Initial Drive Information This section provides a brief overview about some of the important features that may or may not be on your specific vehicle. For more detailed information, refer to each of the features which can be found later in this owner manual.
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter may work up to 60 m (197 ft) away from the vehicle.
7 : Press and release one time to initiate vehicle locator. Press and hold for at least three seconds to sound the panic alarm. Press again to cancel the panic alarm. See Keys on page 2-1 and Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation on page 2-3.
Remote Vehicle Start If equipped, the engine can be started from outside of the vehicle. Starting the Vehicle 1. Aim the RKE transmitter at the
vehicle.
2. Press and release Q.

Immediately, press and hold / for at least four seconds or until the turn signal lamps flash.
When the vehicle starts, the parking lamps will turn on and remain on as long as the engine is running. The doors will be locked and the climate control system may come on.
With Remote Start Shown
Press the button to extend the key. The key can be used for all locks. This key is also used for the ignition, if the vehicle does not have pushbutton start. K : Press to unlock the driver door or all doors. Q : Press to lock all doors. Lock and unlock feedback can be personalized. Y : Press and hold to open the trunk.

Windows
The engine will continue to run for 10 minutes. Repeat the steps for a 10-minute time extension. Remote start can be extended only once. Canceling a Remote Start To cancel a remote start, do one of the following: . Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle and press and hold / until the parking lamps turn off. Turn on the hazard warning flashers. Turn the vehicle on and then off.

Door Locks To lock or unlock the doors from the outside: . Press Q or K on the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. See Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation on page 2-3.
. Press Q or K on the door lock
switch.
. Push the lock knob on the driver
door to lock all doors. Push the lock knob on a passenger door to lock only that door.
. Pull the door handle once to unlock the door. Pulling the handle again unlatches the door.
Press the switch down to open the window. Pull the front of the switch up to close it. The power windows only operate with the ignition in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN/START, or when Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active. See Retained Accessory Power (RAP) on page 9-21.

Express Window Operation Windows with an express-down feature allow the window to be lowered without holding the switch. If equipped, windows may also have an express-up feature. Pull a window switch up or press it down all the way, release it, and the window goes up or down automatically. Stop the window by pulling or pressing the switch in the same direction a second time, or by briefly operating the switch to the first detent in either direction. See Power Windows on page 2-20.

Manual Front Seats
Seat Height Adjuster
Press and hold the top or bottom of the switch to raise or lower the seat. Release the switch when the desired height is reached. See Seat Adjustment on page 3-3.
To adjust a manual seat: 1. Pull the handle at the front of
the seat.
2. Slide the seat to the desired
position and release the handle.
3. Try to move the seat back and
forth to be sure it is locked in place.

To adjust a power seat, if equipped: . Move the seat forward or
rearward by sliding the control forward or rearward.
. Raise or lower the front part of the seat cushion by moving the front of the control up or down.
. Raise or lower the entire seat by
moving the entire control up or down.
See Power Seat Adjustment on page 3-4.
If equipped, press and hold the front or rear of the control to increase or decrease lumbar support. See Lumbar Adjustment on page 3-4.
To recline a manual seatback: 1. Lift the lever. 2. Move the seatback to the desired position, and then release the lever to lock the seatback in place.
3. Push and pull on the seatback to
make sure it is locked.

To return the seatback to the upright position: 1. Lift the lever fully without applying pressure to the seatback, and the seatback will return to the upright position.
2. Push and pull on the seatback to
make sure it is locked.
Power Reclining Seatbacks
Tilt the top of the control forward to raise.

Memory Features
The vehicle will also automatically save driver seat and outside mirror positions to the current driver Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter when the ignition is placed in OFF. These automatically stored positions are referred to as RKE Memory positions. See Memory Seats on page 3-6 and Vehicle Personalization on page 5-31.
Second Row Seats The rear seatbacks can be folded down to increase cargo space. See Rear Seats on page 3-9.
To adjust a power seatback, if available:
Tilt the top of the control rearward to recline.
On vehicles with the memory feature, the “1” and “2” buttons on the outboard side of the driver seat are used to manually save and recall the positions of the driver seat and outside mirrors. These manually stored positions are referred to as Button Memory positions.

and then to the off setting. The lights indicate three for the highest setting and one for the lowest. See Heated Front Seats on page 3-7.
Head Restraint Adjustment Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly. To achieve a comfortable seating position, change the seatback recline angle as little as necessary while keeping the seat and the head restraint height in the proper position. See Head Restraints on page 3-2
and Seat Adjustment on page 3-3.Heated Seats
If available, the buttons are on the climate control panel. To operate, the engine must be running.
Press M or L to heat the driver or passenger seat cushion and seatback. Indicator lights on the button show the current setting. Press the button once for the highest setting. With each press of the button, the heated seat will change to the next lower setting,

