Ok so I wanna get 33s on my ln106 4x4 dualcab. I believe it has a 1.5-2 inch lift. Wondering what trouble I'll have with the 33s or will I need a body lift?

I don't think he's saying it will make it flex, just it will let it flex without scrubbing?? |

mine dosnt scrub at all its got 2inch shackles check topics Umm... 2inch extended shackles will only give you half that (1 inch in lift) due to shackle angles, therefore you can fit 33s ok with just an inch of lift, wich I don't doubt at all, I got sagged out 2'' springs & my 33s fit good scrub abit on full lock with abit of flex ![]() |

right in fairness no body has mentioned to you about tyre width .... I have 33 11.5 bfg and with 2 inch lift they do scrub when on full lock going over a kerb ! (rear of the wheel will hit just infront of the door) there are a number of solutions all with downsides |

32 are still 11.5 and it seems to be more the width that is the problem |

33 inch tyres are actually illegal on a hilux ... buggest legal tyre is a 31 10r 15 .. anyone consider this ? and as from the end of this month things are getting much harder and more stringent the entire modification scheme including lift kits, body lifts etc (general mods to cars too) is all about to change .. so yeah mite want to reconsider if its more a street than off road vehicle ... |

Can anyone shed some light on the performance differences between 31s 32s and 33s go offroad? Also this will probably open a can of worms but tyre opinions. I'm between maxis bighorns and Mtrs with Kevlar? The difference between 31"s to 33"s is just a proportionate gain in performance as you increase tyre size.. simple really. Regarding the bighorns and MTR's thats a chalk and cheese comparison that i can honestly say iv never seen before, bighorns being the cheap and weak, though widely owned and available mud tyre option and the kevlar MTR being at the top of the mud terrain food chain. Strong as #*^% (heavy as shit too, read wayy heavier than my spare trepadore thats on a steel wheel, and the MTR is on an alloy!) stupidly aggressive, very advanced design and great on road manners although very expensive and im pretty sure there's none in Aust right now, or may come in on the 25th of this month, very hard to get a set. |

Assuming the BFGs you have owned are not the KM2s as they just haven't been around that long and theres no way you have used 6 sets of them. You cant buy the old pattern anymore AFAIK so thats not really relevant anymore as hes looking to buy new tyres, i agree that the old style KM was a very long lasting composition, ours must have around 80K+ on them with another 20 in them, but weak sidewalls and a relatively closed tread design when compared to the latest generation of muddies puts them out of contention. |

hmmn for what reason are 33s illegal on hilux ? hilux came out with a range of different size tyres the biggest being 31 ... there by whats new rules o larger than stock ? umm for starters The rim diameter may be varied from the standard size but the overall diameter of the tyre must not vary by more than +15mm or -26mm than the largest optional manufactureres tyre and only 1.5 times wider than the largest manufacturers optional tyre ... also if it is a independant front suspension hilux you can only vary the track by a maximum of 26mm also where they will get you is read your tyre placard and see what is the largest tyre specified there. The tyre and rim must not foul wheel arches or suspension components under any conditions. Steering limit stops must not be adjusted to reduce the turning circle in order to allow the fitting of the alternative rims and tyres. http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/c792a0c9...r_vehicles2.pdf |

Wow i must have jinxed it, we blew a BFG today on the highway, time for new rubber for the 105. Now the task of finding MTRs or KM2s... fun times. |

I agree simply because they last forever! ![]() ![]() In saying that, after writting off my front 2 tyres I bought a set of 33x12.5r15 buckshots & have to say they've preformed ALOT better than expected for a cheap tyre, had them for nearly 12 months & they are wearing pretty well for a soft tyre & I've only been bogged once since I bought them, can tractor through most deep mud in 2wd really can't fault them ![]() |
