I'm not having a go, but since when does a stripped axle equate to a busted CIG locked diff?

Get some billet axels and try again. If you put in a Hilux diff with the same shit axles (unlikely, but stick with me here) then the axles will strip again. That doesnt make it the fault of the diff does it?

ahahhahah you tried to make a fool outta me didnt ya?? putting those axles in i hilux diff is not possible DIRRR!!! the diff is in the housing which extends from drum backing plate to drum backing plate!!!! i can only use the hilux diff with with the hilux axles IN the hilux case!!! you dont just use the gears in the diff!!! ohhh and for your first question it equates quite easily!!! when the spline stripped there is a good chance it also stripped the outside spline!!!! and yes the cig locker did cause this problem as it put the stress there!!! it would almost be imposible to do in a open centre diff!!!!

Nah, you can do that fine all by yourself. biggrin.gif

Unlikely, as the "outside spline" is, by design, stronger than the axle shaft spline, so the axle will strip first 99% of the time. Axles are an almost disposable part in ultra-hi-po cars.

No extra stress with a locked diff if you're in a straight line. The same amount of torque is being transmitted to the wheels. With an open diff centre ALL of the torque is transmitted to ONE wheel if that wheel spins as it has too much torque for the tyres to handle. With a locked diff, the same amount of torque is spread evenly across BOTH wheels irregardless of wheel spin, but because you have twice the traction (2 tyres, geddit) there is less chance of spinning your tyres and more chance of breaking something. So maybe you could say it's the tyres fault you broke your axle cause the tyres didnt slip like they used to.

No, its the axles fault cause it's the weekest link.

Not gonna rant any more, coz people get sick of my bitching all the time.

hahah 89% of statistics are made up on the spot!!! 73% of people know that!!!

99% yeah mate sure thats why i have personally seen it happen!!!

1 who said it happend in a strait line i do know the theory behind diffs aswell mate!!! it happend while i was getting fuel turning on the forecourt!!!! both wheels turning at same velocity then the inside one grabed traction and the axle twisted and obviously between the 2 tyres this was the weakest point!!!

when you weld a diff locked you are in theory making it 1 axle it is joined from tyre to tyre!!!.

oh and if you think the axles are the mainly the weakest link come 4x4 racing!!! do a jump land and get huge traction and i bet ya it aint your axle. usually you will find more servere shit in ya oil!!!

LOL, I do race fourbies. You should check my profile. And then it'd be the CV's that are the weakest link, at the front at least.

But have seen plenty of diffs blow too, and plenty of axles snap, and drive shafts, yada, yada, yada.

I still say you cant blame a locker for busting an axle. But hey, you've got an opinion and I've got an opinion. Thats why we dont both live in IRAQ where 2 people arent allowed to have different opinions.

Oh, fuck no! Now you're gonna "prove" to me that in IRAQ 2 people can have different opinions.

Hang on, I'm going to bed, carry on without me.

yeah i am putting it down too the lock doing it because the axles couldnt handle it!!!

locking your diff will cause you to break an axle.

Speedway cars have locked diffs, speedway cars break axles.