Passenger Sensing System
United States
Canada and Mexico
The passenger sensing system turns off the front outboard passenger frontal airbag and knee airbag under certain conditions. No other airbag is affected by the passenger sensing system. See Passenger Sensing System on page 3-24.
The passenger airbag status indicator will light on the overhead console when the vehicle is started. See Passenger Airbag Status Indicator on page 5-11.
Mirror Adjustment
Interior Mirror Adjust the rearview mirror for a clear view of the area behind your vehicle.
Manual Rearview Mirror If equipped, push the tab forward for daytime use and pull it rearward for nighttime use to avoid glare of the headlamps from behind.
Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror If equipped, the mirror will automatically reduce the glare of the headlamps from behind. The dimming feature comes on when the vehicle is started. See Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror on page 2-20.
Exterior Mirrors
1. Turn the selector switch to L
(Left) or R (Right) to choose the driver or passenger mirror.
2. Move the control to adjust the

Reading Lamps There are front and rear reading lamps in the overhead console and the headliner.
To adjust the steering wheel: 1. Pull the lever down. 2. Move the steering wheel up
or down.
3. Pull or push the steering wheel
closer or away from you.
4. Push the lever up to lock the
steering wheel in place.
Do not adjust the steering wheel while driving.
The interior lamps control in the overhead console controls both the front and rear interior lamps. To operate, press the buttons: E : Turns the lamps off. 1 : Turns the lamps on when any door is opened. + : Keeps the lamps on all the time.

Windshield Wiper/Washer
The windshield wiper/washer lever is on the right side of the steering column. With the ignition in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN/START, move the lever to select the wiper speed. HI: Use for fast wipes. LO: Use for slow wipes.
The exterior lamp control is on the instrument panel on the left side of the steering wheel. O : Turns off the exterior lamps. The knob returns to the AUTO position after it is released. Driver Information Center (DIC) The DIC display is in the center of the instrument cluster. It shows the status of many vehicle systems. The controls for the DIC are on the turn signal lever.

2. w / x : Use the band to scroll through the items in each menu.
3. MENU: Press to display the DIC menus. This button is also used to return to or exit the last screen displayed on the DIC.

Forward Collision Alert (FCA) System If equipped, FCA may help avoid or reduce the harm caused by front-end crashes. FCA provides a green indicator, V, when a vehicle is detected ahead. This indicator displays amber if you follow a vehicle much too closely. When approaching a vehicle ahead too quickly, FCA provides a red flashing alert on the windshield and rapidly beeps. See Forward Collision Alert (FCA) System on page 9-34.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) If equipped, LDW may help avoid unintentional lane departures at speeds of 56 km/h (35 mph) or greater. LDW uses a camera sensor to detect the lane markings. The LDW light, @, is green if a lane marking is detected. If the vehicle departs the lane, the light will change to amber and flash. In addition, beeps will sound. See Lane Departure Warning (LDW) on page 9-42.

Parking Assist If equipped, this system uses sensors on the rear bumper to assist with parking and avoiding objects while in R (Reverse). It operates at speeds less than 8 km/h (5 mph). Rear Parking Assist (RPA) uses audible beeps to provide distance and system information. Keep the sensors on the vehicle's rear bumper clean to ensure proper operation. See Parking Assist on page 9-36.
Power Outlets The accessory power outlets can be used to plug in electrical equipment, such as a cell phone or MP3 player. There are two accessory power outlets: one on the center stack below the climate control and one under the armrest inside the center console storage.
Open the protective cover to use the accessory power outlet. See Power Outlets on page 5-5.
Universal Remote System
If equipped, this system provides a way to replace up to three remote control transmitters used to activate devices such as garage door openers, security systems, and home automation devices. Read the instructions completely before attempting to program the Universal Remote system. Because of the steps involved, it may be helpful to have another person available to assist with programming the Universal Remote system.

Sunroof On vehicles with a sunroof, the switches used to operate it are on the headliner above the rearview mirror. The sunroof cannot be opened or closed if the vehicle has an electrical failure. Anti-Pinch Feature If an object is in the path of the sunroof when it is closing, the anti-pinch feature detects the object and stops the sunroof from closing at the point of the obstruction. The sunroof then returns to the full-open position. See Sunroof on page 2-22.

Traction Control/ Electronic Stability Control The traction control system limits wheel spin. The system turns on automatically every time the vehicle is started. The StabiliTrak system assists with directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions. The system turns on automatically every time the vehicle is started.

