LOL seriously I used rota as my track wheel on an EG civic with B18CR engine in. No problem. We do have a budget on everything and we are not as rich as you do who can afford brand new wheels from Japan like you... well I used to but not anymore after I get married. If you talk about safety, i rather get better tyre with cheaper wheel myself instead of get those 4k wheels with few hundreds tyre. No offence mate but i have to change my brake disc and pads too so I got a budget on wheel choice and the tyre which come with the car is china made tyre so instead of getting replacement tyre, i get the whole set of wheel and Sdrive for $1600 shipped to my door =) Also i heard Work wheels from Japan crack on normal road anyway so all depends on luck =) Did you even read what I wrote ? Go untie your knickers and read it again ... Ps. I've also raced an EG with a B18CR, caged and coilovers all built from used parts bar consumables like brake pads, clutch and tyres (ADVAN A048's) ... 60.82 on the sprint circuit |

I dun have the cash for those $2k second hand wheels as this rota with s drive only cost me $1600 to my door so i cant complaint anything and again i cant wait until i got more cash as the tyres which come with the car is china made one which have to be changed. but read my old post as i dun want to tell you why i am being a tight arse. Good on you with the EG but i dun really care how fast you ran it but my rota on my EG are running just fine on the track... I am just a casual weekend tracker as a hobby and I am not a professional racer so i wont really care they are heavier than those 2k+ japan wheels. As long as it is safe, then I am fine with it. PS I AM TIGHT happy? =) |

Looks great. Kinda funny how you have Yen on the plates (although it looks like they have been changed now). Whats the story with the second rear view mirror? I wouldn't worry about justifying the wheels, they look fantastic and clearly you are happy with them. Others may choose to criticise, but they are probably forgetting that in the real world people have other things to spend money on besides their cars. |

Mate I know this all too well as a person with a single incoming paying off a mortgage by myself, so take your preaching else where OP talks about having quality tyres and having safety as part of modifying; which is totally understandable and very sensible when modifying YET Uses replicas which are known to fail under duress My question was why not use the stock ENKEI's; which the OP had on the car originally and put the tyres onto them UNTIL they could afford to buy the rims they want. The ENKEI's would be more durable and potentially lighter then the ROTA's. Instead OP is going on about how much cash I supposedly have to blow on new parts, if you're talking about that brand new hi flow oil pump I bought for my dirty Holden 202 then yeah, I'm all up in the brand new parts ...... /end sarcasm |

Replicas are known to fail? where u get that information from? ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a set of your mags which have cracked ![]() Plenty more on the internet, especially in the States where they've had them longer If you're driving a daily they would probably be fine so long as you don't hit any large potholes, but I'd NEVER trust a set of ROTA's on a car which sees hard driving |

fair enough but i do have some buddyclub and enkei cracked one for you and even volk Oh course they are, you hit anything hard enough; especially cast wheels it will get damaged But you have provided the perfect picture in the VOLK wheel to prove the argument for forged wheels while driving hard. ![]() The TE37 has obviously had multiple catastrophic hits to get to the state it is in, HOWEVER it has retained itself in one piece as it is a forged wheel. So in the case of an accident there is still a chance to steer the car clear of danger Now notice how ALL the ROTA's fail, the metallurgy of wheel is brittle and the spokes / barrel crack clean through, so ask yourself how much steering do you think you will have if this happens to you ... |

As mentioned in the above posts, the guys caliper came loose on the track and struck the wheel. Rota wheels are very strong and are tested to the same standards as high end wheels from Japan. Rota wheels meet all JWL/VIA test standards which says a lot about the strength of these wheels. In the end they are a cast wheel though and if struck hard enough they can bend/crack, as with any wheel. The same 3-4 broken Rota wheel images always circulate the internet in an attempt to slander these wheels and give them a bad name. Rota has no control over an accident and when someone crashes their car in to a curb there is a likely chance that the wheel will break if it's impacted directly. All of the current Rota designs are very strong and I've had customers run directly in to curbs head on which resulted in a popped tire yet the wheel only had a minor bend on the lip. Here is Rota's testing equipment that every new wheel goes through. These wheels are very safe to use on the street and track. We have a lot of Time Attack teams running Rota wheels, one team that constantly was winning almost every event last year was GST Motorsports. Quote from GST Owner/Tuner Mike Warfield "We have smashed burms, jumped the car and done all things brutal we can and we have never hurt a Rota rim ever. For sure the best wheel for the $ and strong as hell. Mike" ![]() Advan wheels.... cracked in the street... bad things do happen on cheap or even expensive stuff and I understand you get what you pay for but yeah I dont mind a set of good wheels if I got the cash =) |
