just picked up this from Big W for only $298 to replace my old fat PS3 that YLOD'd. great price as the official price drop was only to $349!

Yeah might look like a mix of a kitchen appliance and a kinder toy but at least its a shitload quieter than a xbox 360. Also is playtv worth it?

ot: picked mine up today, they gave me all 3 games instead of just 2 :thumbsup:

Heard a few people complain about how it looks. I just don't understand it. Who cares what it looks like? It's a games console, it's just gonna sit alongside a dvd player or bluray player on a shelf in a cupboard. I don't get it lol.

People are shallow, also who the fuck would still have a dvd player and a bluray player if they have a ps3... But yeah some people care more about presentation than practicality, brother refuses to use the grey stand that comes with his wii as it doesn't match their tv and cabinet as well with it on. <_<

There are many people who place more importance on form, than function. Just sleep easy knowing that the shallow faggots who care more about how fashionable something is than how functional it is will pay a premium for a lesser device.

i cant really remember the last time i heard my 360, i just install every single game that i buy. but yes, this slim PS3 is whisper quiet too, at least while idling and using playtv.

as for playtv, yes its definitely worth it IMO. the EPG is fantastic, the picture quality is great, and it changes channels much quicker than the HD tuner built into my Bravia. having said that, if you dont watch much free-to-air tv then its a waste.

its not being shallow or placing more value on form over function - people as a whole like things that look nice. the original PS3 was a nice looking unit, so going from that to this matte black oddly shaped childrens toy looking thing is a bit disappointing. i hate what it looks like, yet i bought one, so i dont see your problem? im allowed to think it looks like rubbish.

Brightlight leds have a huge sale on ATM. Ideally i would have bought a $1500 vision X from the states but considering this is $1000 bar and they are selling it for $400 its just too good to pass up. August sale only, they had 100 units of each size so hundreds of bars and they all sold out in a few weeks, the reports from the first round of buyers are amazing and the pictures from each customer certainly made the decision for me. Having spoken to a few guys running them at a recent 4wd comp these ones are a real winner, cant wait. Still has 8000 lumens output which is more than the rigid industries equivalent of 7900 and the extreme top of the range vision x bar is 9000lumens and thats from the 10watt, so for $400 for a $1000 bar i had to grab it !
