So, the QLD Gov wants us off the streets and onto safe and appropriate tracks aye? I dont think they want that at all. If they do, then why the hell have they pressured Mt Cotton to ban drift days on the skidpans? And yes its official. I called Mt Cotton this morning and was told directly that any drifting is now BANNED on Mt Cottons skidpans. The QLD Gov says that its not the image they wish to have associated with a driver training facility such as Mt Cotton. Well done QLD Gov. you are todays winners of the MOST STUPID DECISION EVER competition. -------------------- ![]() Visit DriftZone, Queenslands premier drift club. Sad to see this, but unfortunatly a matter of time. I recieved a letter from "Honourable Judy Spence MP, Minister for Police and Corrective Services" which had this little titbit which i found amusing in regards to facilities for people to congegrate at. QUOTE I note you have suggested providing more off-road driving facilities for car enthusiasts to provide a venue where motoring can be enjoyed without the constraint of the anti-hooning legislation. Unfortunately however, the road safety benefit of providing venues for people who wish to race may not be supported by research. A study undertaken by Kloeden, McLean and Glonek (2002) from the Centre for Automotive Safety Research at the University of Adelaide found that racing in a controlled environment does not reduce the incidence of speeding on a public road. Therefore, while facilities such as those which you suggested may attract drivers currently illegally racing on public streets, it is unlikely to reduce the incidence of "hooning" behaviour on public roads and may not result in improved road safety benefits. The Queensland Government is continually monitoring new developments in road safety and will review and consider any research into providing off-road racing facilities. So its a 4 year old study theyre relying on to blatantly bring in more revenue, without doing anything to help the growing problem they have, with "hoon" behaviour............ |

Thats the biggest crock of shit I've read this year hands down well done Judy Spence You can't tell me something like QR's Friday night drift practice does not get kids off the street ... it's grown from a handful of enthusiats out there in the dark to a full catered and lit event attracting hundreds of drivers and spectators which would normally be out on the street if it weren't for events which catered to drift. |

Instead of arguing about how "stupid" the government is and how much of a "dumbass" Judy Spence is. |

whilst i agree that banning drift days, closing down tracks etc is stupid... the fact is that most people out there are not willing to pay the fees involved in participating in track events, the fees charged due to massive public liabilty costs... |

Thats not the point. Now, even if they are willing to pay the fee's and get on the track, they can't do what they want because 'drifting is banned'. Queensland - The Smart State? I don't think so ![]() |

well I'm sure (I say sure after researching the idea over 4 years) someone out there will create a 'driver training' centre where people can use a skidpan. |

Well done qld gov't... u obviously noticed alot during your study of the sport over the last 4 years. For example... oh i dont know... the huge amount the sport has grown in australia over the last four years. There were no where near as many drift cars in 2002 as in 2006, so while the number of "hoon cars" has gone up the number of "hoon" charges laid has stayed at a constant rate. That means that the ratio of fast cars, to fast on-road drivers has DECREASED! "Oh wow! I never though of it like that, I wonder why that is?" It is because these new fast drivers are taking out their urges for speed and sideways action in a SAFE CONTROLLED AREA, not on suburban streets. It may not get rid of dickheads in vn's wraping themselves around trees, but it certainly gets rid of the more extreme versions. wat a bunch of dipshits. Im 17 and i can figure that out! I'm in WA so i'm not affected, but I feel for u guys, good luck with it. I'd sign the petition if i could. |

If there has been one thing fueling the moves by our blind sighted government its things that fuel the minds of fools. |
