Mate they are a reasonably strong diff seen them behind everything from tough 6's to 454's but it really depends how you are going to drive , if your going to light em up all the time you will break it it's just a case of when not if . I have owned many V8 Holdens over the years with this type of diff and have only ever broken 2 , both with a high revving 253 . The 3.08 ratio one in my Tonner has given no problems at all with the 308 and T5 . The pin that holds the idler gears seems to be the weak link I've found to get around this use the housing from the 2.78 centre as the pin is of a larger diameter .

same here .. i had a 308 commy with a salisbury in it 3.08 ratio good highway and acceleration compromise, i used to drag it often and its correct with the its not a matter of if but when , a few meets and the centers would let go , i gave up and put a 9 inch in , that solved my problems

As I stated before I am running a 3.08 ratio in the Tonner now which is a good compromise but my ratio of choice would be the 3.36 to 1 with the 5 speed .

used to do brutal things to a 2.6 ratio lsd with 308 and toploader and never had an issue.
got 355 gears now gotto find a lsd centre for it, they will take a fair amount of punishment but only for so long, same as any hard done by component really.
there is a 355 spooled on here for sale fairly cheap .

depends really on how hard it comes in, and how nasty you are to the driveline.
if its gonna be a straight line car 9 inch all the way but if its going to corner you will notice the difference in a major way . . .

Just how much hp are we talking here whats the motor put out now and how much do you expect to get with the twin hairdryers . for cruising a 3.08 or 2.78 will work good if the motor puts out a reasonable amount of torque .

the 1uzfe make a fair bit of tourque and with the turbos id say between the 350 to 400 mark and it is a driving car not a race car
