Glove Box on page 3‑75. 1-3 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (4,1) Initial Drive Information This section provides a brief overview about some of the important features that may or may not be on your specific vehicle. For more detailed information, refer to each of the features which can be found later in this owner manual. Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System The RKE transmitter is used to remotely lock and unlock the doors from up to 60 m (195 feet) away from the vehicle. Press K to unlock the driver door. Press K again within three seconds to unlock all remaining doors. Press Q to lock all doors. Lock and unlock feedback can be personalized. Press m and hold to unlock the liftglass. Press & and hold to open or close the power liftgate. Press L and release to locate the vehicle. Press L and hold for more than two seconds to sound the panic alarm. Press L again to cancel the panic alarm. See Keys on page 3‑3 and Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation on page 3‑5. Remote Vehicle Start With this feature the engine can be started from outside of the vehicle. 1-4 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (5,1) Starting the Vehicle 1. Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle. 2. Press Q. 3. Immediately after completing Step 2, press and hold / until the turn signal lamps flash. When the vehicle starts, the parking lamps will turn on and remain on as long as the engine is running. The doors will be locked and the climate control system may come on. The engine will continue to run for 10 minutes. Repeat the steps for a 10-minute time extension. Remote start can be extended only once. Canceling a Remote Start To cancel a remote start: . Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle and press and hold / until the parking lamps turn off. Turn on the hazard warning flashers. Turn the ignition on and then back off. See Remote Vehicle Start on page 3‑8. Door Locks There are several ways to lock and unlock the vehicle. From outside, use the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter or the key in the driver door. From inside, use the power door locks or the manual door locks. To lock or unlock the door with the manual locks, push down or pull up on the manual lock knob. Power Door Locks If available, these switches are located on the front doors. K : Press to unlock the doors. Q : Remove the key from the ignition and press to lock the doors. Press and hold & on the RKE transmitter until the liftgate starts moving. . Press & on the overhead console inside the vehicle. . Press the touchpad switch (B) on the outside liftgate handle to open. . Press the l button next to the liftgate latch to close. To disable the power liftgate function, press OFF on the overhead console. Liftglass There are two ways to unlatch the liftglass: . Press the button on the underside of the underside of the license plate applique (A). . Press m on the RKE transmitter. Liftgate Power Liftgate Use the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter or the power door lock switches to unlock the liftgate. 1-6 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (7,1) Windows The power window switches are located on the driver door. In addition, each passenger door has a switch for its own window. Seat Adjustment Front Seats Manual Seats If the vehicle has a manual seat, it can be moved forward or rearward. 1. Lift the bar to unlock the seat. 2. Slide the seat to the desired position and release the bar. Press the switch to lower the window. Pull the switch up to raise it. For more information, see: . Windows on page 3‑19. . Power Windows on page 3‑20. Try to move the seat with your body to be sure the seat is locked in place. See Manual Seats on page 2‑5. 1-7 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (8,1) Power Seats Manual Lumbar If equipped, this control is located on the outboard side of the seat. Increase or decrease lumbar support by turning the knob forward or rearward. If equipped, the power seat controls are located on the outboard side of the front seats. Move the seat forward or rearward by sliding the control forward or rearward. Raise or lower the front or rear part of the cushion by moving the front or rear part of the control up or down. Raise or lower the entire seat by moving the entire control up or down. See Power Seats on page 2‑6. 1-8 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (9,1) Power Lumbar On vehicles with two-way lumbar, press and hold the top of the control to increase lumbar support. To decrease, press and hold the bottom of the control. On vehicles with four-way lumbar, press and hold the front of the control to increase lumbar support. To decrease, press and hold the rear of the control. To raise the height of the support, press and hold the top of the control. To lower, press and hold the bottom of the control. See Power Lumbar on page 2‑7. If equipped, this control is located on the outboard side of the seat. 1-9 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (10,1) Manual Reclining Seatbacks Power Reclining Seatbacks If equipped, this control is located on the outboard side of the seat. To recline the seatback: 1. Lift the recline lever. 