doors to lock if any of the following occur: . The lock/unlock button was used to unlock all doors. . Any vehicle door has been opened and all doors are now closed. Passive Locking If equipped with Keyless Access, the vehicle will lock several seconds after all doors are closed if the vehicle is off and at least one RKE transmitter has been removed or none remain in the vehicle. If other electronic devices interfere with the RKE transmitter signal, the vehicle may not detect the RKE transmitter inside the vehicle. If passive locking is enabled, the doors may lock with the RKE transmitter inside the vehicle. Do not leave the RKE transmitter in an unattended vehicle. To customize the doors to automatically lock when exiting the vehicle, see Vehicle Personalization 0 122 ii Temporary Disable of Passive Locking Feature Temporarily disable the passive locking by pressing and holding K on the interior door switch with a door open for at least four seconds, or until three chimes are heard. Passive locking will then remain disabled until Q on the interior door is pressed, or until the vehicle is turned on. Keyless Trunk Opening Press the touch pad on the rear of the trunk above the license plate to open the trunk when the RKE transmitter is in range. Key Access To access a vehicle with a dead transmitter battery, see Door Locks 0 34 ii Driver Side Shown, Passenger Similar Pressing the lock/unlock button will cause all doors to lock if any of the following occur: It has been more than five seconds since the first lock/ unlock button press. . Two lock/unlock button presses were used to unlock all doors. . Any vehicle door has been opened and all doors are now closed. If a transmitter is lost or stolen, a replacement can be purchased and programmed through your dealer. The vehicle can be reprogrammed so that lost or stolen transmitters no longer work. Any remaining transmitters will need to be reprogrammed. Each vehicle can have up to eight transmitters matched to it. Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only) To program a new key: 1. Insert the original, already programmed key in the ignition and turn the key to the ON/ RUN position. 2. Turn the key to LOCK/OFF, 3. and remove the key. Insert the new key to be programmed and turn it to the ON/RUN position within five seconds. The security light will turn off once the key has been programmed. 4. Repeat Steps 1–3 if additional keys are to be programmed. If a key is lost or damaged, see your dealer to have a new key made. Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only) Program a new key to the vehicle when a recognized key is not available. Canadian regulations require that owners see their dealer. If there are no currently recognized keys available, follow this procedure to program the first key. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete for the first key. The vehicle must be off and all of the keys you wish to program must be with you. 1. Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition. 2. Turn to ON/RUN. The security light will come on. 3. Wait 10 minutes until the security light turns off. 4. Turn the ignition to LOCK/OFF. 5. Repeat Steps 2–4 two more times. After the third time, turn to ON/RUN; the key is learned and all previously known keys will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining keys can be learned by following the procedure in “Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only).” Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only) A new transmitter can be programmed to the vehicle when there is one recognized transmitter. To program, the vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters, both currently recognized and new, must be with you. Remove the recognized key and place the new transmitter into the transmitter slot. 4. Press the ENGINE START/ STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter. 5. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press K. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3–5. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/ STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode. Replace the plastic trim piece from the small storage area. Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only) If there are no currently recognized transmitters available, follow this procedure to program up to five transmitters. This feature is not available in Canada. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters you wish to program must be with you. 1. Insert the vehicle key of the transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver door and turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT. 2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN and then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. 1. Remove the plastic trim piece from the small storage area next to the accessory power outlet toward the front of the console, to access the transmitter slot. Press the button on the recognized transmitter to extend the key blade. Insert the key blade into the transmitter slot. Insert the vehicle key of the new transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver door and turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. 2.
