Ive had bat shit on the paint of my beloved Vl calais...

Washed it today with heavy duty car washing thinking it would get the bat shit off, it didnt!. Its like the suss shit has sunk into the paint....

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get rid of it

Thanks!

If it has been more than a day you are screwed, their shit is acidic due to the fruit they eat.

If it hasn't, get a cloth dampened with hot water and put it on top to loosen it up.

Go to your local paint supplier to see if they have any Perfect Cut, there's two forms, the purple bottle and the grey bottle i believe, the grey is very very coarse and can pretty much take off anything, just make sure you get some wax over it afterwards.

WD40 will remove it. Removes road tar etc as well. Just make sure to wash the paint with water.

Then, go top yourself......................

Takes only 4 hours for their poop to start eating away at your paint.

There are heaps of them up here in the NT, my parents bonnet on their lancer is full of major bat poop damage.

Brake fluid works a treat at removing the bat poo too........

also makes a tasty drink....... trust me Blake, go and try it!! tongue.gif

(note: brake fluid will also remove the paint as well, so dont try it. However the bit about it being a nice drink is true!)

In NT atm apparently they are mixing brake fluid with milk to try and get high in some communities.

Perhaps Blake can be there QLD correspondent to see if it works here?

if you get to it in time, a low quality paper towel soaked in hot water, press it over the bat poop and let it soak. You'll need to do it a few times before you can get the whole mess off.

For prevention, regularly using a quality wax helps. The bat poop can still eat through it, but'll take longer to hit your clear coat smile.gif

sand it off, she'll be right, it's only a vl... bowrofl.gif

After you get it off, try some eucalyptus oil over the area, i used that (well tea tree oil) to get the fused on glue off when debadging mine.

Yeah it's making them really sick.... but you should see how quickly those bastards can go from 30 to 0 !!!

Yep I'll vouch for them in the NT. Bastards are everywhere. Make sure you use a good wax on your car and will keep most of the rot out.

Couldn't you simply 'open sessame' another VL without bat crap on it?

You're good at that aren't you?

But don't forget to tell the police that you did it! It wouldn't be right otherwise.

The first time i got bat shit on my car i freaked out and went at it with a wet sponge, thinking i had a limited amount of time before my paint was eaten away.

Once i wiped it all off i noticed that the seeds in the shit scratched the crap out of my car from me cleaning it.

So next time I got shit on there, i just left it and within a few days, it just peeled off and left no mark at all dunno.gif

Don't have arseholes WTF are you on buddy??

Some useless info..
The aust fruit bat is more closely related to a monkey than any other species of bat.

The rabies shit they carry (hendra virus, alissa virus) is a class 1 biohazard.
The CIA are studying it in case someone takes the virus back to the USA for a terror plot.
Nasty shit huh. Stay the hell away from them, and stay the hell away from pigs and horses that live near bat colonies. That's how you get infected

WattsyLX
Post #32

Haha..... but i suppose IF bats dont have arseholes it would make sense, the little bastards hang upside down in the trees all day so having a shit would get pretty messy!

They invert themselves to defecate & give birth, but sometimes bath in their own urine.
