Someone i knew got done driving a turbo on their P's and they faced a suspension for 3 months and got fined at the same time.
OP you are on your P's to learn the road, gain driving experience and safety. Why would you be allowed a Turbo car which as soon as it goes on boost you lose control and hit a tree minimum.

Settle down fuckwit speak to me like that come face me like a man, im only asking a question no need to get worked up about it, i just dont see the logic behind not being aloud mod plates, for example.

i can go buy a car say corolla with a 4age in it and drive it legally on my P's but to convert it to a different shell still making the same power etc if its done correctly it makes it illegal, in my opinion i just think its stupid but hey everyone has there own.

You fucking douche!

Mod plates ARE permitted for gearboxs / seats and such.

NOT motors.

It depends on the corolla.

The vehicle must have been sold here with the 4age as an option and all options like brakes / sway bars etc must be fitted in order to not require a mod plate.

Attention you faggots who are talking shit and misinforming the OP:

Mod plates are allowed for any part of the car that require them, EXCEPT the engine.

So you cannot put a different engine UNLESS it is an EXACT replacement (due to engine being wornout/broken/borked)

you can have mod plates like stated above for anything except performance enhancing modifications..
as for engine swaps, make sure there is no turbo ect and just to internals on the same block. That way the engine no's stay the same and the federale have no idea unless you be an idiot like most p plates and put a huge exhaust on..

as for seats, rollcage modifications and things, these are definetly aloud.

not so sure about brakes but i dont see why they shouldnt be, your only doing it to stop faster.

Contravening high-powered vehicle restriction - 3 points / $300
And if you're trying to do it sneakily ---> Failing to fit P plates - 2 points / $160

And jesus there's a lot of misinformed shit in this thread. A replacement engine doesn't require a mod plate if it's being replaced with the same model engine, or it was an optional engine for that model car released in Australia (i.e. it has passed ADR's as that variant of the car).
Any other engine requires a relevant LA coded mod plate. Which makes it illegal for a P-plater do drive. So don't argue that just because you own/registered a LA mod plated car in your name that you think you can get away with it (someone always does...). It has nothing to do with the registered owner of the car.
