I just purchased a soarer and have been workign on it, so I havent had a chance to test out that kind stuff yet.

That can change from vehicle to vehicle depending on work done etc. You could get two engines direct from factory and one will perform differently than the other.

true this is stock engines , its only a estimate aswell

they arent very good at all... they run very very very rich... less than 10-1 Air to fuel ratio... i got a SAFC in mine which helps a bit.. but as you know i have a 1jz and not the 1uz... i;d do the swap... so u can get out of a fag-e-70... and soarers are pimp

the 1UZ are frieking fantastic on the highway, depending on the condition of the engine and relevent sensors etc, 8l per hundred on the highway is easily reachable.

Around town etc, as long as you dont stomp the throttle all the time, your looking at 12 to 14l per hundred.

1JZ about 14lper hundred around town and i get 9l per hundred on the highway (this is based on driving down to hobart, 3 dyno runs, then quite a spirited drive back to launnie with mates haha)

If you know how to drive them, there good smile.gif

dont the 1uz have a epic fuel tank tho?

Scottywilkes
Post #10

what the fuel tank have to do with litres per hundred? LOL has nothing to do with capacity.

there 78 litres, same as the JZZ30, JZZ31, UZZ30, UZZ31 and UZZ32
Costs me 116 of bp ultimate to fill up LOL, but its worth it smile.gif

If it helps i have the 1uz and beleive it or not on the highway about 7ltrs/100k,thats with the eaton ontop(which actually helps). Aront town is a bit more, but in all ive been blown away by the fuel economy.

Yep! In a 91 G.T 4.0. Yeah their heavy, but if your suspension is good i.e. coilovers, that makes it alot easier. Dont get me wrong as mookie said "if you baby it"... I went from Bellerieve to sorell, richmond, grasstree hill, risdon vale an back to bellerive on 6ltrs,babying it. anothertime i used over 20 ltrs for pretty much the same run.... All being said,in general they are a really fuel efficient engine, thanks to quad cam, only 4ltr v8,and the research and technology that went into the 1uz design.

Did some research and apparently they put 400 million into researching and developing the 1uz O_O

in my celsior i used to average 10l per 100km on the highway and 12l per 100km on combined cycle

re: sounding shit, the 1uz is the best sounding motor i have ever owned.....

Not only did they spend 400 mill+,they also built over 330 prototype engines before they were satisfied to start production. Whereas holden/ford etc may build upto 10,and then they do s1, s2, s3..etc...because they cant get it right!!wtf?? (flame suit on). Lexus spent more coin on developing the 1uz,than what NASA spent puttin a dood on the moon!

if u worried about it being too thirsty best stick with a 4 banger

its only as thirsty as ur right foot makes it

I didn't find my old soarer too bad on fuel, but in saying that it wasn't real good either. On the open road sitting at 80 - 100km/h it was sensational... get over the 110km/h mark and it went down hill. Drive with the boot planted for any length of time and the thing sucked down fuel like it was going out of fashion.

I think the best I ever got out of mine was around 650km from a tank, but it was an 80ltr tank or something spastically big and I was driving ms daisy to get that far on a tank.

ohhh and to weigh into the hitech V8 vs dinosaur V8. Soarer needed 4k plus revs to be exciting and the exhaust I had didn't really make it sound all that good, but I have heard some good examples getting around, IMHO you can't go past the sound of an early Holden V8, the firing order is just spot on! And the extra torque down low feels more exciting that the Soarers top end.

changing o2 sensors on imports is usually good for a fair bit more mileage

they rarely get changed in japland or at compliance and most only have a life of about 80,000kms