2. Move the seatback to the desired position, then release the lever to lock the seatback in place. 3. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked. See Reclining Seatbacks on page 2‑12. 1-10 If available, this control is located on the outboard side of the seat. To recline the seatback, tilt the top of the control rearward. To bring the seatback forward, tilt the top of the control forward. See Reclining Seatbacks on page 2‑12. Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (11,1) Memory Features This vehicle may have the memory package. The controls for this feature are located on the driver door, and are used to program and recall memory settings for the driver seat, outside mirrors, and the adjustable throttle and brake pedal feature. For more information, see Memory Seat, Mirrors, and Pedals on page 2‑10. Second Row Seats If the vehicle has a 60/40 split bench or buckets seats, the seat(s) can be folded for additional cargo space or folded and tumbled for easy entry and exit to the third row seats, if the vehicle has them. If the vehicle has bucket seats, the seatbacks can be also be reclined. These seats will have either the manual fold and tumble feature or the automatic seat release fold and tumble feature. Third Row Seats If the vehicle has a third row seat, the seatback(s) can be folded and the entire seat can be tumbled, or removed from the vehicle. For detailed instructions, see Third Row Seat on page 2‑28 . 1-11 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (12,1) Heated Seats Front Seats On vehicles with heated front seats, or heated and cooled front seats, the controls are located on the driver and passenger doors. { (If Equipped): Press to cool the entire seat. + : Press to heat the seatback only. z : Press to heat the seat and seatback. Continue to press the desired button to cycle through the temperature settings: high (three indicator lights), medium (two indicator lights), low (one indicator light), and off (no lights). See Heated Seats on page 2‑8 and Heated and Cooled Seats on page 2‑9. Rear Seats The heated rear seat controls are located on the Rear Sear Audio (RSA) panel. M : Press to heat the seat cushion and to cycle through the three temperature settings. See Heated Seats on page 2‑16. Head Restraint Adjustment Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly. Sensing System for Passenger Airbag The passenger sensing system, if equipped, will turn off the right front passenger frontal airbag under certain conditions. The driver airbags, seat‐mounted side impact airbags, if equipped, and roof‐rail airbags are not affected by this. If the vehicle has one of the indicators pictured in the following illustrations, then the vehicle has a passenger sensing system for the right front passenger position. The passenger airbag status indicator, if equipped, will be visible on the overhead console when the vehicle is started. United States Canada See Passenger Sensing System on page 2‑94 for important information. 1-13 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (14,1) Mirror Adjustment Exterior Mirrors Vehicles with manual outside mirrors can be adjusted so that the side of the vehicle and the area behind are seen. If the vehicle has towing mirrors, they can be adjusted for a clearer view of the objects behind you. Manually pull out the mirror head to extend it for better visibility when towing a trailer. See Outside Towing Mirrors on page 3‑55 . Vehicles with outside power mirrors and foldaway mirrors have controls located on the driver door. 1. Press (A) or (B) to select the driver or passenger side mirror. 2. Press one of the four arrows located on the control pad to adjust the mirror. 3. Press either (A) or (B) again to deselect the mirror. 1-14 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (15,1) Power Foldaway Mirrors To fold the mirrors: 1. Press (C) to fold the mirrors out to the driving position. 