Hey guys,

If your looking at buying a black pulsar GTiR from the goldie currently on carsales for very cheap... unless its going to be used for a track car then I would be very cautious of buying it.... Went and had a look at it and it has definitely had a serious front end smash and the repair work is terrible and very noticeable. Front lights and panels dont line up at all, in fact when looking at in from front on it looks like it is actually bent. Rail may not have been straightened proporly. Paint work looks like it has been done with a gloss black pressure pack and the passenger side panels rub on the door when opening. Also need a new power steering pump as the one in it is fubar'd and drives down a straight street like a crab The car was also complianced under a personal import too ( whilst not a issue initially, the compliance plates are screwed on as opposed to pop rivited on) Pretty much a cut and shut. Car drives all over the road, driveshafts are rooted and the transfer case has definitely seen better days. I would only look at it if your looking for a dirt cheap track racer. Plus points for the car are the aftermarket goodies such as suspension, great bitey clutch (felt brand new too) and exhaust and the relively low k''s with decent interior.

Cheers

Was all of this disclosed to you or did you notice this?

Is is price accordingly?

None of these items were disclosed prior to getting down to see the car. All seller said was that it needed 2 new tyres and a new windscreen for RWC. Only when I started to question obvious things about the car was when the answers started coming out. Really pissed me off as I drove all the way from Bris with a car trailer at 6am this morning to get it only to find out it was a complete dud. car is priced accordingly if your looking for a track thrasher though. Also car hasnt been regoed for 12 months or more. Another plus is that I did a revs and WOVR cheak and its all clear there... I guess when the person that had a prang in it didnt have insurance... May explain the shitty repair attempt

y wud u go out of ur way 2 make a post about it?

if it really does have all those problems with it, then any idiot lookin at it would obviously realise?

i dont see the point in opening a thread?

Just posting a buyer beware.... Being the car that it is for the price, a lot of younger inexperienced buyers may just jump in and buy it not knowing what they were getting into.

because, some people don't know what to expect especially if they are all excited about the purchase etc. I hate people who try and sell cars without mentioning the full history/problems with it and then try and pull the "lol should of known" rubbish. Joys of having half a clue it makes them easy to spot but not everyone is so fortunate.

nah mate ur a wanker

its a car he can sell it in fukn peice for all he cares

u like the condition u buy it, u dont u move on

maybe some1 out there is looking for a car in that certain condition, maybe also thats why the price is so low compared 2 its market value?

if u dont have a clue u shouldnt be buying a used car

u and i both know the majority of people selling cars these days hide shit, whether it be dealer or private sale

point is no cars perfect, some are more fucked up than others, but still even if u have no clue about cars u should feel it driving retartedly as we were told in the OP, at the very least u would know how 2 drive right?

Its ok to sell a car below market value if you disclose the points of the car good and bad... this guy didnt and knew that I was coming from Bris to look at it. I am warning people to only waste their time if they are looking for a track car or serious project that requires a lot of work to straighten it again and get it up to a road worthy condition. I am pissed cause I wasted half a fuckin day organising a car trailer and a mate with a tow bar to tow it, to go down from Bris at 6am on a sat when I would have liked to sleep in, only to discover the car was a piece of crap and only worth being purchased to;
A: wreck it
B: turn into a track car
C: spend a fuckload of wasted money putting it back on the street.

If he had of told me in the first place of the damage and crap that it needed then I wouldnt of wasted mine or my mates time and most importantly my money going down there. For the $150 I spend in hiring fees, petrol and food, I would have preferred to get a hooker for an hour... much more enjoyable

as a parts car for your sss it would be fine although the motor seemed tired and abused... for a car that has a lerger BB turbo and exhaust it should have pulled like a train but was very unresponsive... heater hoses weren't connected, BOV has electrical take trying to hild vacumm in, and IC was dented and not looking too good either...

I actually was interested in this car, and had arranged to go have a look, even spoke to the guy on the phone, and when asked what exactly is wrong with the car for the asking price, wasnt told what i have just read.

Appreciate you letting us know, saves me going to have a look at it now, you saved me the hassle.

cheers.

as for the other dickheads here saying why make a thread about it, why bloody not? For the exact same reason im replying, lucky for me i am not stupid and would have noticed myself, but like OP said, for a young kid with money to burn, its an easy trap.

god that sucks although it really is priced in the too good to be true bracket. wouldnt be a thread about it either if the seller was just honest..maybe he is hoping somebody buys it without inspection interstate or something

If your buying for the wank factor, then go right ahead - buy it.

Do people on the internet believe that when people crash and die in cars, that their cars go to scrapyard heaven too?

Buyer beware its that simple. You gotta make a dollar earning a living somehow. Repairing wrecks is just as profitable / respectable (if not more IMO) as pushing paperwork and answering telephones in a dental clinic or brothel.

polishstorm
Post #29

There is no doubt that you have a valid point, however if you read it correclty, my issue was the repair job was utterly sub-standard and the advertiser was very dishonest as to the condition of the car. Selling unsafe and dodgy repaired cars is not an honest living at all. And the repairer who did the repairs should be ashamed of himself to the crap workthat he has produced. This car should only be considered as a track car or a parts car.
