Exactly, why not keep the hotrod/rat rod talks in here rather than spreading it all out across the forum dunno.gif

Frankly i'd rather be seein a shitload more Hot Rods and real old cars on here than the 50 million ricer shitboxes, but eh.. we need some more REAL oldschool in this area before it gets spread everywhere else i guess.

Start postin up Sled / Hot Rod pics in here so i don't have to look at peoples '84 Sigmas and other non oldschool peices of shit.

Edit: Just had a thought. There needs to be a forum for the cars that some people THINK are Oldschool, but aren't really. Such as above Sigma and others like it.

Or like DeadSled has suggested some where else maybe we should make this forums title "Pre 1978" or something because that's the borderline i would call 'old school' and even then it better be a good car if it was made in 1978.

you have a good point "old school" is classed as cars 30 years or over so pre 78/79 sounds good although there's nothing wrong with the newer stuff

i just thought i put the topic up to start a discussion on the idea in the "right environment" without having all the crap that goes on

Yeah i think your idea is great, love rat rods and leadsleds. Sorry if it seemed like i was trying to make your idea look like shit...Probably posted my little rant in the wrong thread but oh well.

Good Idea, but not sure if it would work.

There aren't all that many REAL ratrods around, so one problem would be determining the criteria.

I do agree though, that we need to weed out all the "my sigma/falcon/commodore/datsun etc etc etc scrapes into the pre-85 criteria so it's old school" mentality. Maybe split this forum into two. One for Aussie and American cars with a cutoff and one for the rest of the pre-whatever someone who gives a damn decides from everywhere else. For the Aussie/American forum I'd think pre-79 would be good, but to weed out VB Commodores (BTW I love VB Commodores!) and XD Falcons, maybe for the Aussie cars we go by model instead (ie HZ or earlier Holden and XC or earlier Ford)

Just a few ideas, not sure how "workable" they are, but something to get people thinking anyway.

I think it should just be pre '80 (Up to 1979) Aussie and American. That includes all your old Holdens and Fords, as well as Yank Tanks and Hot Rods / Kustoms / Lowriders ect.

Also frankly the whole early Commodore / Falcon / Sigma bs.. no better than some of the other shit you see in the General Discussion area..

Yes. I'm an Oldschool Elitist. Deal with it or fuck off smile.gif

thanks for all the response i started the topic/poll for people to have a say me im into hot rods and the rat style but i also love old school cars. although i dont have what some would call a true old school car anymore but my list off cars at the moment are a formula libra hillclimb car (built in 79 out off a xu1), hz 1 tonner, hz wagon, eh wagon project, fc ute future project and a barina (daily)

by the sounds off it the mods have listened and lets see what happens

like i said i put it up in here so that there wasnt the shit that goes on else where

so thanks guys thumbsup.gif

how are u goin to have a ratrod section as a real ratrod is a old school pre 1949 vehicle painted in mat black with ply floors shit brakes who here (other than deadsled) owns a ratrod

a fiberglass (or all steel) hotrod all done up isnt a rat rod

it will have to be changed to classic car pre-79 thread or have 2 forms hot/rad rod form and aussie/usa muscle cars pre-79

coz i know as some ppl on this section are very narrow minded when it comes to classic cars as a so called 1969 datto 1600 or a 1959 mini some ppl proberly wont want them in the thread

im all for this type/s of threads but where do u want to draw the line to certain classic cars (as to me a 30+yr old classic car is a classic car reguardless of make or model) unless boostcruisin might have to make 2 or 3 forms for this

some ideas for forms

all pre 79 cars

classic aussie cars (no jap cars)

american muscle cars (usa cars only) (this could be either pre-79 cars or all yankie cars ie z06 vette or the v10 viper)

hot/rat rod (any pre 1949 vehicle) no bagged low lux etc

all other pre 79 vehicles ie jap british euro cars

plz feel free to add ppl

I think we have already decided that a ratrod only forum would be unworkable and that it would be pre'80 Aussie and American cars.

Boot It,

A Rat Rod is infact one of those POS American Hot Rods.. done where there is no floor at all, rust hanging out everywhere.. the chassis is all bird shit welds and its a complete and utterly unsafe peice of shit.

What i'm building is a Traditional styled Hot Rod.

If you wana see what Traditional Hot Rods / Kustoms are like.. go on the HAMB - www.jalopyjournal.com. Very good forum. Just don't sign up and post straight away.. you'll get flamed to the shithouse. If you sign up.. read it for a good 6 months and get the feel of the place before you post something stupid.

As has been said.. the Oldschool forum basically needs to be Pre - '79 Aussie and American cars. No old Jap shit, No 80s shitboxes.. Just straight up Holden, Ford, Chev, Valiant, Pontiac, Buick, Chrysler ect.

theres already place for for these cars its called www.aussiev8.com

like i already said a classic car is a classic car no matter what country it was made and weather its rwd or fwd

i dont think nathan is goin to open up a forum just to suit a very small amount of ppl that will only be for about 5% of classic cars and only about 2% of users on this site i would to see just a pre 79 forum with all cars alloud

so only aussie and yankie cars hey

what about british classic pre 79 cars

This section of boostcruising is meant to be a forum for the owners of any oldschool cars to meet and chat. Not one particular niche of the oldschool community.

If you want it more oldschool just change the cut off date as most people have suggested already or add more sections if you want to categorize. You can't just turn the ONLY Oldschool section on boostcruising into Aussie/American only. It would be plain silly.

The aussieV8 site is a good site, but it's NOT for the type of cars we are talkin about here - there is HEAPS of modern cars on there, in fact I would say most of the cars on that site are late model stuff like commodores.

Yes, a classic car is a classic car, but we aint talkin about having a classic car forum - we are discussing having an old school forum, which by it's conotation suggests a certain style of vehicle.

Not under my watch biggrin.gif

As Phil said.. the term "Oldschool" refers to generally speaking Aussie and American old cars, but certian models such as the ones you listened usually don't get considered Oldschool.

By 60s and 70's Holdens and Fords i'm talking like Toranas, Kingswoods, Falcons, Capri, EH EJ HD HR FB EK ect.

We're talkin the kind of cars that guys in their 40s would consider Oldschool.. back when they were 20, 20 years ago. Back then a POS Commodore was a new car.

I'm fairly sure you know what we mean, you just want to argue the point anyway tongue.gif

hi guys this isnt a witchhunt i would love a owner off a triumph gt6 or a 100/4 healy come in and discuss there cars but to honest i think they would bore worried about eating cucumber sandwiches and talking about how fast there cars use to go

how about we just discuss the points that the users would like to see in her not the negatives

deadsled has some good points so has boot it and as well as all the other members that have commented

i tell you what though if the mods were worried about no one coming in here weve made two pages. lol