2. Press (D) to fold the mirrors in to the folded position. The mirrors may also include a memory function that works with the memory seats. To fold, push the mirror toward the vehicle. Push the mirror outward, to return to its original position. Interior Mirror Vehicles with a manual rearview mirror can be adjusted to see clearly behind the vehicle. Hold the mirror in the center to move it up or down and side to side. To reduce headlamp glare during nighttime use, push the tab forward for daytime use and pull it for nighttime use. Vehicles with the automatic dimming feature will automatically reduce the glare of lights from behind the vehicle. The dimming feature comes on and the indicator light illuminates each time the vehicle is started. They turn off after all the doors are closed. The dome lamps can also be turned on by turning the instrument panel brightness knob, located on the instrument panel to the left of the steering column, clockwise to the farthest position. In this position, the dome lamps remain on whether a door is opened or closed. k : The dome lamp override button is located next to the exterior lamps control. Press the button in and the dome lamps remain off when a door is opened. Press the button again to return it to the extended position so that the dome lamps come on when a door is opened. Steering Wheel Adjustment The tilt lever is located on the lower left side of the steering column. To adjust the steering wheel: 1. Hold the steering wheel and pull the lever. 2. Move the steering wheel to a comfortable position. 3. Release the lever to lock the wheel in place. Transmission Range Selection Mode current range will appear next to the M. This is the highest attainable range with all lower gears accessible. As an example, when 4 (Fourth) gear is selected, 1 (First) through 4 (Fourth) gears are available. Press the plus/minus buttons, located on the steering column shift lever, to select the desired range of gears for current driving conditions. See Automatic Transmission Operation on page 3‑33. While using Range Selection Mode, cruise control and the Tow/Haul mode can be used. Grade Braking is not available when Range Selection Mode is active. See Tow/Haul Mode on page 3‑39. Four-Wheel Drive If the vehicle has Four-Wheel Drive, you can send the engine's driving power to all four wheels for extra traction. Use this knob to shift into and out of the different Four-Wheel Drive modes. 2 m (Two-Wheel-Drive High): This setting is used for driving in most street and highway situations. AUTO (Automatic Four-Wheel Drive): This setting is ideal for use when road surface traction conditions are variable. 4 m (Four-Wheel High): Use the Four-Wheel-Drive High position when extra traction is needed, such as on snowy or icy roads or in most off-road situations. 4 n (Four-Wheel-Drive Low): Vehicles with a two speed transfer case have a Four-Wheel-Drive Low position. This setting sends maximum power to all four wheels. You might choose Four-Wheel-Drive Low if you are driving off-road in deep sand, deep mud, deep snow, and while climbing or descending steep hills. N (Neutral): Vehicles with a two speed transfer case have a N (Neutral) position. Shift the transfer case to N (Neutral) only when towing the vehicle. Press again to turn the sound on. After a destination has been set, the system provides turn-by-turn instructions for reaching the destination. In addition, the system can help locate a variety of points of interest (POI), such as banks, airports, restaurants, and more. See the Navigation System manual for more information. Cruise Control The cruise control buttons are located on left side of the steering wheel. I : Turns the system on or off. The indicator light is on when cruise control is on and turns off when cruise control is off. + RES : Press briefly to make the vehicle resume to a previously set speed, or press and hold to accelerate. SET − : Press to set the speed and activate cruise control or make the vehicle decelerate. [ : Press to disengage cruise control without erasing the set speed from memory. See Cruise Control on page 4‑8. 1-25 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (26,1) Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) This feature may alert you to vehicles located in your side blind zone. When the system detects a vehicle in the side blind zone, an amber SBZA display will light up in the corresponding outside side mirror. The system is enabled at every vehicle startup. It can be disabled through the Driver Information Center (DIC). If the message SIDE BLIND ZONE SYS. UNAVAILABLE appears on the DIC, the system has been disabled because the sensor is blocked and cannot detect vehicles in the blind zone. The sensor may be blocked by mud, dirt, snow, ice, slush, or even heavy rainstorms. This message may also activate during heavy rain or due to road spray. The vehicle does not need service. See Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) on page 3‑60 for more information. Rear Vision Camera (RVC) The rear vision camera displays a view of the area behind the vehicle when the vehicle is shifted into R (Reverse) on the inside rear view mirror or the navigation screen, if equipped. To clean the camera lense, located above the license plate, rinse it with water and wipe it with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic Parking Assist This feature uses sensors on the rear bumper to detect objects while parking the vehicle. URPA comes on automatically when the shift lever is moved into R (Reverse) and operates at speeds less than 8 km/h (5 mph). URPA uses audio beeps to provide distance and system information. Keep the sensors on the vehicle's rear bumper clean to ensure proper operation. The system can be disabled by pressing the rear park aid disable button located next to the radio. See Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist (URPA) on page 3‑58 for more information. 