The starfire engine option has a lot to do wit why they are hated on. Christ knows i hate the starfire, its a total dog shit engine. Yeah the lx and lh are prettier, but i reckon the lj is prettier than all of them. The UC also has no historical significance either, i mean, brocky didn't race them did he?
There have been no legends written of the UC to my knowledge, people like the story behind the car.

heyy matty, guys ive seen his UC and i tell ya now it has awesome potential and is gunna fly
As for the UC bit, ive seen a few conversions with the UC front end and an LX/LH back end, looks hot
but a bit of muckin around. the only real thing that bothers me about the UC is that the tail lights stick out about an inch
but other than that they are shit hot

IMO, I like the UC better than the others as it's a bit more individual. Did one not so long back with a blown 383 wink.gif

iam doing up an lh. i dont really like the headlights or tail lights on the uc. come to think of it i dont like the headlights on an lh ever. i dont mind the dash in a uc. it stil has the torana look so i like it

People dont really like the UC mainly due to what they were. They never came out with a V8, and they were pretty much seen as the 'waiting for the Commodore' Torana.
And they never really had any racing pedigree to speak of..... they were pretty much a budget grannies car in my opinion, except for the UC SL/T which very little is known about unless you're a Torana fan!

In saying that though they look ok done up, i dont like the head and tail lights, but the hatches, with the same floorpan as the A9X and no body stress due to coming out of the factory with the lower powered engines, would make an awesome base to whack in a big juicy V8 and go out terrorising riceboys! tongue.gif

pfft, i'll take any two door torana i can get my hands on

I don't really mind them. If they came out with a V8 from factory, and had some racing history alot more people would probably like them.

I like em cos ppl hate em!!
Ive had a few in 6s and with 8s...
Dash is a bit more modern which is classy, plastic grill is kinda gay,but like the tail lights everyone seems to hate...you cant see them while youre driving it...
I do however feel sick at the thought of an SLR type flare kit fitted...this would be a crime against humanity!!!!

I hate the Uc dash, they look fucking queer. LX/H are much more stylish.
The only thing Uc's are good for are door's, boots, there front end and rust repair's lol, However ive seen a couple of Uc's with Slr type kit's and they can look fucking awesome, The uc has a tougher looking bonnet and i think the front of them looks pretty good too. The tail lights are fucked though, there massive and theres not much you can do with them in order for them too look much better unless you have fuckloads of money to spend or the patience for it.
Having said all that, there not a bad car and i was going to get a UC before i found my Lx.

I guess its just one of those things. like i am real keen on hrs but i hate the look of a hd? There just not as prefered as a lh lx. Imo i wouldnt have one over a lh lx as there is just some reason why i cant stand the look of a uc.

I don't mind UC sunbidgies....

I find the KISS principle works best on them.
nice clean straight body with a bombed 6 or bent 8

Nick Rainer (sp) UC is one of my alltime faves. Clean simple look with performance to beg for

I really prefer the LC Coupe over any and all other car wearing a Torana badge

i love them bar the tail lights.
look tuff as in the front and the dash is good

my mate and i are playing with one at the moment. i'll post a few pics when i get the chance

its running a 400hp 308 aand 4spd

its got hq stubs with commodore rotors on the front and a vl diff under the rear with disks, its whereing a set of 17's x 8s all round. and boy doesn't it got light them up in every gear with ease.

the motor can out of my hq 4dr monaro and she was a handfull then

diff ratio is 292 with a m20.

very good combo takes off with ease

It's kinda odd because the LC Coupe is probably the last Torana other than the HB that i would consider buying.

Think this pretty much sums it up. If you look at a the Beenleigh Swat Meet pics from 20.09.2009, there were a couple of good examples for future ideas. Any Torana is a Torana Mate, as long as you steer clear of the Blue Oval your doing alright!

the thing i love bout my uc is its like a ugly duckling. no one likes it but me and i know i can make it a machine that can show up lx and lh torries when its done.

Ha, Uc's will never be anything else other than a shitty old sunbird.

UcTozza78

now thats not true because as i re-call lx's and lh's had a sunbird version to so everyone think about that

These are perfect candidates for building a sleeper. Cos everyone knows they never come out with an 8 so put a turbocharged ls1 in it, it'd be nice and quiet, and would put on an awesome smoke show. I'd love one.

UcTozza78
Post #24

im leaning towards a 400 chev that absolutly roars.. but besides that it'll be a slr5000 replica

CAM-327
Post #25

matt, you have 6 years time before you can have a V8, why are you soo worried about it now...
there will be new and improved engines that will most probably be better than the 400 so whats the point..

Torrie_Man
Post #26

Nothing wrong with UC's, they make great parts cars for the earlier LH and LX models LOL!

They have radial tuned suspension
Solid mounted steering racks
Salisbury Type Diff
Some had rear discs
Centre Mount hand brake
A more stylish dash
The bodies aren't thrashed as much (Didn't have to cope with the V8 power etc)
And best of all they're cheap and great to cut up and make rust repair sections out of tongue.gif

im sayin it bcoz the comment above said there "perfect canidates" for a sleeper. he said a ls1 with turbo and i just stated the motor that i would like 4 it.....u should know by know that im into my v8s james.. uve got a chance at a nuts 202 in a hq. ive got to build my 186 yet but i dont talk about it much coz the motor wont be in it when i get my open licence. ill be droppin a v8 straight into it. and u will probly keep that motor till the hq gets sold. so atm im more concerned bout the v8 as it will be the motor that will probly be in it longer

CAM-327
Post #28

um rightio then, i havent even got the hq yet and your saying im selling it already, im gunna be keeping it for a while seeing its my dream car. besides ive got probably 5 years before i can drop a V8 in mine, so i have time to save and build it up, so i'll be putting a V8 in mine, no doubt about it. im more concerned about getting it and making it look as good as possible, not about something that im not even gunna have in the car for another 5 years.

i said uve gotta chance at a hq and what i meant was that ull probly keep that motor 4 ages... u wont drop a v8 straight into it... but i want that v8 straight away and i will have a v8 when i get my opens.. on the hq subject... hows all that goin... any idea on if and when u get it

ahh yeah im gunna, lookin at maybe a 427 down the track, but yeah i do have plans for it..

yeah i am getting the hq, dads mate who owns it says he will keep it for me no matter what, until i can pay for it.. im thinking after christmas i might have it.. anyways why would i want to stick with a 202 when i can have something bigger.. and yeah because the 202 is nuts it can be used for something else maybe (hillclimb car etc)..

Dont knock the good old 202, ive seen hardly worked 202's beat stocko 308's with ease... Nothing wrong with the good ol' Holden straight six.. Infact id prol rather have a straight six in my Torry in the long run.

UcTozza78
Post #34

im rebuilding a 186 and workin the fuck outta it. im hopein to find a head with huge ports and lifters.and double valve springs like a speedway head. a 35/75 cam, balanced crank, gear kit, liteweight flywheel, flat top pistons. bored to 60 thou roller rockers i need a better radiator coz mines stock and it wont take all that power. and all this work will go to waste

CAM-327
Post #35

186 and 202 FTW, does anyone know what an calder thunderdome 202 race engine would be worth??

OT: yeah 202's and 186's are one of the best motors along with the small block 350 chev..
none of this new school technical computerised bullshit.. (just my opinion) way easier to work on and you dont need to
poke around these crowded engine bays..

Old school beats new school any day of the week
