Gauges Gauges include the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and IMA battery related indicators. They are displayed when the ignition switch is in ON II .

Speedometer
■ Displays your driving speed in mph or km/h.
Fuel Gauge
■ Displays the amount of fuel left in the fuel tank.
Tachometer
■ Shows the number of engine revolutions per minute.
Press and hold the kmh/mph change button until you hear a beep. The speedometer reading and the displayed measurements on the multi-information display switch between mph and km/h. The display change message appears for a few seconds.
Fuel Gauge NOTICE You should refuel when the reading approaches E . Running out of fuel can cause the engine to misfire, damaging the catalytic converter.
The actual amount of remaining fuel may differ from the fuel gauge reading.

When the 12 volt battery has been replaced. When the IMA battery has been disconnected. When the IMA battery control system is correcting its reading.
The charge level reading will be corrected automatically while driving.

Electric Motor Assist Indicator (ASST)
The degree to which the electric motor is assisting the engine is displayed by the ASST indicator bar.

Battery Charge in Progress (CHRG)
The degree to which the IMA battery is being charged is displayed by the CHRG indicator bar.
Electric Motor Assist Indicator (ASST) If the IMA battery is too hot or too cold, the IMA battery’s output power is limited to protect the battery. This disables the IMA assist and auto idle stop, even though the battery is well-charged.
It takes a short time to normalize the IMA battery’s output power depending on the weather.

■ Adjust the temperature reading up to ±5°F or ±3°C if the temperature reading seems incorrect. Use the multi-information display’s customized features to correct the temperature.

Outside Temperature The temperature sensor is in the front bumper. Road heat and exhaust from another vehicle can affect the temperature reading when your vehicle speed is less than 19 mph (30 km/h).
It may take several minutes for the display to be updated after the temperature reading has stabilized.

Use the key to start and stop the engine, and to lock and unlock all the doors and hatch. You can also use the remote transmitter to lock and unlock the doors and hatch.

Key Types and Functions All of the keys have an immobilizer system. The immobilizer system helps to protect against vehicle theft.

The keys contain precision electronics. Adhere to the following advice to prevent damage to the electronics: •
Do not leave the keys in direct sunlight, or in locations with high temperature or high humidity. Do not drop the keys or set heavy objects on them. Keep the keys away from liquids. Do not take the keys apart except for replacing the battery.

If the circuit in the keys are damaged, the engine may not start, and the remote transmitter may not work. If the keys do not work properly, have them inspected by a dealer. Using the Remote Transmitter

■ Locking the Vehicle Press the LOCK button. Once:

Some exterior lights will flash, all the doors and hatch will lock, and the security system sets.
Twice (within five seconds after the first push):
A beeper sounds and verifies the security system is set.
Unlocking the Vehicle ■ Press the UNLOCK button. Once:
Some exterior lights will flash twice, and the driver’s door unlocks.
Twice:
The passenger’s door and the hatch unlock.
Panic Mode
■ If you press the panic button for approximately one second, the following will occur: • •
The horn sounds. Some exterior lights flash for about 30 seconds.
Using the Remote Transmitter Open the door or the hatch within 30 seconds. If you do not open a door or the hatch within 30 seconds of unlocking the vehicle with the remote transmitter, the doors and the hatch will automatically relock.
If the light control switch is in the door activated position, the interior lights come on when you press the UNLOCK button. No doors opened: The lights fade out after 30 seconds. Doors relocked with the remote: The lights go off immediately.

The remote transmitter uses low-power signals, so the operating range may vary depending on the surroundings.
The remote transmitter will not work when the key is in the ignition switch. The remote will not lock the vehicle when a door or the hatch is open.
If the distance at which it works varies, the battery is probably low. If the LED does not come on when you press a button, the battery is dead.

Lockout Prevention System
■ The doors and the hatch cannot be locked when the key is in the ignition switch, and either door or the hatch is open.
Locking/Unlocking the Doors Using a Key When you lock the driver's door with a key, all of the doors and hatch lock at the same time. When unlocking, the driver's door unlocks first. Turn the key a second time within a few seconds to unlock the passenger's door and the hatch.
Locking a Door Without Using a Key When you lock the driver's door, all of the doors and hatch lock at the same time. Make sure you have the key in your hand before locking the door to prevent it from being locked in the vehicle.

Using the Lock Tab When you lock the door using the lock tab on the driver's door, all of the doors and hatch lock at the same time. When you unlock the door using the lock tab on the driver's door, only the driver's door will unlock.

Press the master door lock in as shown to lock or unlock both doors and the hatch.

Auto Door Lock/Unlock
Auto Door Lock/Unlock ■ The auto door lock function automatically locks all the doors and hatch when the vehicle reaches about 9 mph (15 km/h).

■ Automatic transmission (CVT) When you depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever in P , the driver’s door automatically unlocks.
Manual transmission When you depress the brake pedal and turn the ignition switch to LOCK 0 , the driver’s door automatically unlocks.