1-26 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (27,1) Power Outlets Accessory power outlets can be used to connect auxiliary electrical equipment, such as a cellular telephone. There are two under the climate controls, one inside the center floor console, one on the rear of the center floor console and one accessory power outlet in the rear cargo area on the passenger side. The accessory power outlets are powered, even with the ignition off. Continuing to use accessory power outlets while the ignition is in LOCK/OFF may cause the vehicle's battery to run down. See Accessory Power Outlet(s) on page 4‑16. Universal Remote System The Universal Home Remote System allows for garage door openers, security systems, and home automation devices to be programmed to work with these buttons in the vehicle. See Universal Home Remote System on page 3‑68 . 1-27 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (28,1) Sunroof There are two sunroof switches located in the overhead console above the rearview mirror. Vent: From the closed position, press the rear of the passenger side switch to vent the sunroof. Manual-Open/Manual-Close: To open the sunroof, press and hold the rear of the driver side switch until the sunroof reaches the desired position. Press and hold the front of the driver side switch to close it. Express-Open/Express-Close: To express-open the sunroof, fully press and release the rear of the driver side switch until the sunroof reaches the desired position. To express-close the sunroof, fully press and release the front of the driver side switch. Press the switch again to stop it. 1-28 The sunroof also has a sunshade that you can pull forward to block the rays of the sun. The sunshade must be opened and closed manually. See Sunroof on page 3‑79. Performance and Maintenance StabiliTrak® System The vehicle may have a traction control system that limits wheel spin and the StabiliTrak system that assists with directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions. Both systems turn on automatically every time the vehicle is started. To turn off traction control, press and release 5 on the instrument panel. F illuminates and the appropriate DIC message displays. See DIC Warnings and Messages on page 4‑62. To turn off both traction control and Electronic Stability Control, press and hold 5 until F illuminates and the appropriate DIC message displays. See DIC Warnings and Messages on page 4‑62 . . Press and release the button again to turn on both systems. For more information, see StabiliTrak® System on page 5‑6 . Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (29,1) Tire Pressure Monitor This vehicle may have a Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS). The TPMS warming light alerts you to a significant loss in pressure of one of the vehicles tires. If the warning light comes on, stop as soon as possible and inflate the tires to the recommended pressure shown on the tire loading information label. See Loading the Vehicle on page 5‑33 . The warning light will remain on until the tire pressure is corrected. During cooler conditions, the low tire pressure warning light may appear when the vehicle is first started and then turn off. This may be an early indicator that the tire pressures are getting low and the tires need to be inflated to the proper pressure. The TPMS does not replace normal monthly tire maintenance. It is the driver’s responsibility to maintain correct tire pressures. See Tire Pressure Monitor System on page 6‑73 and Tire Pressure Monitor Operation on page 6‑74. Engine Oil Life System The engine oil life system calculates engine oil life based on vehicle use and, on most vehicles, displays a DIC message when it is necessary to change the engine oil and filter. The oil life system should be reset to 100% only following an oil change. Resetting the Oil Life System To reset the Engine Oil Life System on most vehicles: 1. Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC. If the vehicle does not have DIC buttons, the vehicle must be in P (Park) to access this display. 2. Press and hold the SET/RESET button on the DIC, or the trip odometer reset stem if the vehicle does not have DIC buttons, for more than five seconds. The oil life will change to 100%. On all vehicles, the Engine Oil Life System can be reset as follows: 1. Turn the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine off 2. Fully press the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds. 3. Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC. If the display shows 100%, the system is reset. See Engine Oil Life System on page 6‑20. 1-29 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (30,1) Fuel E85 (85% Ethanol) Vehicles that have a FlexFuel badge and a yellow fuel cap can use either unleaded gasoline or ethanol fuel containing up to 85% ethanol (E85). See Fuel E85 (85% Ethanol) on page 6‑9 . For all other vehicles, use only the unleaded gasoline described under Gasoline Octane on page 6‑7. Driving for Better Fuel Economy Driving habits can affect fuel mileage. Here are some driving tips to get the best fuel economy possible. . Avoid fast starts and accelerate smoothly. . Brake gradually and avoid abrupt stops. . Avoid idling the engine for long periods of time. . When road and weather conditions are appropriate, use cruise control, if equipped. . Always follow posted speed limits or drive more slowly when conditions require. . Keep vehicle tires properly inflated. . Combine several trips into a single trip. . Replace the vehicle's tires with the same TPC Spec number molded into the tire's sidewall near the size. This information is automatically sent to an OnStar call center when Q is pressed, ] is pressed, or if the airbags or ACR system deploy. This information usually includes the vehicle's GPS location and, in the event of a crash, additional information regarding the crash that the vehicle was involved in (e.g. the direction from which the vehicle was hit). When the virtual advisor feature of OnStar hands-free calling is used, the vehicle also sends OnStar the vehicle's GPS location so they can provide services where it is located. Location information about the vehicle is only available if the GPS satellite signals are unobstructed and available. The vehicle must have a working electrical system, including adequate battery power, for the OnStar equipment to operate. There are other problems OnStar cannot control that may prevent OnStar from providing OnStar service at any particular time or place. Some examples are damage to important parts of the vehicle in a crash, hills, tall buildings, tunnels, weather or wireless phone network congestion. OnStar Steering Wheel Controls This vehicle may have a Talk/Mute button that can be used to interact with OnStar hands-free calling. See Audio Steering Wheel Controls on page 4‑140 for more information. On some vehicles, the mute button can be used to dial numbers into voice mail systems, or to dial phone extensions. See the OnStar Owner's Guide for more information. Your Responsibility Increase the volume of the radio if the OnStar advisor cannot be heard. If the light next to the OnStar buttons is red, the system may not be functioning properly. Press Q and request a vehicle diagnostic. If the light appears clear (no light is appearing), your OnStar subscription has expired and all services have been deactivated. Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly. Adjust the head restraint so that the top of the restraint is at the same height as the top of the occupant's head. This position reduces the chance of a neck injury in a crash. 2-3 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (4,1) Push down on the head restraint after the button is released to make sure that it is locked in place. The head restraints are not designed to be removed. The rear seat has headrests that can be adjusted up and down. Pull the head restraint up to raise it. To lower the head restraint, press the button, located on the top of the seatback, and push the restraint down. 2-4 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (5,1) Front Seats Manual Seats { WARNING: You can lose control of the vehicle if you try to adjust a manual driver seat while the vehicle is moving. The sudden movement could startle and confuse you, or make you push a pedal when you do not want to. Adjust the driver seat only when the vehicle is not moving. If the vehicle has a manual seat, it can be moved forward or rearward. 1. Lift the bar to unlock the seat. 2. Slide the seat to the desired position and release the bar. Try to move the seat with your body to be sure the seat is locked in place. 2-5 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (6,1) Your vehicle may have additional features to adjust your vehicle's power seat: . Raise or lower the front part of the seat cushion by moving the front of the control up or down. . Raise or lower the rear part of the seat cushion by moving the rear of the control up or down. . Raise or lower the entire seat by moving the entire control up or down. On seats with power reclining seatbacks, the control is located behind the power seat control on the outboard side of the seats. See “Power Reclining Seatbacks” under Reclining Seatbacks on page 2‑12. A vehicle with a memory function allows seat settings to be saved and recalled. See Memory Seat, Mirrors, and Pedals on page 2‑10 for more information. Power Seats Driver's Seat with Power Seat Control, Power Recline, and Power Lumbar shown On a vehicle with power seats, the controls used to operate them are located on the outboard side of the seats. Move the seat forward or rearward by sliding the control forward or rearward. 