i think one of the people at teh front, maybe the car behind the Heat should be blowing the airhorn..

Guys...re the airhorn/s, not sure if this is a good idea or not yet, as you dont want to cause any alarm...50 cars thundering along in convoy will be impressive enough, particularly with some of the exhausts that are fitted....

The Heat will be there with bells on...I have been able to get all the approvals and can also advise that we should be able to a motorcycle escort as this is the inaugural event. Everyone wants to make sure it goes off well.

The big thing is to show the public of Darwin that performance car owners are responsible road users, hence blowing airhorns may not be such a good idea. We can do the siren and flashing light thing on the Heat though, no problemo.

I think the airhorns are harmless, aslong as they are used sensibly.... it's all a bit of fun, and if it irritates the odd few people so be it, i don't think it can retract any of what we are trying to accomplish! i'm sure i'll be on my car horn! But yeah air horn would be good to start off the cruise! Massive you are now the blower, unless i find a celebrity on the day to 'toot' us off...

One other point guys...please make sure all cars are registered and roadworthy. The last thing you would want to occur is for some member of the public picking up on something that is not legal and having us in the lead supposedly sanctioning it or turning a blind eye to it. (That would make it a really bad day at the office) That cant happen as it undermines the credibility of everything you are trying to achieve.

If you have number plates off, please make sure they are put back on, make sure tyres are ok and the safety features of your cars are up to scratch. If you have lost a number plate, make sure you go to the MVR and apply for a new one. As long as you have applied and you carry the receipt you are legal.

Please check to see that your rego's are current, your licences are current and if you are on "P's" make sure you display them. Its no shame job and with the big who har at the moment about P platers and performance cars down south, it is a good way to show everyone that a P plater can own and drive a performance car (or for Vh's benefit, a family car facesjump.gif ) responsibly.

I am positive that everyones cars will be spick and span but everyone needs to make doubly sure no one has any cause to criticise as the eyes of the Territory will be upon us.

So peoplez just double check (wax, tyres, tincl, reg & santa hat) everything before Sunday, I know i will be, and i am driving a 2003 XR6

BTW. It's called the 'SCHKUDA-2'
Some may remember 'SCHKUDA-1' from the days of the warf being open...

We would like to invite you and as many friends as you may fit into your car to join the first official Charity Cruise for Kids this Sunday, December 19th.

Entry is by donation of a toy or charity item, or by gold coin, with all procedes going to the Salvation Army Christmas appeal (whatever it is?).

People wishing to join in or to have a look, are advised that the cars must begin travelling at 2pm so we recommend you make every effort to turn up by 1:30pm to make sure you don't miss out on the action. In order to keep everybody together, please communicate on UHF frequency (??? I recommend around 8 to 12)

The cruise route will take us through the City towards palmerston via a 'scenic route'. We would like to appoligise in advance to anybody who gets caught up in traffic.

You get the idea. ^_~

I think it is actually Palmerston Salvos Christmas Appeal as opposed to The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. It is still all legit but there are a few sections. I was asking the guy in charge of the salvation army up here if he knew about it, but he didn't. I sent him the link to the thread, and I am have to make sure i take lots of photos for PR up here!!!

I hope i haven't put my foot in it unsure.gif

Just look out for the guy hanging around a bad commodore with a camera and a salvos shirt on. That will be me. I'd wear the salvo uniform, but it isn't the most flattering piece of clothing, and is pretty uncomfortable to drive in anyway!!!!!!

but for the radio, are we going to give them a script to read because if so i think it needs to mention both of the main ideas behind this event.

the fact that we are supporting the Palmerston Salvo's Christmas Appeal but also that this is an event to "bring together" the car scene in Darwin, Young and old, car ethusiasts alike smile.gif

Ok guys,

Big news.... i need everyone down at "Barramundi bay" from as close to 12.30pm as possible, we will now have a check in table, for all cars to register with the cruise!... if you have friends coming tell them to be there before 1.30pm at the latest!! thanks guys!

As soon as you get there make yourself known to me so that i can give you some jobs!!!!
