c In case you notice any foreign object in the system hardware, spill liquid on it, or notice smoke or smell coming from it, stop using the system immediately and contact your nearest NISSAN dealer. Ignoring such conditions may lead to accidents, fire or electrical shock.

To change the display brightness, push the button. Pushing the button again will change the display to DAY or NIGHT display. Then, adjust the brightness moving the joystick right or left.

If no operation is done within 10 seconds, or if the (cid:147)BACK(cid:148) button is pushed, the display will return to the previous display.

SETTING UP THE START-UP SCREEN When you turn the ignition key to ACC or ON, the SYSTEM START-UP warning is displayed on the screen. Read the warning and select the (cid:147)I AGREE(cid:148) (English) or (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) (Fran(cid:231)ais) key then push the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button. If you do not push the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button, the Navigation system will not proceed to the next step display. Tire pressure information To view (cid:147)TIRE PRESSURE(cid:148) information, push the (cid:147)TRIP(cid:148) button repeatedly until the (cid:147)MAINTE- NANCE(cid:148) screen is displayed. Select (cid:147)TIRE PRESSURE(cid:148) using the joystick and push the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button.

Pressure indication in ** psi on the screen indi- cates that the pressure is being measured. After a few driving trips, the pressure for each tire will be displayed randomly.

The order of tire pressure figures displayed on the screen does not correspond with the actual order of the tire position.

Tire pressure rises and falls depending on the heat caused by the vehicle(cid:146)s operation and the outside temperature. In case of low tire pressure, a message is dis- played on the screen: FLAT TIRE (cid:151) Check All Tires.

WARNING

When a spare tire is mounted or a wheel is replaced, tire pressure will not be indi- cated and the low tire pressure warning system will not function. Contact your NISSAN dealer as soon as possible for tire replacement and/or system resetting.

SETTING THE DISPLAY (Audio or HVAC display): The audio or HVAC reading can be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Choose the (cid:147)Audio(cid:148) or (cid:147)HVAC(cid:148) (Heater and air conditioner) key to be displayed at the bottom, by using the joystick and pressing the ENTER button to select or deselect the key. The setting condition will normally appear on the screen. To return to the setting screen, push the (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button or (cid:147)BACK(cid:148) button. To turn on the screen, push the (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button and select the (cid:147)Display(cid:148) key and (cid:147)Dis- play Off(cid:148) key, then set the screen to on by pushing the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button. The GPS time (manual time) corresponding to the selected zone will be displayed. Pacific zone has been set as the initial (default) setting. Beep setting With this option ON, a beep will sound if any audio button is pushed.

BUTTON

REARVIEW MONITOR (if so equipped)

When the selector lever is shifted into the R (Reverse) position, the monitor display shows view to the rear of the vehicle.

WARNING

c The system is designed as an aid to the driver in detecting large stationary ob- jects to help avoid damaging the ve- hicle. The system will not detect small objects below the bumper, and may not detect objects close to the bumper or on the ground.

c The rear view camera is a convenience but it is not a substitute for proper back- ing. Always turn and check that it is safe to do so before backing up. Always back up slowly.

c Objects viewed in the rear view monitor differ from actual distance because a wide-angle lens is used. Objects in the rear view monitor will appear visually opposite than when viewed in the rear view and outside mirrors.

c Make sure that the lift gate is securely

closed when backing up.

c Do not put anything on the rear view camera. The rear view camera is in- stalled beside the license plate light.

c When washing the vehicle with high- pressure water, be sure not to spray it around the camera. Otherwise, water may enter the camera unit causing wa- ter condensation on the lens, a mal- function, fire or an electric shock.

c Do not strike the camera. It is a preci- sion instrument. Otherwise, it may mal- function or cause damage resulting in a fire or an electric shock.

CAUTION

There is a plastic cover over the camera. Do not scratch the cover when cleaning dirt or snow from the cover. HOW TO READ THE DISPLAYED LINES Lines which indicate the vehicle clearance and distances to objects with reference to the bumper line sA are displayed on the monitor.

ADJUSTING THE SCREEN To adjust the quality of the screen, refer to HOW TO USE THE (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) BUTTON in this sec- tion. c When it is difficult to see in the rearward direction due to shady conditions, press the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button to make objects in the monitor brighter.

c To change the brightness, press the (cid:147)EN- TER(cid:148) button again, turn the key switch OFF or shift to reverse and wait for 10 seconds.