2-6 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (7,1) Manual Lumbar Power Lumbar On vehicles with this feature the control is located on the outboard side of the seat. Increase or decrease lumbar support by turning the knob forward or rearward. On seats with power lumbar, the controls used to operate this feature are located on the outboard side of the seats. This vehicle may have 2–way lumbar. To increase lumbar support, press and hold the top of the control. To decrease lumbar support, press and hold the bottom of the control. 2-7 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (8,1) The vehicle may have 4–way lumbar. To increase lumbar support, press and hold the front of the control. To decrease lumbar support, press and hold the rear of the control. To raise the height of the lumbar support, press and hold the top of the control. To lower the height of the lumbar support, press and hold the bottom of the control. Release the control when the lower seatback reaches the desired level of lumbar support. Your vehicle may have a memory function which allows seat settings to be saved and recalled. See Memory Seat, Mirrors, and Pedals on page 2‑10 for more information. Keep in mind that as your seating position changes, as it may during long trips, so should the position of your lumbar support. Adjust the seat as needed. Heated Seats { WARNING: If you cannot feel temperature change or pain to the skin, the seat heater may cause burns even at low temperatures. To reduce the risk of burns, people with such a condition should use care when using the seat heater, especially for long periods of time. Do not place anything on the seat that insulates against heat, such as a blanket, cushion, cover or similar item. This may cause the seat heater to overheat. An overheated seat heater may cause a burn or may damage the seat. On vehicles with heated front seats, the controls are located on the driver and passenger doors. I (Heated Seatback): Press to turn on the heated seatback. J (Heated Seat and Seatback): Press to turn on the heated seat and seatback. 2-8 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (9,1) The light on the button will come on to indicate that the feature is working. Press the button to cycle through the temperature settings of high, medium, and low and to turn the heat to the seat off. Indicator lights will show the level of heat selected: three for high, two for medium, and one for low. The heated seats will be canceled 10 seconds after the ignition is turned off. To use the heated seat feature after restarting the vehicle, press the heated seat or seatback button again. Heated and Cooled Seats If the front seats have the heated and cooled seat feature, the buttons used to control this feature are located on the front doors near the door handle. { (Cooled Seat): To cool the entire seat, press the button with the cooled seat symbol. This symbol will appear on the climate control display to indicate that the feature is on. Press the button to cycle through the temperature settings of high, medium, and low and to turn the cooled seat off. Indicator bars next to the symbol designate the level of cooling selected: three for high, two for medium, and one for low. + (Heated Seatback): To heat only the seatback, press the button with the heated seatback symbol. This symbol will appear on the climate control display to indicate that the feature is on. Press the button to cycle through the temperature settings of high, medium, and low and to turn the heated seatback off. Indicator bars next to the symbol designate the level of heat selected: three for high, two for medium, and one for low. z (Heated Seat and Seatback): To heat the entire seat, press the button with the heated seat and seatback symbol. This symbol will appear on the climate control display to indicate that the feature is on. To use the heated and cooled seat feature after the vehicle is started, you will need to press the appropriate seat button again. 2-9 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (10,1) Memory Seat, Mirrors, and Pedals Your vehicle may have the memory package. The controls for this feature are located on the driver's door panel, and are used to program and recall memory settings for the driver's seat, outside mirrors, and the adjustable throttle and brake pedal. To save seating positions in memory: 1. Adjust the driver's seatback recliner, both outside mirrors, and the throttle and brake pedals to a comfortable position. See Outside Power Mirrors on page 3‑55 and Adjustable Throttle and Brake Pedal on page 3‑31 for more information. Not all mirrors, adjustable throttles and brake pedals will have the ability to save and recall their positions. 