Hey guys.

Currently own a Subaru Outback that I am selling soon, and am thinking of buying my brother's Sierra off of him. Currently runs the 1.3l but needs a little work to get up to scratch and as most would know even when they are fresh they aren't the most powerful of donks. So wondering what other conversions have been done before. Something relatively easy to do. I know of the Suzuki Vitara and Baleno conversions, but was more looking towards the likes of SR's and such.

Any help and ideas would be appreciated. And if I'm dreaming just tell me. Haha.

Cheers

The engine and transmission dimentions are what will hold you back but if you can fit it in the go the SR20 and 5speed or auto depending on what way you wanted to go, the sierra's have a remote transfere case which allows you to put just about anything in you can fit as long as you can join it to the transfere case. years ago I done a 5K and 5sped conversion with a 1ltr transfere case as it is lower geared then the 1.3l one. good luck with it and I would like to see the SR20 fit but not sure if it will??

I'm just looking at suggestions at the moment, the SR20 was just an example really. What else have people shoe horned in there?

Probably the most wild one I have seen was a build on 4wdaction.com a guy put a 1uz v8 in it, but I would say most the have been done like the vitara, swift engines, sr20, ca18, 4age and the K series engines. I don't really know what else could go in, maybe you could get a 4 cylinder diesel in there but I have never heard of it being done. I personally would just got the Vitara 1.6L engine should be one of the easiest to convert to, and my mate had one with it and it went well.

Check into your states legalities firstly as I'm (fairly) sure an SR in a Sierra isn't legal in Qld

This should help you

EDIT:

Tare weight= 1.0/Maruti 870Kg, 1.3 N/T 920Kg, 1.3W/T 970Kg

Gross Weight (all)=1370Kg

This may also help....

I believe the above link works off Tare Weight, so you will need to find out if your brother Zook in Wide or Narrow Track

Have a mate whos done a 4-age engine and box conversion because the transfer case is independent there are no adapter plates needed just a custom tailshaft and ofcourse custom engine and box mounts
