Leaving children in a vehicle with an ignition key or Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is dangerous and children or others could be seriously injured or killed. They could operate the power window or other controls or make the vehicle move. The windows will function with the key in the ignition or with the RKE transmitter in the vehicle, and children or others could be caught in the path of a closing window. Do not leave children in a vehicle with the ignition key or an RKE transmitter.

With an active OnStar subscription, an OnStar Advisor may remotely unlock the vehicle. See OnStar Overview on page 14-1.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System See Radio Frequency Statement on page 13-15. If there is a decrease in the RKE operating range: . Check the distance. The

transmitter may be too far from the vehicle.

. Check the location. Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal.

. Check the transmitter's battery. See “Battery Replacement” later in this section. If the transmitter is still not working correctly, see your dealer or a qualified technician for service.

The key that is part of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter can be used for the ignition and all locks if the vehicle is a Key Access vehicle. If the vehicle has the keyless ignition, the key can be used for the locks.

Press the button on the RKE transmitter to extend the key. Press the button and the key blade to retract the key. If the vehicle has an ignition and it becomes difficult to turn the key, inspect the key blade for debris. Periodically clean with a brush or pick. See your dealer if a new key is needed.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation The transmitter functions may work up to 60 m (197 ft) away from the vehicle. Keep in mind that other conditions, such as those previously stated, can impact the performance of the transmitter. The RKE transmitter can have one of the two symbols for the remote trunk release.

If the passenger door is open when Q is pressed, all doors lock. Pressing Q may also arm the theft-deterrent system. See Vehicle Alarm System on page 2-16. K (Unlock): Press to unlock the driver door or all doors. See “Power Door Locks” under Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40. The turn signal indicators may flash to indicate unlocking. See “Remote Unlock Light Feedback” under Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40. Pressing K will disarm the theft-deterrent system. See Vehicle Alarm System on page 2-16. Memory seat positions may be recalled when unlocking the vehicle. See Memory Seats on page 3-7 and “Auto Memory Recall” under Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40. V or Y (Remote Trunk Release): Press and hold to release the trunk.

Q (Lock): Press to lock all doors. The turn signal indicators may flash and/or the horn may sound to indicate locking. See “Remote Lock, Unlock, Start” under Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40. If Unlocked Door Anti Lock Out is enabled through Vehicle Personalization and the driver door is open when Q is pressed, all doors lock and the driver door will immediately unlock. See “Remote Lock, Unlock, Start” under Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40.

7 (Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm): Press and release one time to initiate vehicle locator. The exterior lamps flash and the horn chirps three times. Press and hold 7 for at least three seconds to sound the panic alarm. The horn sounds and the turn signals flash for about 30 seconds until 7 is pressed again or the vehicle is started. / (Remote Vehicle Start): If equipped, press Q and release and then immediately press and hold / for four seconds to start the engine from outside the vehicle using the RKE transmitter. See Remote Vehicle Start on page 2-9. If equipped with a keyed ignition, the buttons on the keys are disabled when there is a key in the ignition. Keyless Access Operation Some vehicles have the Keyless Access system that lets you lock and unlock the doors and access

the trunk without removing the RKE transmitter from your pocket, purse, briefcase, etc. The RKE transmitter must be within 1 m (3 ft) of the door being unlocked. If the vehicle has this feature, there will be a button on the outside door handles. The Keyless Access can be programmed to unlock all doors on the first unlock/lock button press from the driver door. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40.

Keyless Unlocking/Locking from the Driver Door When the doors are locked and the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the driver door handle, pressing the lock/unlock button on the driver door handle will unlock the driver door. If the lock/unlock button is pressed again within five seconds, all passenger doors will unlock. Pull the door handle to unlatch the door.

Keyless Unlocking/Locking from Passenger Doors When the doors are locked and the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the door handle, pressing the lock/unlock button on that door handle will unlock all doors. Pressing the lock/unlock button will cause all doors to lock if any of the following occur:

The lock/unlock button was used to unlock all doors.

. Any vehicle door has opened and all doors are now closed.

