hey guys
Ive got a few questions about an engine conversion

firstly i own an 04 vz s pack ute, which is for sale, but having this idea may change that.
it is currently a 2004 alloytech engine that i want to upgrade possibly
i have found a ve 2010 6.2L create motor online for 6.5K and am seriously considering the possibility of an engine swap

could anyone give me some advice on what would be needed other than the standard create motor
link below is motor

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Holden-Commodore-VE...=item255d414161

i realise i would need to buy a new gearbox and my diff is on the way out to, which im considering going a kazz lsd

can I also use the standard clutch assembly?

thanks for any help
please no stupid comments, in a genuine question and yes ive searched google, but id rather some personal advice

Probably be better of selling it and buying a SS.

Not worth it mate.
1. Resale value will be bad. If you're intending on keeping this particular chassis - this won't apply.
2. You will need alot more than 6.5k = Ls3 - 6.5k, Tr6060 - 3 -3.5k. Your v6 clutch will be too small and it's a crap one at that, weak as piss dual mass. Will need either a stock e2 clutch (twin plate as same as w427 Ls7), or either a NPC/Extreme - 1.6 1.8k. ECU, Loom, ancillaries - you're probably looking at another 3.5k.
3. Alot of your stock VZ parts will now be scrap, you will need chassis mods, like subframe etc. You will need a new tail shaft and diff.
4. Alot of extra's to support the motor - ie. Radiator/fans to suit, brake booster (possibly)
5. Engineering certificates, mod plates etc.
6. One thing you wouldn't of thought of yet - if you do the engine conversion, you will have to upgrade the brakes adequately aswell. Current vehicles running stock Ls3's have 365mm/350mm Front/Rear Rotors, with 4piston calipers front/rear min. (excluding GXP models which use 4 piston fronts/single piston rears).
7. Installation and tuning.
8. Time off the road.

You sound like a pretty young guy, my advice to you would be go on the LS1 forums and do alot more research. You clearly are way in over your head at the moment.
As others have said and I think i've mentioned it in one of your previous threads: if you are after power, either turbo your alloytec or buy an SS and start from there.
For the amount of money and outlay you would spend on your conversion, you could all but buy a 2011 SS Ute which comes with the 6L L98. For roughly a little more, you could buy a twin turbo 2007 Ve clubsport I saw on carsales.

Listen to purepunani. You will just run in to problems after problems and you wouldnt get much change from $20,000.

The best way to go about this is to buy a wrecked vz ss ute, you'll need:
Front crossmember with mounts
Gearbox and clutch
Tailshaft
Loom, ecu bcm
V8 radiator, Condenser

You can use your standard diff but better to use a v8 diff

sell it and buy a vz ss ute or a ve ssv ute. was probably your p plate car so probs has som sentimental value but your better off selling it

Hahaha @ the chev badges yes.... V6 or V8...dont matter cause they're both holden..
- the SiDi alloytec is the same engine found in the "2010 Chev Camaro" -v6 version obviously. Late model Vz (excl. hsv) onward v8's dont even have "Chev blocks", they're L98's lol made by GM.

thats only got the LS1 in it. If you were doing an engine conversion on the V6, you wouldnt just make it into a standard SS.