Tire Pressure Monitor This vehicle may have a Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS).
The low tire pressure warning light alerts to a significant loss in pressure of one of the vehicle's tires. If the warning light comes on,
stop as soon as possible and inflate the tires to the recommended pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label. See Vehicle Load Limits on page 9-9. The warning light will remain on until the tire pressure is corrected. The low tire pressure warning light may come on in cool weather when the vehicle is first started, and then turn off as the vehicle is driven. This may be an early indicator that the tire pressures are getting low and the tires need to be inflated to the proper pressure. The TPMS does not replace normal monthly tire maintenance. Maintain the correct tire pressures. See Tire Pressure Monitor System on page 10-50.
Engine Oil Life System The engine oil life system calculates engine oil life based on vehicle use and displays the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message when it is time to change the engine oil and filter.
The oil life system should be reset to 100% only following an oil change.
Resetting the Oil Life System 1. Turn the ignition to ON/RUN with
the engine off.
2. Press the DIC MENU button on the turn signal lever to enter the Vehicle Information Menu. Use the thumbwheel to scroll through the menu items until you reach REMAINING OIL LIFE.
3. Press the SET/CLR button to
reset the oil life at 100%.
4. Turn the ignition to LOCK/OFF. See Engine Oil Life System on page 10-10.

Leaving children in a vehicle with an ignition key or Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is dangerous and children or others could be seriously injured or killed. They could operate the power window or other controls or make the vehicle move. The windows will function with the key in the ignition or with the RKE transmitter in the vehicle, and children or others could be caught in the path of a closing window. Do not leave children in a vehicle with the ignition key or an RKE transmitter.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System See Radio Frequency Statement on page 13-12. If there is a decrease in the RKE operating range: . Check the distance. The
transmitter may be too far from the vehicle.
. Check the location. Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal.
. Check the transmitter's battery.
See “Battery Replacement” later in this section. If the transmitter is still not working correctly, see your dealer or a qualified technician for service.
The key that is part of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter can be used for the ignition and all locks if the vehicle is a key access vehicle. If the vehicle has the keyless ignition, the key can be used for the locks.
Press the button on the RKE transmitter to extend the key. Press the button and the key blade to retract the key. If the vehicle has an ignition and it becomes difficult to turn the key, inspect the key blade for debris. Periodically clean with a brush or pick. See your dealer if a new key is needed. If locked out of the vehicle, see Roadside Assistance Program on page 13-5.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation The Keyless Access system allows for vehicle entry when the transmitter is within range. See “Keyless Access Operation” following. The transmitter functions may work up to 60 m (197 ft) away from the vehicle. Other conditions, such as those previously stated, can impact the performance of the transmitter.
If the passenger door is open when Q is pressed, all doors lock. Pressing Q may also arm the alarm system. See Vehicle Alarm System on page 2-15. K (Unlock): Press to unlock the driver door or all doors. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-31. The turn signal indicators may flash to indicate unlocking. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-31. Pressing K will disarm the alarm system. See Vehicle Alarm System on page 2-15. Memory seat positions may be recalled when unlocking the vehicle. See Memory Seats on page 3-6 and “Memory Remote Recall” under Vehicle Personalization on page 5-31. Y (Remote Trunk Release): Press and hold to open the trunk.

Q (Lock): Press to lock all doors. The turn signal indicators may flash and/or the horn may sound on the second press to indicate locking. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-31. 7 (Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm): Press and release one time to initiate vehicle locator. The exterior lamps flash and the horn chirps three times. Press and hold 7 for at least three seconds to sound the panic alarm. The horn sounds and the turn signals flash for about 30 seconds until 7 is pressed again or the vehicle is started. / (Remote Vehicle Start): For vehicles with this feature, press Q and release and then press and hold / for at least four seconds to start the engine from outside the vehicle using the RKE transmitter. See Remote Vehicle Start on page 2-9. The RKE transmitter buttons will not operate when the key is in the ignition.
Keyless Access Operation If equipped, the Keyless Access system allows the door and trunk to be locked and unlocked without pressing the RKE transmitter button. The RKE transmitter must be within 1 m (3 ft) of the door being opened. If the vehicle has this feature, there will be a button on the outside front door handles. The Keyless Access can be programmed to unlock all doors on the first unlock/lock button press from the driver door. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-31.
Keyless Unlocking/Locking from the Driver Door When the doors are locked and the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the driver door handle, pressing the lock/unlock button on the driver door handle will unlock the driver door. If the lock/unlock button is pressed again within five seconds, all passenger doors will unlock. Pull the door handle to unlatch the door.