Passive Locking If the vehicle has the Keyless Access system, this feature allows you to select whether the doors automatically lock during normal vehicle exit. When the vehicle is turned off and all doors are closed, the vehicle will determine how many RKE transmitters remain inside the vehicle. If at least one RKE transmitter has been removed from

the vehicle, or none remain in the vehicle interior, the doors will lock after several seconds. Temporarily disable the locking feature by pressing and holding K on the door for several seconds with a door open. Passive locking will then remain disabled until Q is pressed, or until the vehicle is turned on. To customize whether the doors automatically lock when you exit the vehicle, see “Remote Lock, Unlock, Start” under Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40. Keyless Trunk Opening Press the touch pad on the trunk lid to open the trunk if the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the trunk. Programming Transmitters to the Vehicle Only RKE transmitters programmed to the vehicle will work. If a transmitter is lost or stolen, a

replacement can be purchased and programmed through your dealer. The vehicle can be reprogrammed so that lost or stolen transmitters no longer work. Any remaining transmitters will need to be reprogrammed. Each vehicle can have up to eight transmitters matched to it.

Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only) To program a new key: 1.

Insert the original, already programmed key in the ignition and turn to the key to the ON/ RUN position.

2. Turn the key to LOCK/OFF, and

remove the key. Insert the new key to be programmed and turn it to the ON/RUN position within five seconds. The security light will turn off once the key has been programmed.

2. Remove the key lock cylinder

cap. See Door Locks on page 2-10. Then insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key, counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4 or 5.

4. Repeat Steps 1–3 if additional

keys are to be programmed.

3. Wait 10 minutes until the

security light turns off.

If a key is lost or damaged, see your dealer to have a new key made.

Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (Key Vehicles Only) Program a new key to the vehicle when a recognized key is not available. Canadian regulations require that owners see their dealer. If there are no currently recognized keys available, follow this procedure to program the 1st key. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete for the first key. The vehicle must be off and all of the keys you wish to program must be with you. 1.

Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition.

2. Turn to ON/RUN. The security

light will come on.

4. Turn the ignition to LOCK/OFF. 5. Repeat Steps 2–4 two more

times. After the third time, turn to ON/RUN; the key is learned and all previously known keys will no longer work with the vehicle.

Remaining keys can be learned by following the procedure in “Programming with a Recognized Key.”

Programming with a Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only) A new transmitter can be programmed to the vehicle when there is one recognized transmitter. To program, the vehicle must be off and at least one currently recognized transmitter and all new transmitters, must be with you. 1. Place the recognized

transmitter(s) in the cupholder.

3. Place the new transmitter into

the transmitter pocket. The transmitter pocket is located inside the center console storage area.

4. Press the ENGINE START/

STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.

5. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press K. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3–5. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only) If there are no currently recognized transmitters available, follow this procedure to program up to eight transmitters. This feature is not

available in Canada. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters you wish to program must be with you. 1. Remove the key lock cylinder

cap. See Door Locks on page 2-10. Then insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key, counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.

2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC

displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN and then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC displays will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.

3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time, all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining transmitters can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.

4. Place the new transmitter into

the transmitter pocket. The transmitter pocket is inside the center console storage area.

5. Press the ENGINE START/

STOP button. When the transmitter is learned the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.

6. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press K. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4–6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

Starting the Vehicle with a Low Transmitter Battery or Wireless Interference If the transmitter battery is weak or there is wireless interference, the DIC may display NO REMOTE DETECTED or PLACE TRANSMITTER IN POCKET TO START when you try to start the vehicle. The REPLACE BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY message may also be displayed at this time.

To start the vehicle:

1. Open the center console and

place the transmitter in the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the front of the vehicle.

2. With the vehicle in P (Park) or

N (Neutral), press the brake pedal and press the ENGINE START/STOP button. See Starting the Engine on page 9-19. Replace the transmitter battery as soon as possible.

Battery Replacement Replace the battery if the DIC indicates that battery replacement is necessary. See Key and Lock Messages on page 5-34. { Caution

When replacing the battery, do not touch any of the circuitry on the transmitter. Static from your body could damage the transmitter.

The battery is not rechargeable. To replace the battery: 1. Press the button on the

transmitter to extend the key blade.

Remote Vehicle Start The vehicle may have this feature that allows the engine to be started from outside the vehicle. / (Remote Vehicle Start): This button will be on the RKE transmitter if the vehicle has remote start. The climate control system will use the previous settings during a remote start. The rear window defogger may come on during a remote start based on cold ambient conditions. The rear defog indicator light does not come on during a remote start. If the vehicle has heated and/or ventilated seats, they may come on during a remote start. See Heated and Ventilated Front Seats on page 3-10. Laws in some local communities may restrict the use of remote starters. For example, some laws require a person using remote start

to have the vehicle in view. Check local regulations for any requirements. Other conditions can affect the performance of the transmitter. See Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System on page 2-2.

