Post #1 post 26th December 2004 - 11:25 PM
im on my L's and i no i shouldnt be driven but aye i do. last night i got caught by the cops ohnoes.gif doin 95 in a 60 the cop was nice about it and put on record i was doin 85 so i didnt lose my lisence thumbsup.gif . i no i was in the wrong and didnt try to get out of it and i will be payin my fines but i was just wonderin your thoughts on the road speeds around commercial areas. fare enough during the day when there are lots of cars and people on the road the speed limits are there for safety but at night when there is nobody on the road its hard not to speed. in the 45mins i was pulled over only 1 car passed me and this is on a usually busy straight stretch of road. i still cant see the danger in what i did and i stand by the fact i have never not had full control over my car.

also any thoughts on learners bein able to drive auto's by themselves if they have a certain number of hours on the road ( say twenty) with a proffesional instructor? dunno.gif

any comments bout my 2 suggestions would be great

That's why you have to have your L-plates for at least 6 months. You're not as good of a driver as you think you are.

learners are just that, learners. They dont know anything about driving so yes your actions were more than reckless. They will say a million scenarios can happen and will, speed limits are in place for a reason. Theyre there for all drivers of ALL vehicles, can a 90 tonne B double do a higher speed and stop or corner on those roads in the wet? Although there are speed limit areas that should be raised, more often than not the speed limit on that road is there for a reason, so all motorists can drive on that road at any time and in any condition and still get to there destination alive

im on my L's and last night i got caught doin 95 in a 60. the cop put on reccord 82 so i didnt lose my lisence (thanks champ). i was wonderin your thoughts on higher speed limits during the night when there's pratically no cars or people out. i was on a straight stretch of road at the time and i will now not drive like this anymore purely because of the fines not because i thinks its unsafe.

also any thoughts on learners bein able to drive autos on their own after a certain amount of road driving experience? thats what i drive and my instructor told me to stop having lessons till bout 1 month b4 my test in may cause im already a good enough driver ill just need to practise gear changes

you dont lose ur licence mate.
u get a choice of "No learners for 1 year"
or
2 points for 1 year, but u can still go for the test.

dont drive on ur learners
simple as that.

You posted it 3 times.. well thats how it came up here anyway.

A night, it has its ups and downs, there are fewer cars on the road, and a lot less people walking around. But, you can't see as much, most people get tired at night and what about all the drunk people on the way home. The speed limits should stay.

Also its just stupid letting someone on their learners drive by themselves, no matter how much experience.

You are a dickhead.

I just thought i should re-emphasise this. The fact that you can't see what you did wrong proves you're a moron. Though not as much of a moron as the copper who should have made sure you wouldn't get your licence for at least another year.

night is the worst time to speed.

your vision is restricted to as far as your headlights can effectively illuminate, so as your speed increases, your reaction time/distance ratio gets worse.

the speed limits just fine.

what if you had hit a cow or something? chances are if it was daytime you would have seen it.

no way should learners be let out on their own, its dangerous enough as it is. the time limit for learners is there for a reason, to protect you and the rest of us on the roads.
and as for higher speed limits at night, thats just the dumbest thing i've heard. at night there is less visibility and more chance of you missing sight of something small on the road, no matter if there are less cars out or not.