OPERATING TIPS c When the selector lever is shifted to R, the monitor screen automatically changes to the rear view monitor mode. However, the radio can be heard.

c It may take some time until the rear view monitor is displayed after the selector lever has been shifted to R. Objects may be dis- torted momentarily until the rear view moni- tor screen is displayed completely. When the selector lever is returned to a position other than R, it may take some time until the screen changes. Objects on the screen may be distorted until they are completely dis- played.

c When the temperature is extremely high or low, the screen may not clearly display ob- jects. This is not a malfunction.

c When strong light directly enters the cam-

era, objects may not be displayed clearly.

c Vertical lines may be seen in objects on the screen. This is due to strong reflected light from the bumper. This is not a malfunction. c The screen may flicker under fluorescent

light. This is not a malfunction.

c The colors of objects on the rear view moni- tor may differ somewhat from those of the actual object.

c When the contrast of objects is low at night, pushing the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button may not change the brightness.

c Objects on the monitor may not be clear in a

dark place or at night.

c If dirt, rain or snow attaches to the camera, the rear view monitor may not display ob- jects. Clean the camera.

c Do not use alcohol, benzine or thinner to clean the camera. This will cause discolora- tion. To clean the camera, wipe with a cloth dampened with a diluted mild cleaning agent and then wipe with a dry cloth.

c The air conditioner cooling function op- erates only when the engine is running. c Do not leave children or adults who would normally require the assistance of others alone in your vehicle. Pets should also not be left alone. They could accidentally injure themselves or others through inadvertent operation of the vehicle. HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONER (automatic) (if so equipped)

OPERATING TIPS c When the engine coolant temperature and outside air temperature are low, the air flow from the foot outlets may not operate for a maximum of 150 seconds. However, this is not a malfunction. After the coolant tempera- ture warms up, air flow from the foot outlets will operate normally.

REAR SEAT AIR CONDITIONER

SERVICING AIR CONDITIONER

To operate the rear air conditioner, the engine must be running. The rear seat air conditioner can be turned on and off from the front controls. If the rear seat fan control dial is set to (0), the air conditioner is turned off. If it is set to any of the fan speed positions, air is discharged from the rear vents at the corresponding speed. When the rear seat fan control dial is set to (R), the rear seat passengers control their own fan speed.

The air conditioner system in your NISSAN ve- hicle is charged with a refrigerant designed with the environment in mind. This refrigerant does not harm the earth(cid:146)s ozone layer. Special charging equipment and lubricant is re- quired when servicing your NISSAN air condi- tioner. Using improper refrigerants or lubricants will cause severe damage to your air conditioner system. See (cid:147)Air conditioner system refrigerant and lubricant recommendations(cid:148) in the (cid:147)Techni- cal and consumer information(cid:148) section of this manual. A NISSAN dealer is able to service your (cid:147)environ- mentally friendly(cid:148) air conditioning system.

AUDIO SYSTEM

RADIO Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position and press the ON•OFF/VOLUME control knob to turn the radio on. If you listen to the radio with the engine not running, the key should be turned to the ACC position.

Radio reception is affected by station signal strength, distance from radio transmitter, build- ings, bridges, mountains and other external influ- ences. Intermittent changes in reception quality normally are caused by these external influences. Using a cellular phone in or near the ve- hicle may influence radio reception quality. Radio reception Your NISSAN radio system is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic circuits to enhance ra- dio reception. These circuits are designed to extend reception range, and to enhance the qual- ity of that reception.

However there are some general characteristics of both FM and AM radio signals that can affect radio reception quality in a moving vehicle, even when the finest equipment is used. These char- acteristics are completely normal in a given re- ception area, and do not indicate any malfunction in your NISSAN radio system.

Reception conditions will constantly change be- cause of vehicle movement. Buildings, terrain, signal distance and interference from other ve- hicles can work against ideal reception. De- scribed below are some of the factors that can affect your radio reception. FM RADIO RECEPTION Range: FM range is normally limited to 25 (cid:150) 30
miles (40 (cid:150) 48 km), with monaural (single chan- nel) FM having slightly more range than stereo FM. External influences may sometimes interfere with FM station reception even if the FM station is within 25 miles (40 km). The strength of the FM signal is directly related to the distance between the transmitter and receiver. FM signals follow a line-of-sight path, exhibiting many of the same characteristics as light. For example they will reflect off objects.

Fade and drift: As your vehicle moves away from a station transmitter, the signals will tend to fade and/or drift.

Static and flutter: During signal interference from buildings, large hills or due to antenna position (usually in conjunction with increased distance from the station transmitter) static or flutter can be heard. This can be reduced by adjusting the treble control to reduce treble response.

Multipath reception: Because of the reflective characteristics of FM signals, direct and reflected signals reach the receiver at the same time. The signals may cancel each other, resulting in mo- mentary flutter or loss of sound. AM RADIO RECEPTION AM signals, because of their low frequency, can bend around objects and skip along the ground. In addition, the signals can be bounced off the ionosphere and bent back to earth. Because of these characteristics, AM signals are also sub- ject to interference as they travel from transmitter to receiver.