Starting the Vehicle To start the engine using the remote start feature: 1. Aim the RKE transmitter at the

vehicle.

2. Press and release Q. 3.

Immediately after completing Step 2, press and hold / for at least four seconds or until the turn signal lamps flash. The turn signal lamps flashing confirms the request to remote start the vehicle has been received.

When the engine starts, the parking lamps will turn on and remain on as long as the engine is running. The doors will be locked and the climate control system may come on.

2. Remove the battery cover by

prying it with a finger.

3. Remove the battery by pushing

on the battery and sliding it toward the key blade. Insert the new battery, positive side facing up. Push the battery down until it is held in place. Replace with a CR2032 or equivalent battery.

5. Snap the battery cover back on

to the transmitter.

The engine will continue to run for 10 minutes. Repeat the steps for a 10-minute time extension. Remote start can be extended only once. To drive the vehicle, turn the ignition to ON/RUN for Key Access vehicles, or press the brake pedal and the ENGINE START/STOP button for Keyless Access vehicles.

Extending Engine Run Time For a 10-minute extension, repeat Steps 1–3 while the engine is still running. The remote start can be extended once. When the remote start is extended, the second 10 minutes will start immediately. For example, if the engine has been running for five minutes, and 10 minutes are added, the engine will run for a total of 15 minutes. A maximum of two remote starts, or a single start with an extension, is allowed between ignition cycles.

The vehicle's ignition must be turned on and then back off before the remote start procedure can be used again.

Canceling a Remote Start To cancel a remote start, do one of the following: . Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle and press and hold / until the parking lamps turn off. Turn on the hazard warning flashers. Turn the vehicle on and then off.

Conditions in Which Remote Start Will Not Work The remote vehicle start feature will not operate if:

The key is in the ignition (Key Access) or if the key is in the vehicle (Keyless Access). The hood is not closed. The hazard warning flashers are on.

The malfunction indicator lamp is on. The engine coolant temperature is too high. The oil pressure is low. Two remote vehicle starts, or a single remote start with an extension, have already been used. The vehicle is not in P (Park).

Door Locks

{ Warning Unlocked doors can be dangerous.

. Passengers, especially

children, can easily open the doors and fall out of a moving vehicle. The chance of being thrown out of the vehicle in a crash is increased if the doors are not locked. So, all passengers should wear

safety belts properly and the doors should be locked whenever the vehicle is driven.

. Young children who get into

unlocked vehicles may be unable to get out. A child can be overcome by extreme heat and can suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke. Always lock the vehicle whenever leaving it.

. Outsiders can easily enter through an unlocked door when slowing or stopping the vehicle. Lock the doors to help prevent this from happening.

Key Cylinder Access

If equipped, use the Keyless Access system to lock and unlock the door. When the doors are locked and the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the driver door handle, press the lock/ unlock button. When unlocking from the driver door, the first press unlocks that door; press again within five seconds to unlock all passenger doors. See Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation on page 2-3.

To access the key cylinder: 1. Pull the door handle (1) to the

open position. Insert the key (4) into the slot (3) on the bottom of the cap (2) and pry outward.

3. Move the cap (2) rearward and

remove.

4. Use the key (4) in the cylinder. To replace the cap: 1. Pull the door handle to the open

position.

3. Move the cap forward and press

to snap the cap in place. 4. Release the door handle.

Inside the Vehicle Push down on the door lock knob to lock the door manually. Pull once on the door handle to unlock the door and again to open the door. Press the power door lock switch to lock or unlock all doors automatically. See Power Door Locks on page 2-12.

Q (Lock): Press to lock the doors. K (Unlock): Press to unlock the doors.

Delayed Locking This feature is activated through Vehicle Personalization. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40.

When delayed locking is active and Q is pressed on the door lock switch while the door is open, a chime will sound three times. When all the doors are closed, the doors will lock automatically after five seconds. If a door is reopened before five seconds have elapsed, the five-second timer will reset once all the doors are closed again. Press Q on the door lock switch again or press Q on the RKE transmitter to override this feature and lock the doors immediately.

Automatic Door Locks The doors will lock automatically when all doors are closed, the ignition is on, and the shift lever is moved out of P (Park). To unlock the doors: . Press K on a door. . Shift the transmission into

P (Park).

