ok i think i am asking a stupid question but i am trying to source a 308 for my tonne and want a 4 or 3 spd floor shift, what i am guessing is a trimatic pattern can only take a colom shift, or an auto box, and a turbo pattern can house a m21 4spd or 3spd am i right???

yep, M20-21 for holdens are made to mate up to a tri-pattern 308. a chev pattern 308 will bolt up to T350 and T400 transmissions and I dunno about manual boxes, chev powered holdens came out with Muncie or saganaw 4 speeds, but I am unsure about flywheels etc, and if they fit up same between chev and holden motors. |

here's how it goes if you have a trimatic pattern motor a m20 or 21 will bolt up as long as its a v8 box and the 6 cylinder is different in the input shaft also if you a turbo bolt pattern a muncie or super t10 may bolt up or anything that was once behind a chev block you can put a ford top loader or single rail 4 speed behind with a bell housing change. |
