What is the better tyre for occasional track duties out of the Toyo Proxes R888 and the Falken RT615? Are these the 2 best on the market in that price range? Im going to put a set on my S15 16" stock rims and use them at QR and the drags. Discuss -------------------- 260kw's

Toyo R888 for sprints 5 lap stuff at QR, I don't rate the RT615 as a track tyre but is great as a dry weather street tyre. Both have a large tread block surface so have minimal block movement. RA-1 were common for block movement creating a "squirmy" feel to them when new, but coming less noticeable as they wear down. |

I have the RT615's on my WRX, they are a good street with occasional track use tyre. When i say occasional i mean 2-3 laps then you have to let them cool off or else they do get a little greasy. But perfect for street as they wont wear out on the street as quick as the R888's will. I would rate the R888 and the RE55 as pure track tyres as they will heat up and cool down very fast and eventualy go off to fast when used as a daily drive tyre. |

My experiences with the TOYO R888's is that I've found them to heat up very quickly to the point where they can be a bit slippery by the 4th and 5th lap of a Sprint session. |

QUOTE(ITS2EZ @ Sep 23 2008, 05:54 PM) "got milk?"so how long do these (the rt615's) last on ur car with street driving?? So far i have only done about 3000kms on them, but then again the car has only done 6000kms tottal. But so far they dont even look anywhere near a quater used, and so far they have seen a fair few mountian drives ect. but i know of other users on www.rexnet.com.au who have done upto 20,000kms with the RT615's.........driving style will ofcourse have different outcomes on that. |

yeh + 1 for toyo r888's. stick as... i can't really make to much comment as to how they'd go on a s15 as i'm using them on a micra... weight makes a big difference to how long they will last too (obviously) so if i can get 25k's out of a set of 888's with a car that weighs 600kg's, you might be lucky to get 10-15k's out of the same tyre |

Ill be getting a set soon, just wondering it they will assist with lack of traction ![]() yep i use them on my track days and there awesome i am still trying to work out there correct cold starting temp though as i feel mine are getting a bit to hot by the end of 5 to 6 laps note this is on a 1800kg Ford Ute though but yeh really like there grip levels for on track would be to loud for my likeing to drive around daily on them |