The power door locks can be programmed through the Driver Information Center (DIC). See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40.

Lockout Protection

Key Access If the key is in the ignition and the power door lock switch is pressed with the driver door open, all doors will lock and only the driver door will unlock.

Keyless Access If equipped with keyless access, when the vehicle is in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN/START and the power door lock switch is pressed with the driver door open, all doors will lock and only the driver door will unlock. If the vehicle is off and locking is requested while a door is open, when all doors are closed the vehicle will check for RKE transmitters inside. If an RKE

transmitter is detected and the number of RKE transmitters has not reduced, the driver door will unlock.

Lockout Protection Override Lockout protection can be manually overridden with the driver door open by pressing and holding Q on the power door lock switch.

Unlocked Door Anti Lock Out When this feature is on and door locking is requested with the driver door open, all doors will lock and only the driver door will unlock. The driver door must be closed before locking is requested for all doors to remain locked. When this feature is off, the Delayed Door Lock menu will be available. This feature can also be programmed. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40.

Safety Locks The rear door safety locks prevent passengers from opening the rear doors from inside the vehicle.

The rear door power windows are also disabled. See Power Windows on page 2-21. Press Z { again to deactivate the safety locks. If a rear door handle is being pulled at the same time the safety lock is deactivated, that door will remain locked and the indicator light may flash. Release the handle, then press the safety lock twice to deactivate the safety locks.

Press Z { to activate the safety locks on the rear doors. The indicator light in the switch will illuminate when activated.

Doors

Trunk

{ Warning

Exhaust gases can enter the vehicle if it is driven with the liftgate, trunk/hatch open, or with any objects that pass through the seal between the body and the trunk/hatch or liftgate. Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide (CO) which cannot be seen or smelled. It can cause unconsciousness and even death. If the vehicle must be driven with the liftgate or trunk/hatch open:

. Close all of the windows. . Fully open the air outlets on

or under the instrument panel.

Do not use the emergency trunk release handle as a tie-down or anchor point when securing items in the trunk as it could damage the handle.

system to a setting that brings in only outside air and set the fan speed to the highest setting. See “Climate Control Systems” in the Index.

Vehicle Security This vehicle has theft-deterrent features; however, they do not make the vehicle impossible to steal.

Vehicle Alarm System This vehicle has an anti-theft alarm system. Arming the System To arm the system, press Q on the RKE transmitter. The alarm automatically arms after about 30 seconds.

There is a glow-in-the-dark emergency trunk release handle on the trunk lid. This handle will glow following exposure to light. Pull the release handle to open the trunk from the inside.

The security indicator light on the instrument panel flashes. Press and hold V or Y on the RKE transmitter to open the trunk without setting off the alarm. The system rearms when the trunk is closed. Disarming the System To disarm the system, do one of the following: . Press K on the RKE transmitter.

If the vehicle has Keyless Access, unlock the vehicle using the door handle lock/unlock button with the RKE transmitter within 1 m (3 ft) of the vehicle.

. Start the engine. The alarm automatically disarms. How to Detect a Tamper Condition If K is pressed and the horn sounds, an attempted break-in occurred while the system was armed. If the alarm has been activated, a message will appear on the DIC. See Security Messages on page 5-37.

Immobilizer Operation (Key Access) This vehicle has a passive theft-deterrent system. The system does not have to be manually armed or disarmed. The vehicle is automatically immobilized when the key is removed from the ignition. The system is automatically disarmed when the vehicle is started with the correct key. The key uses a transponder that matches an immobilizer control unit in the vehicle and automatically disarms the system. Only the correct key starts the vehicle. The vehicle may not start if the key is damaged.

The security light in the instrument cluster comes on if there is a problem with arming or disarming the theft-deterrent system. When trying to start the vehicle, the security light comes on briefly when the ignition is turned on. If the engine does not start and the security light stays on, there is a problem with the system. Turn the ignition off and try again. If the engine still does not start, and the key appears to be undamaged or the light continues to stay on, try another ignition key. If the engine still does not start with the other key, the vehicle needs service. If the vehicle does start, the first key may be damaged. See your dealer who can service the theft-deterrent system and have a new key made. Do not leave the key or device that disarms or deactivates the theft-deterrent system in the vehicle.