2. Press and hold button 1 until two beeps sound to indicate that the position has been stored. A second seating, mirror, and throttle and brake pedal position can be programmed by repeating the above steps and pressing button 2. To recall the memory positions, the vehicle must be in P (Park). Press and release either button 1 or button 2 corresponding to the desired driving position. The seat, outside mirrors, and adjustable throttle and brake pedals will move to the position previously stored. You will hear a single beep. 2-10 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (11,1) If you use the remote keyless entry transmitter to enter your vehicle and the remote recall memory feature is on, automatic seat, adjustable mirror, and adjustable pedal movements will occur. See “MEMORY SEAT RECALL” under DIC Vehicle Customization (With DIC Buttons) on page 4‑73 for more information. To stop recall movement of the memory function at any time, press one of the power seat controls, memory buttons, power mirror buttons, or adjustable pedal switch. If something has blocked the driver’s seat and/or the adjustable pedals while recalling a memory position, the driver’s seat and/or the adjustable pedals recall may stop working. If this happens, remove the obstruction and press the appropriate control for the area that is not responding for two seconds. Try recalling the memory position again by pressing the appropriate memory button. If the memory position is still not recalling, see your dealer for service. Easy Exit Seat The control for this feature is located on the driver’s door panel between buttons 1 and 2. With the vehicle in P (Park), the driver's seat exit position can be recalled by pressing the exit button. You will hear a single beep, and the driver’s seat will move back approximately 8 cm (3 in). To move the seat back further, press the exit button again until the seat is all the way back. If the easy exit seat feature is programmed in the Driver Information Center (DIC), automatic seat movement will occur when the key is removed from the ignition. See “EASY EXIT SEAT” under DIC Vehicle Customization (With DIC Buttons) on page 4‑73 for more information. The memory seat and easy exit features can also be programmed using the DIC. For programming information, see DIC Vehicle Customization (With DIC Buttons) on page 4‑73. 2-11 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (12,1) Reclining Seatbacks { WARNING: You can lose control of the vehicle if you try to adjust a manual driver seat while the vehicle is moving. Even if you buckle up, your safety belts cannot do their job when you are reclined like this. The shoulder belt cannot do its job. In a crash, you could go into it, receiving neck or other injuries. The lap belt cannot do its job either. In a crash the belt could go up over your abdomen. The belt forces would be there, not at your pelvic bones. This could cause serious internal injuries. For proper protection when the vehicle is in motion, have the seatback upright. Then sit well back in the seat and wear your safety belt properly. 2-13 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (14,1) Manual Reclining Seatbacks On seats with manual reclining seatbacks, the lever used to operate them is located on the outboard side of the seat(s). To recline the seatback: 1. Lift the recline lever. 2. Move the seatback to the desired position, then release the lever to lock the seatback in place. 3. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked. To return the seatback to an upright position, do the following: 1. Lift the lever fully without applying pressure to the seatback and the seatback will return to the upright position. 2. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked. 2-14 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (15,1) Power Reclining Seatbacks If the seats have power reclining seatbacks, the control used to recline them is located on the outboard side of the seat behind the power seat control. To recline the seatback, tilt the top of the control rearward. To bring the seatback forward, tilt the top of the control forward. Do not have a seatback reclined if your vehicle is moving. Center Seat Your vehicle may have a front center seat. The seatback doubles as an armrest and cupholder/storage area for the driver and passenger when the center seat is not used. Do not use it as a seating position when the seatback is folded down. 2-15 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (16,1) Rear Seats Heated Seats { WARNING: If you cannot feel temperature change or pain to the skin, the seat heater may cause