If equipped with Keyless Access, this feature will lock the vehicle several seconds after all doors are closed, if the vehicle is off and at least one RKE transmitter has been removed from the interior or none remain in the interior.
Temporary Disable Passive Locking Feature Temporarily disable the passive locking by pressing and holding K on the interior door switch with a door open for at least four seconds, or until three chimes are heard. Passive locking will then remain disabled until Q on the interior door is pressed, or until the vehicle is turned on. To customize the doors to automatically lock when exiting the vehicle, see Vehicle Personalization on page 5-31.
Keyless Trunk Opening Press the touch pad on the trunk Center High-Mounted Stoplamp (CHMSL) to open the trunk if the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the trunk. Programming Transmitters to the Vehicle Only RKE transmitters programmed to the vehicle will work. If a transmitter is lost or stolen, a replacement can be purchased and programmed through your dealer. The vehicle can be reprogrammed so that lost or stolen transmitters no longer work. Any remaining transmitters will need to be reprogrammed. Each vehicle can have up to eight transmitters matched to it.
Keyless Unlocking/Locking from Passenger Doors When the doors are locked and the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the door handle, pressing the lock/unlock button on that door handle will unlock all doors. Pressing the lock/unlock button will cause all doors to lock if any of the following occur:
The lock/unlock button was used to unlock all doors.
. Any vehicle door has opened and all doors are now closed.
Passive Locking If other electronic devices interfere with the RKE transmitter signal, the vehicle may not detect the RKE transmitter inside the vehicle. If passive locking is enabled, the doors may lock with the RKE transmitter inside the vehicle. Do not leave the RKE transmitter in an unattended vehicle.

Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only) To program a new key: 1.
Insert the original, already programmed key in the ignition and turn to the key to the ON/ RUN position.
2. Turn the key to LOCK/OFF, and
3.
remove the key. Insert the new key to be programmed and turn it to the ON/RUN position within five seconds. The security light will turn off once the key has been programmed.
4. Repeat Steps 1–3 if additional
keys are to be programmed.
If a key is lost or damaged, see your dealer to have a new key made.
Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only) U.S. owners are permitted to program a new key to their vehicle when a recognized key is not available. Canadian regulations require that Canadian owners see their dealer for programming new keys when a recognized key is not available. If there are no currently recognized keys available, follow this procedure to program the first key. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete for the first key. The vehicle must be off and all of the keys you wish to program must be with you. 1.
Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition.
2. Turn to ON/RUN. The security
light will come on.
3. Wait 10 minutes until the
security light turns off.
4. Turn the ignition to LOCK/OFF. 5. Repeat Steps 2–4 two more
times. After the third time, turn to ON/RUN; the key is learned and all previously known keys will no longer work with the vehicle.
Remaining keys can be learned by following the procedure in “Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only).”
Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only) A new transmitter can be programmed to the vehicle when there is one recognized transmitter. To program, the vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters, both currently recognized and new, must be with you. 1. Place the recognized
transmitter(s) in the transmitter pocket. The transmitter pocket is inside the center console storage area.

Insert the vehicle key of the new transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver door and turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4 or 5.
3. Place the new transmitter into
the transmitter pocket.
Insert the vehicle key of the transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver door and turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC
displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN and then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC displays will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.

STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.
5. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press K. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3–5. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only) If there are no currently recognized transmitters available, follow this procedure to program up to eight transmitters. This feature is not available in Canada. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters to be programmed must be with you.

3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time, all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining transmitters can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new transmitter into
the transmitter pocket, which is inside the center console storage area.
5. Press the ENGINE START/
STOP button. When the transmitter is learned the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press K. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4–6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
Starting the Vehicle with a Low Transmitter Battery While trying to start the vehicle, if the transmitter battery is weak or if there is interference with the signal, the DIC may display NO REMOTE DETECTED or USE TRANSMITTER POCKET TO START. The REPLACE BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY message may also be displayed at this time.
To start the vehicle: 1. Open the center console and
place the transmitter in the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the front of the vehicle.
2. With the vehicle in P (Park) or
N (Neutral), press the brake pedal and press the ENGINE START/STOP button. See Starting the Engine on page 9-18. Replace the transmitter battery as soon as possible. Battery Replacement Replace the battery if the DIC indicates that battery replacement is necessary. See Key and Lock Messages on page 5-27.

When replacing the battery, do not touch any of the circuitry on the transmitter. Static from your body could damage the transmitter.
The battery is not rechargeable. To replace the battery: 1. Press the button on the
transmitter to extend the key blade.

prying it with a finger.

on the battery and sliding it toward the key blade. Insert the new battery, positive side facing up. Push the battery down until it is held in place. Replace with a CR2032 or equivalent battery.
5. Snap the battery cover back on
to the transmitter.