Immobilizer Operation (Keyless Access) This vehicle has a passive theft-deterrent system. The system does not have to be manually armed or disarmed. The vehicle is automatically immobilized when the transmitter leaves the vehicle. The immobilization system is disarmed when the ignition button is pushed in and a valid transmitter is found in the vehicle.

The security light in the instrument cluster comes on When there is a problem with arming or disarming the theft-deterrent system.

The system has one or more transmitters matched to an immobilizer control unit in your vehicle. Only a correctly matched transmitter will start the vehicle. If the transmitter is ever damaged, you may not be able to start your vehicle. When trying to start the vehicle, the security light comes on briefly when the ignition is turned on. If the engine does not start and the security light stays on, there is a problem with the system. Turn the vehicle off and try again. If the RKE transmitter appears to be undamaged, try another transmitter. Or, you may try placing the transmitter in the transmitter pocket in the center console. See “Starting the Vehicle with a Low Transmitter Battery or Wireless Interference” under Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation on page 2-3.

{ Caution

A convex mirror can make things, like other vehicles, look farther away than they really are. If you cut too sharply into the right lane, you could hit a vehicle on the right. Check the inside mirror or glance over your shoulder before changing lanes.

The passenger side mirror is convex shaped. A convex mirror's surface is curved so more can be seen from the driver seat.

(Left) or R (Right) to choose the driver or passenger mirror.

Exterior Automatic Dimming Mirror The vehicle may have a driver exterior automatic dimming mirror that will automatically adjust for the glare of headlamps behind.

Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) The vehicle may have SBZA. See Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) on page 9-52.

Reverse Tilt Mirrors If equipped with the memory package, the passenger and/or driver mirror tilts to a preselected position when the vehicle is in R (Reverse). This feature allows the driver to view the curb when parallel parking. The mirror(s) return to the original position when the vehicle is shifted out of R (Reverse), the ignition is turned off or to OFF/ LOCK, or if the vehicle is driven in reverse above a predetermined speed. Turn this feature on or off through vehicle personalization. See Vehicle Personalization on page 5-40.

Puddle Light The vehicle has a puddle light on the mirror housings. The light will illuminate the ground when the door is opened.

Folding Mirrors

Manual Folding Mirrors The vehicle has manual folding mirrors. These mirrors can be folded inward to prevent damage when going through an automatic car wash. To fold, pull the mirror toward the vehicle. Push the mirror outward to return it to the original position.

Heated Mirrors = (Rear Window Defogger): If equipped, press to heat the mirrors. See Dual Automatic Climate Control System on page 8-3.

Interior Mirrors

Interior Rearview Mirrors Adjust the rearview mirror for a clear view of the area behind your vehicle. Do not spray glass cleaner directly on the mirror. Use a soft towel dampened with water.

Manual Rearview Mirror If equipped with a manual rearview mirror, push the tab forward for daytime use and pull it for nighttime use to avoid glare from the headlamps from behind.

Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror If equipped, automatic dimming reduces the glare of headlamps from behind. The dimming feature comes on when the vehicle is started.

Never leave a child, a helpless adult, or a pet alone in a vehicle, especially with the windows closed in warm or hot weather. They can be overcome by the extreme heat and suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke.

The vehicle aerodynamics are designed to improve fuel economy performance. This may result in a pulsing sound when either rear window is down and the front windows are up. To reduce the sound, open either a front window or the sunroof, if equipped.

Power Windows

{ Warning

Children could be seriously injured or killed if caught in the path of a closing window. Never leave the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter in a vehicle with children. When there are children in the rear seat, use the window lockout switch to prevent operation of the windows. See Keys on page 2-1.

The power windows only operate with the ignition in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN/START, or when Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active. See Retained Accessory Power (RAP) on page 9-24. The power window switches on the driver door control all the windows. Each passenger door has a switch that controls only that window. Press the switch to lower the window. Pull the switch up to raise it.

Express-Down/Up Windows If equipped, this feature allows the windows to be raised and lowered all the way without holding the switch. Press or pull the switch fully and release it to activate the express feature. The express mode can be canceled by briefly pressing or pulling the switch. Express Window Anti-Pinch Feature If any object is in the path of the window when the express-up is active, the window will stop at the obstruction and auto-reverse to a preset factory position. Weather conditions such as severe icing may also cause the window to auto-reverse. The window will return to normal operation after the obstruction or condition is removed.