Fading: Occurs while the vehicle is passing through freeway underpasses or in areas with many tall buildings. It can also occur for several seconds during ionospheric turbulence even in areas where no obstacles exist.

Static: Caused by thunderstorms, electrical power lines, electric signs and even traffic lights. SATELLITE RADIO RECEPTION (if so equipped) When the satellite radio is first installed or the battery has been replaced, the satellite radio may not work properly. This is not a malfunction. Wait more than 10 minutes with satellite radio ON and

the vehicle outside of any metal or large building for satellite radio to receive all of the necessary data. No satellite radio reception is available and (cid:147)NO SAT(cid:148) is displayed when the SAT band option is selected unless optional satellite receiver and antenna are installed and an XMT or SIRIUS(cid:153) satellite radio service subscription is active. Sat- ellite radio is not available in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam. Satellite radio performance may be affected if cargo carried on the roof blocks the satellite radio signal. If possible, do not put cargo over the satellite antenna.

Audio main operation ON•OFF/Volume control:

Turn the ignition key to ACC or ON, and then push the ON•OFF/Volume control knob while the system is off to call up the mode (radio or CD) which was playing immediately before the system was turned off.

To turn the system off, press the ON•OFF/Volume control knob.

Turn the ON•OFF/Volume control knob to adjust the volume. This vehicle may be equipped with speed sensi- tive control volume (SSV) for audio. The audio volume changes as the driving speed changes. AUDIO knob (BASS, TREBLE, FADE, BAL- ANCE and SSV if so equipped): Press the AUDIO knob to change the mode as follows: BASS ! TREBLE ! FADE ! BALANCE ! SSV (if so equipped) To adjust Bass, Treble, Fade and Balance, press the AUDIO knob until the desired mode appears in the display. Turn the Tuning knob to adjust Bass and Treble to the desired level. You can also use the Tuning knob to adjust Fader and Balance modes. Fader adjusts the sound level between

the front and rear speakers and Balance adjusts the sound between the right and left speakers.

To change the SSV mode to OFF, LOW, MID or HIGH, turn the Tuning knob to the right or left.

Once you have adjusted the sound quality to the desired level, press the AUDIO knob repeatedly until the radio or CD display reappears. Other- wise, the radio or CD display will automatically reappear after about 10 seconds. DISP (display) button:

This DISP (display) button will show text about CD or SAT information in the audio display. CD display mode

To change the text displayed while playing a CD with text, press the DISP button. The DISP button will allow you to scroll through CD text as follows: Disc title ˆ! Track title. To change the default display mode push the tune knob to display mode and rotate the knob to select the following display mode: Disc title ˆ! Track title ˆ! Track number. Once the display mode is selected press the tune knob to store your selection. If the tuning knob is not pressed after 8 seconds the display will re- fresh with the last selected display mode setting.

The FM stereo indicator ST will glow during FM stereo reception. When the stereo broadcast signal is weak, the radio will automatically change from stereo to monaural reception.

TUNE (Tuning):

If the battery cable is disconnected, or if the fuse opens, the radio memory will be canceled. In that case, reset the desired stations. Radio data system (RDS): RDS stands for Radio Data System, and is a data information service transmitted by some radio stations on the FM band (not AM band) and/or SAT radio encoded within a regular radio broad- cast. Currently, most RDS stations are in large cities, but many stations are now considering broadcasting RDS data. Program type (PTY): PTY can be used to search for a certain program type. Certain areas have a limited number of stations that transmit RDS. Many stations trans- mit call letters and frequencies only. Searching or scanning by program type may yield a limited number of selections. When PROG/RPT button is pressed for more than 1.5 seconds during FM or SAT (if so equipped) mode, the PTY name of the current tuned station is displayed. During this time if the PTY data code is zero or the data is unreadable, the display will show NONE. To change the PTY: 1. Press the PROG/RPT button.

Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position and insert the compact disc into the slot with the label side facing up. The compact disc will be guided automatically into the slot and start play- ing.

If the radio is already operating, it will automati- cally turn off and the compact disc will play.

If the system has been turned off while the com- pact disc was playing, pushing the ON•OFF/VOL control knob will start the compact disc. CD button:

When the CD button is pushed with the system off and the compact disc loaded, the system will turn on and the compact disc will start to play.

When the CD button is pushed with the compact disc loaded but the radio playing, the radio will automatically be turned off and the compact disc will start to play.

REW (Rewind), FF (Fast Forward):

To insert 6 CDs to the CD changer, push the LOAD button for more than 1.5 seconds. The slot numbers (1 (cid:150) 6) will illuminate on the display when CDs are loaded into the changer. CD button: When the CD button is pushed with the system off and the compact disc loaded, the system will turn on and the compact disc will start to play. When the CD button is pushed with the compact disc loaded with the radio playing, the radio will automatically be turned off and the compact disc will start to play.
