i've noticed a trend.. and that is that 180sx's cost a fair bit more in comparison to the overall price compared to that of a silvia...
for example your average silvia is probably $7-$11k and your average 180sx is probably $9-$14k
why is this
because as far as i know.. everything is the same, except for a slanted back/boot and popup lights...
so why do people pay more for a 180sx tthen a silvia?
perhalps there are less 180's then silvias ?
i don't know.. can someone fill me in?

For starters you have the difference in engines CA18 vers SR20 most silvias are CA and the majority of the 180's are SR. Theres also difference in looks as obvioulsy pointed out. They share the same platform ie s13 chassis so almost all componets are interchangeable I guess it would most likely come down to personal choice.....

i think because of the style of the 180SX. i would pay more money for a 180SX then getting a silvia because there more style in the bodykits u can for it.

Its all the same shit .

you just are paying for ghey pop up lights.

tho the rear end is much more sexyer on the 180 wink.gif

most silvia r NA
all 180sx's r turbo
180sx's r generaly newer then silvias also meaning most of them have sr20 motors
180sx's look 100x better
there r less 180sx's

there isnt much of a diferent in price at all when u campare the same year/condition/engine
maybe a grand more for a 180sx IMO that isnt much at all

all 180sx's r turbo

Actually not all 180sx's are turbo.... some of the earlier ones were n/a and the later type X ones (1996 onwards) there were a lot that were n/a more than turbo. Also spare a thought for americans where they are called 240sx's and come only in n/a or ka24 turbo format (read: shit engines) biggrin.gif

the only na 180sx's where in the type x range, i have never seen or herd of a na 180sx from factory that isnt a type x.

yea ALL 180sx are turbo - cept for smoe type X as mentioned

you basically are paying for the difference in look - IMHO the 180 does look a hell of a lot more sleek and stylish than the silvia - but you can do a lot too a silvia for the xtra $3k you would pay for the 180

what year did they stop makin silvias???? never found this out for sure?

OOOOOOOOORRRRRRR, could always go the bes tof both worlds and go sil80 tongue.gif:P

To get technical, the last Silvia was made around 2003 in s15 chassis.. wink.gif
But the answer to what you been asking is s13 silvia, late 93(I agree with 180degrees) cause this when they changed the 'Silvia' and developed the s14, 200sx for production released in jap spec in 94, delivered to australia late 94/early 95 = Series 1 S14 200SX and interestingly enough all were delivered in Australia as SR20DET, but the Jap Domestic Market got some N/a versions for some reason.

Silvias are $7-11k and 180's are $9-14k?
From what ive seen you can pick up a stock base model silvia (auto, non-turbo, ca18de) silvia in schmick condition for $4000, and for a stock base model 180sx (auto, turbo as they all are, ca18det) in schmick condition you are looking at $10 000 minimum, id say silvias are more like $4-7k and 180's are more like $11-14k, or at least thats how i see it. i guess 180's are more expensive because lets face it they look better, they are generally sr20 instead of generally ca18, and they are all turbo, thats just my 2 cents, i mean after all, i could be way off with my prices

Depends on whats done to the cars, because i know that there would be no chance in hell that i would let my car go for under 16K!

Although, you would have to say my silvia is far from stock...
Personally i chose the silvia over a 180sx as i love the look of them more...
i dunno they 180sx seems more common now and its really hard to pick up a silvia that actually moves pretty quickly for cheap...

as ppl have said its really just based on looks. i prefer the silvia myself though.

Sil80...

Silvia bodies are ghey, just like the popup lights of the 180

Sil80 = sex

Dont know how its based on looks thought because i think the 180 looks gay but i like the silvia, if anything i would pay more for that. But sil80's are the best thumbsup.gif

both sexy cars i would love either of em... but IMO the 180 probably looks a bit better

er.. dude, sil + 180 = both nissan, interchangable parts, also combinable to make one car, hows that even comparable to falcon vs commodore? completely different shit and smell there, engines, drivetrains, the works.. straight vs V, heavy vs light, ugly vs not

i think he means that silvias and 180s are the comparable brothers to the falcon and commodore ie so many in japan and now so many coming over here.....

i agree here.

i think the 180's look a lot more sleeklined and styled over an s13, no offence to any s13 owners, especially the last model 180's i saw a silver N/A 180 that looked magic.

isn't a 180 a s13?

i think it's all about the Supply and Demand.

more ppl want the 180 tunes.gif

Yeah but a lot of people call s13 silvias just s13's to avoid confusion between s13, s14 and s15 silvias.

I think the 180 has more style and looks better overall. Thats why I think people pay more for a 180!!!

alot of the feedback on this thread is useless and makes no since. however a couple of people have made good points. first of all as yall think 180s look better, silvias have speaker decks connecting both quarter panels which ads rigidity. the coupe (silvia) style also has less blind spot for me anyways. it is lighter, it has digital speedometer and heads up display on the windshield, it also has an electric sunroof instead of the manual one. as far as my research has gone it is also the dominant frame of the s chassis. this is why there is an s15 silvia. both models have different motors to choose from and thats where your price will differ. 91 and up silvias also carry sr20de and sr20det. i dont see how these people say its rare to find an sr20 in a silvia but whatever floats ure boat lol. i hope this post helps your question out a little