Express Window Anti-Pinch Override

{ Warning

If express override is activated, the window will not reverse automatically. You or others could be injured and the window could be damaged. Before you use express override, make sure that all people and obstructions are clear of the window path.

The anti-pinch feature can be overridden. Hold the window switch all the way up to the second position. The window will rise for as long as the switch is held. Once the switch is released, the express mode is reactivated. In this mode, the window can close on an object in its path. Use care when using the override mode.

Programming the Power Windows If the vehicle battery has been recharged or disconnected, or is not working, the front power windows will need to be reprogrammed for the express-up feature to work. Before reprogramming, replace or recharge the vehicle's battery. To program: 1. With the ignition in ON/RUN or

ACC/ACCESSORY, or when RAP is active, close all doors.

2. Press and hold the power

window switch until the window is fully open.

3. Pull the power window switch up

until the window is fully closed. 4. Continue holding the switch up for approximately two seconds after the window is completely closed.

The window is now reprogrammed. Repeat the process for the other windows.

Sun Visors

Sunroof For vehicles equipped with a sunroof, the ignition must be in ON/ RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY, or in Retained Accessory Power (RAP) to operate the sunroof and power sunshade. See Retained Accessory Power (RAP) on page 9-24.

Pull the sun visor down to block glare. Detach the sun visor from the center mount to pivot to the side window, or to extend along the rod.

This feature prevents the rear passenger windows from operating, except from the driver position. Press Z { to activate the window lockout. Sunroof Switch Open/Close: Press and hold the front or rear of ~ to open or close the sunroof. Release ~ at the desired position to stop movement. Vent Feature: Press the front or rear of ~ to the first detent to open and close the vent feature. The sunshade partially opens and closes automatically during the vent operation. Express Open/Express Close: Fully press and release the front or rear of ~. The sunroof opens and closes automatically.

Sunshade Switch Open/Close: Press and hold the front or rear of Q to open or close the sunshade to the desired position. Express Open/Express Close: Fully press and release the front or rear of Q to express open or express close the sunshade. If the

sunroof is open, the sunshade will express close just short of the open sunroof. Anti-Pinch Feature If an object is in the path of the sunroof/sunshade when it is closing, the anti-pinch feature will detect the object and stop the sunroof/ sunshade from closing at the point of the obstruction. The sunroof/ sunshade will then return to the full-open position. To close the sunroof/sunshade, see “Express Open/Express Close” earlier in this section.

Head Restraints { Warning

With head restraints that are not installed and adjusted properly, there is a greater chance that occupants will suffer a neck/ spinal injury in a crash. Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly. If your vehicle has rear head restraints that fold down, always return them to the full upright position whenever an occupant is seated in the seat.

Adjust the head restraint so that the top of the restraint is at the same height as the top of the occupant's head. This position reduces the chance of a neck injury in a crash. Front Seats The vehicle's front seats have adjustable head restraints in the outboard seating positions.

Two-Way Head Restraints The height of the head restraint can be adjusted.

To raise or lower the head restraint, press the button located on the side of the head restraint, and pull up or push the head restraint down. Pull and push on the head restraint after the button is released to make sure it is locked in place. The front seat outboard head restraints are not designed to be removed.

Rear Seats The vehicle's rear seats have adjustable head restraints in the outboard seating positions. The height of the head restraint can be adjusted. Pull the head restraint up to raise it. Try to move the head restraint to make sure that it is locked in place.

The head restraints can be adjusted forward or rearward. To adjust the head restraint forward, grasp the head restraint and pull it forward to the desired locking position. To adjust the head restraint rearward, press the button located on the side of the head restraint and move the head restraint rearward until the desired locking position is reached. Try to move the head restraint after the button is released to make sure that it is locked in place. The front seat outboard head restraints are not designed to be removed.

To lower the head restraint, press the button located on the side of the head restraint, push the head restraint down, and release the button. Pull and push on the head restraint after the button is released to make sure that it is locked in place.

When an occupant or child restraint is in the seat, always return the head restraint to the full upright position. Push down on the head restraint to release the locking mechanism. Then, pull the head restraint up and push it rearward until it is in the full upright position. Always adjust the head restraint so that the top of the restraint is at the same height as the top of the occupant's head. Rear outboard head restraints are not designed to be removed.

You can lose control of the vehicle if you try to adjust a driver seat while the vehicle is moving. Adjust the driver seat only when the vehicle is not moving.

