So this thread will be my build/ what ever I do to it thread for my hq sedan I picked up today which will be finished now that I have funds. It's an all original ( besides drivers seat ) matching numbers hq sedan, 202 on the tree, and Drum brakes all round. Still the original paint and interior, Original motor and best yet It has only a tiny bit of rust which is located where they usually go, on the corners of the back window. First thing to do is find out what it needs for RWC and then fix/ buy what it needs. Then rust repair/ respray in the same colour followed by some lowered springs/ shocks etc. Some pics: Tips, thoughts comments are welcome. Good to see another one!!! Front seat is prem, and also doortrims are Belmont. But you have a great starting car!! What are the plans?? Yes. Planning just to get it on the road as soon as possible then after that do the rust repair, a respray, lower it and just make it a nice daily/ cruiser. |

All Hq fronts look nice, but seriously keep the single light front, so clean and uncluttered! Your car though so do what you want, that was just my input It will defiantly be staying single headight. As I said in chat. I want it as original as possible. Which means buying the original radio, matching door trims and seat etc. |

Hi there. I may have some parts for you depending on what you want. I don't have all that much lest after buying the Camaro. I don't know what that bloke is smokin, but prem fronts belong on premiers..... if my car wasn't all original I would shove a single light front on it. anyways this is what I would do: stocko rims or some 15 inch chev rallye wheels, give the motor a good service, buy a booster, master cylinder and proportioning valve and some front discs!!!! this is a must on this car. venetian in the back, and some whitewalls. clean up the rusty areas and do some spot touch ups and then just drive it!!!! wish I had done that to mine, even at my ripe old age we are still learning. if you need any bits, I am northside brissie.... let me know and I can see if I can help. I have a few aquaintances with these things too. That's basically what I will be doing, Do you know of anyone who has a front brake setup including booster and all the rest? |

Fuck no it isn't, I bet you'd say the hq statesman front looks like ass too, huh. Dude the HQ stato front was horrible... Was trying to look like an oldsmobile (which is a poor aspiration to start with) and is just hideous. Keep standard HQ, or go premier i think too. My favourite is the HJ stato or caprice i think. Looks mint. |

LOOKS LIKE MINEEEEEE Actually jay i would love to get photos with yours when the XB is done... Similar styles - Tho the new paint will be more copper and less brown... but keeping white roof, stockos and such. Will have venetians. Would be great to get all the pre 85 cars that look original together for a shoot. All wear 70s gear and shit... edit the photos to look aged etc. |

Kind of does. Mint Q you have though. The chrome strip along the bottom looks good, seen it on a few stato's and doesn't really suit them. I'll be sticking with my chrome strips surrounding the arches and what not. Yeah IMO the more stainless trim the better, i know people that have thrown it all away becaus ethey think it looks "cleaner" without it, im totally the opposite. A white roof would look sweet on that too!! |