burns even at low temperatures. See the Warning under Heated Seats on page 2‑8. On vehicles with rear outboard heated seats, the buttons used to control this feature are located on the Rear Seat Audio (RSA) panel. M (Heated Seat): To heat the seat cushion, press the button with the heated seat symbol. A heated seat symbol will be shown in the RSA display to indicate that the feature is on. Press the button to cycle through the temperature settings of high, medium, and low, and to turn it off. Indicator bars next to the symbol will designate the level of heat selected: three for high, two for medium, and one for low. The heated seats are off when the ignition is off. 60/40 Split Bench Seat If your vehicle has a 60/40 split bench, the seat(s) can be folded for additional cargo space or folded and tumbled for easy entry and exit to the third row seats, if your vehicle has them. These seats will have either the manual fold and tumble feature or the automatic seat release fold and tumble feature. Make sure that there is nothing under, in front of, or on the seat. Notice: Folding a rear seat with the safety belts still fastened may cause damage to the seat or the safety belts. Always unbuckle the safety belts and return them to their normal stowed position before folding a rear seat. 2. Lift the same lever again to release the rear of the seat from the floor. The seat will tumble forward. The seatback will fold forward automatically. Leaving the seatback in this position creates a flat load floor. To fold and tumble the seat from the third rows, if your vehicle has them: 1. Make sure that there is nothing under, in front of, or on the seat. Notice: Folding a rear seat with the safety belts still fastened may cause damage to the seat or the safety belts. Always unbuckle the safety belts and return them to their normal stowed position before folding a rear seat. 2. Lift the lever(s), located on the bottom rear of the second row seat(s) on the inboard side, to release the seatback. The seatback will fold forward. 3. Lift the same lever again to release the rear of the seat from the floor. The seat will tumble forward automatically. 2-19 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (20,1) Automatic Seat Release Fold and Tumble Feature The transmission must be in (P) for this feature to work. { WARNING: Automatically folding and tumbling the seat when someone is sitting in the seat, could cause injury to the person sitting there. Always make sure there is no one sitting in the seat before pressing the automatic seat release button. Folding and Tumbling the Second Row Seat(s) from the Third Row Seats or Outside { WARNING: Using the third row seating position while the second row is folded, or folded and tumbled, could cause injury in a sudden stop or crash. Be sure to return the seat to the passenger seating position. Push and pull on the seat to make sure it is locked into place. To fold and tumble the seat from the third row seats, if your vehicle has them: 1. Make sure that there is nothing under, in front of, or on the seat. Notice: Folding a rear seat with the safety belts still fastened may cause damage to the seat or the safety belts. Driver's Side Rear Panel Button shown One press of the button automatically folds the seatback flat and tumbles the seat forward. There will be a slight delay between the folding of the seatback and the tumbling of the seat. Returning the Seat(s) to the Sitting Position To return the seat to the sitting position: 1. Pull the seat down until it latches to the floor. The seatback cannot be raised if the seat is not latched to the floor. { WARNING: If either seatback is not locked, it could move forward in a sudden stop or crash. That could cause injury to the person sitting there. Always push and pull on the seatbacks to be sure they are locked. 2. Lift the seatback and push it rearward. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked. { WARNING: A safety belt that is improperly routed, not properly attached, or twisted will not provide the protection needed in a crash. The person wearing the belt could be seriously injured. After raising the rear seatback, always check to be sure that the safety belts are properly routed and attached, and are not twisted. 3. Make sure that the safety belt in the center seating position is not caught between the two seats and is not twisted. 2-21 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Owner Manual - 2010 Black plate (22,1) Bucket Seats If your vehicle has bucket seats, the seatbacks can be reclined, the seats can be folded for additional cargo space, or folded and tumbled for easy entry and exit to the third row seats, if your vehicle has them. These seats will have either the manual fold and tumble feature or the automatic seat release fold and tumble feature. Reclining Seatbacks To recline the seatback, do the following: 1.
