After some research I have found that the rota's are a knock off, of the rays, and are heavier and not as durable.

Is there any real difference between these twos wheels? I just want to put it onto my car for daily driving, not racing on the track or anything.

For a daily driver, save your money and get the Rotas. The Rays will give you street cred at the track and meets, which equates to nothing if you don't care, I know I wouldn't.

also every other p plater has rota grids on their d15 civic or n/a s13, if that matters to you.

Nothing wrong with the rota grids, especially for a daily driver. Great price. Great availability etc etc.

saw some P45 rotas in the wheel section

Rotas are the driftek knock off which is the TE knock off

What.
Drifteks are 5 spoke just so you know, TEs are 6.

You can get used TE37s for the price of new rotas. If you cant be bothered looking properly then rotas are alright as they conform to wheel regulations, but why cop the flame when you can get street cred for the same price?

you have no idea. you will never find a set of te37s in 18x9.5 +12 for the same price as a set of grids.

OP did not specify width/offsets, but as an example

Saw this car at all japan day today, wheels were in perfect condition.
1100 with name brand tyres, good for any forged wheel, let alone the best in the market.

I just bought TE37s with good quality tyres for $1850. Are you really saving buying Rotas?

New Rotas = 1k wheels
Good tyres = 800 at least

If you're looking to be some sort of trend setter with mad offsets, genuine probably isn't the way to go though.

The Rays in 17x7.5" are 3kg lighter than my stock 16x6.5" Alfa wheels. They're 13 years old, and they're still round.

But in all seriousness, I bought them because they were available and I like the style not just for the brand. Wheels in 5x100 are really hard to get the correct offset for my application.

NISMO LMGT4

URAS NS-01 / Bee-r Wheels

Koya Drifttek

Rota P45

Rays TE37

Rota Grid-R

Meh...Wheels are wheels..
Nothing wrong with the cheaper brands for daily drivers and cheaper brands are now starting to be more readily available in decent offsets etc. They look fine, and are pretty durable under most circumstances.

If you are going to put them under hard conditions (circuit, track work, drifting etc) regularly, then yeh sure you are better off getting quality brand name which have been built better no doubt...

If you're sideways at 150kmh round a track..you are probably more likely for something to happen than cruising down gympie road at 60kmh....the price of your life isnt worth the $1k saving.

Really comes down to what you need them for.... how much you want to spend... and how anal about safety you are.

If you plan on taking out a gutter, definitely Rotas

Ryan_1, LE37s are slightly more concave, and lip is different. Still made by Volk Racing to the same high standards.
Rotas are cast, look totally different and are profitting from another company's idea. If le37 isnt =te37, then rotas should even be considered as alternatives to Volk wheels.

OT: Even if you aren't looking for street cred, second hand Te's cost less, last longer and you can't argue with better value.

Go rotas.. Or as suggested look out for some 2nd hand forged wheels

Heres a suggestion, buy what ever you feel comfortable forking out the money for.

For a daily driver, the rotas will be fine. If the car is going to see regular track use I would spend the extra on the genuine.

If they're only paying the $1k for Rotas, they aren't going to pay $800 for tyres.

This is true, well, it's easier to drift on cheap tyres, so they don't need to upsize to a bigger Chinese turbo.

ive got 16x8+10 rota grids on my sss yeh its not a race car but i do a fair bit of driving and havent had a problem. I only brought them cause i got them at a good price as mentioned above it all comes down to how deep your pocket is regaurdless of what your using the wheels for

ShanO`

I would much rather see a decent set of tyres on a cheaper set of wheels... Instead of stuff like this...

funk yeah, lets spend $2-3k on a set of wheels and $400 on tyres...

I'm guessing that you bought these because you like the look of these wheels, and felt no need for the more expensive originals? Good for you, I would do the same, and so should OP in my opinion.