Reclining Seatbacks

{ Warning

Sitting in a reclined position when the vehicle is in motion can be dangerous. Even when buckled up, the safety belts cannot do their job. The shoulder belt will not be against your body. Instead, it will be in front of you. In a crash, you could go into it, receiving neck or other injuries. The lap belt could go up over your abdomen. The belt forces would be there, not at your pelvic bones. This could cause serious internal injuries. For proper protection when the vehicle is in motion, have the seatback upright. Then sit well back in the seat and wear the safety belt properly.

Do not have a seatback reclined if the vehicle is moving. Manual Reclining Seatbacks

{ Warning

If either seatback is not locked, it could move forward in a sudden stop or crash. That could cause injury to the person sitting there. Always push and pull on the seatbacks to be sure they are locked.

To adjust the lumbar support: . Press and hold the control

forward to increase or rearward to decrease lumbar support.

upward to raise or downward to lower the height of the lumbar support.

To recline a manual seatback: 1. Lift the lever. 2. Move the seatback to the desired position, and then release the lever to lock the seatback in place.

To return the seatback to the upright position: 1. Lift the lever fully without applying pressure to the seatback, and the seatback will return to the upright position.

To adjust a power seatback: Tilt the top of the control rearward to recline. Tilt the top of the control forward to raise.

If equipped, the "1," "2," SET, and B (Exit) buttons on the driver door are used to manually save and recall memory settings for the driver seat, outside mirrors, and power tilt and telescoping steering column (if equipped).

Storing Memory Positions To save positions to the “1” and “2” buttons: 1. Adjust the driver seat, outside mirrors, and the power tilt and telescoping steering column (if equipped) to the desired driving positions.

2. Press and holdSET and “1” at

the same time until a beep sounds.

3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for a

second driver using “2.”

To save positions to the B (Exit) button and easy exit features: 1. Adjust the driver seat, power tilt and telescoping steering column (if equipped), and the outside mirrors on some vehicles to the desired positions for getting out of the vehicle.

2. Press and hold SET and B at

the same time until a beep sounds.

Manually Recalling Memory Positions If the vehicle is off, or in ON/RUN/ START but not in P (Park), press and hold "1," "2," or B to manually recall the previously stored memory positions. Releasing "1,” "2," or B before the stored positions are reached stops the recall. If the vehicle is in ON/RUN/START and in P (Park), press and release “1,” “2,” or B to manually recall the previously stored memory positions. Placing the ignition in OFF before the stored positions are reached stops the recall. If something has blocked the driver seat and/or power tilt and telescoping steering column (if equipped) while recalling a memory position, the recall may stop. Remove the obstruction; then press and hold the appropriate manual control for the memory item that is not recalling for two seconds. Try recalling the memory position again

by pressing the appropriate memory button. If the memory position is still not recalling, see your dealer for service.

Automatically Recalling Memory Positions (Auto Memory Recall) The Auto (Automatic) Memory Recall feature automatically recalls the current driver’s previously stored “1” or “2” position when entering the vehicle. Depending upon the Auto Memory Recall feature enabled in the vehicle personalization menu, memory “1” or “2” positions are recalled in the following ways: To activate the recall when On - Driver Door Open is selected in the personalization menu, do one of the following: . On vehicles with RKE, press K

on the RKE transmitter and open the driver door.

. On vehicles with Keyless

Access, press the lock/unlock button on the outside driver door

If something has blocked the driver seat and/or the power tilt and telescoping steering column (if equipped) while recalling a memory

position, the recall may stop. Remove the obstruction; then press and hold the appropriate manual control for the memory item that is not recalling for two seconds. Try recalling the memory position again by opening the driver door and pressing K on the RKE transmitter. If the memory position is still not recalling, see your dealer for service.

Easy Exit Recall If programmed on in the vehicle personalization menu, the easy exit feature automatically moves the driver seat, power tilt and telescoping steering column (if equipped), and outside mirrors on some vehicles to the memory positions saved to the B (Exit) button. Easy exit recall automatically activates when one of the following occurs:

The vehicle is turned off and the driver door is opened within a short time. The vehicle is turned off with the driver door open.

If something has blocked the driver seat and/or power tilt and telescoping steering column (if equipped) while recalling the exit position, the recall may stop. Remove the obstruction; then press and hold the appropriate manual control for the exit feature not recalling for two seconds. Try recalling the exit position again. If the exit position is still not recalling, see your dealer for service.
