stock as a rock engine. already has lowered and tight suspension, heavy duty clutch 3 inch exhaust with a 5 inch canon n stuff, so its drift ready i guess, just needs a diff, im trading my sr20 silvia for it, and all over the internet the sr20 is the more powerful engine, which is pretty good considering the rb is a 6 cylinder and sr is a 4 cylinder. but it seems that i am going to loose the power. from what ive found on the internet 170kw for the silvia and 110 for the rb20 skyline. are there any mods i can do to get the skyline running like the silvia? also with the 3inch exhaust, will i have gained power? or lost it? should i put a stock one back on?

i cant turbo the car because im on my p's otherwise i would chuck in a turbo engine.

so apart from exhaust, what else can i do?? air intake or somthing? lol i dont know much bout cars, but i know all you guys do

Yeah...

I'm going to have to disagree winter.

I would say RB25DE > SR20DE > Aids > Reaper > RB20DE > RB20E

wow, you guys are assholes, i asked a simple question, thanks alot guys. really you helped heaps. im not good with cars, i just want to learn and do a few simple mods, get on the scene. but instead all you do is criticize and make fun of the car i have and the engine i have, did i ask if it was good? no i asked what mods i could do. but instead you were all just assholes, thanks heaps guys really, you should be ashamed, you all need to start somewhere. think about who gave you a hand, and who treated you like crap when all you needed was a bit of a helping hand

if anyone is willing to help im all willing to listen

thank you to the people that actually do care on this website

and to all the heros that think that there shit is better than everyone elses

I think it's more disbelief that you swapped your SR silvia for rolling failure.

Can I just ask why?

And I'm not being silly either.

you have been given advice

it was quite sound advice, consisting of "stay the fuck away from the rb20e" plus in the first reply of the thread "don't bother modifying the rb20e"
i mean literally:

He is right, the R33 came out in an RB20E.

I remember looking into this when I bought one years ago.

It is a shame that the HC33 Laurel (specifically, RTB's old one) had a 20E...

Would've been better with an L28E still.

the silvia is a dogbox. had a fucking locked diff sounded like shit fucked paint, fucked everything. suspention was fucked, not to mention stock. this r33 is in nearly perfect condition, bodykit suspention new clutch. the swap was worth the loss in power to not be embarssed everyday of my life, silvia = fail

Drop an RB25DE into it? Problem solved.

Ok.

Now that makes sense.

What doesn't make sense however is you are saying you are going to fit the RB25DE.

Smart move.

But why waste money on the RB20E

You can pick up a RB25DE cheap as, the money WASTED (and that's exactly what you are doing) fucking with the RB20E would almost get you the conversion.

is the RB25DE a legit swap for P platers? or is that the grey area again like E30's

It's Legit.

It was sold with the RB25DE as an option thus does not need to be mod plated, thus making it legal.

gen-u-wine_6t9
Post #27

yeah guys, of coarse i would chuck an rb25de in it if i could, but you can only swap it with the engine that was in it, i.e rb20e with rb20e im pretty sure. but also i am going to drop a new engine in (a turbo one, most likely rb25det) once im off my p's. but to chuck an rb25de in and then an rb25det later is just stupid. all i want is a little bit of extra grunt, im not talking like major fucking 20 grands worth of mods just a few simple things i.e air intake, reprograming stock ecu. shit like that, but i dont know that much about cars, and just needed a bit of a hand

ok well if that is the case, easy i will chuck an rb25de in it, now the question is, if i get a rb25det and take off all the turbo components and put the engine down ect ect how bad is it? and can i just chuck on all the turbo stuff once im off my p's with no troubles??

i have a mate that can do it for me, i just want to know how bad it is for the engine to take off all the turbo components when its stock turbo?

ok what he is saying is that due to his research he thinks its only a rb20 e but the guy that sold it to him said its a de which there is avery good chance it is .
I understand why you want to move from a shitty silvia to a nicer more presentable car , not every one wants to drive around a bucket of shit so they can pretend there a drift champion in the maccas car park like a lot of people on here .
As far as mods there really isnt to much you can do on any sensible budget to an engine like that, sure there is cams , extractors ,head work and so on but it will get dear quick and only give small gains . I recommend you just make sure the car is running rite as nissan meant it to and leave it like that untill you get off your p's . Do other mods on the car but not the engine .

Ignore all there sr is arrow sign than this crap an sr20de and a rb20de have the same power there just alot of people around who think sr20's are the greatest engine because there yet to drive a full sized engine .
