So the other half went on the pre cruise with you guys yesterday, and told me that the guys from the HEAT are trying to "take over" this cruise? Are you happy or angry about this?? ALso I can try and find out more if you want. I know a guy here who works on "the heat" .... i can ask him about it.......

Why do they always take credit for shit that has nothing to do with them.... HONESTLY......

Gentlemen, forgive my frankness but some of you really need to turn down to the 'doof doof' long enough so you can hear an offer of help when it comes along. Its obvious that many members of this forum are verging on the paranoid and believe that 'we' (police) have nothing better to do in our spare time than to 'monitor' forums so we know what everyone is doing. Get serious guys. People wont be disappointed than that I have finally 'posted'.

Australians pride themselves on living by a creed of giving people a 'fair go'. I would hope members of this forum also live by this creed and give us a fair go. A couple of days ago I came over to this forum to find out about the Xmas cruise after being invited by another member. I have been quietly reading the comments on this forum for a little while, and am really disappointed in some of the comments by members, some of whom wouldnt recognise someone offering you the hand of friendship if it was washing your windshield. They prefer to hide behind their anonymity and let their prejudices cloud their objectivity.

Firstly, neither I or the Heat team has the remotest interest in 'taking over' your cruise OR claiming the credit for it. Fake XU1 had a great idea and I thumbsup.gif applaud him for it. I heard about the Xmas cruise on another forum and simply offered to help 'if we were wanted', if not, fine, no skin off our nose. We dont get paid for any of these activities, we do them in our own time, because they are good for the community and we enjoy cars just like the rest of you. If our participation in some way could help the cruise be more successful, added some credibility to it or help show the general public that not all guys with performance cars are irresponsible sociopaths, then maybe it could help change some perceptions. The bike run didnt just happen, it took a lot of work and help from people from all sorts of backgrounds. Now look at how successful it is and how much credibility it has.

I still have not committed TheHeat to the cruise yet, and wont unless we are invited by the organisers and are welcome by the participants. I have not even applied for the permit that we would need and have to pay for in order to participate in this cruise. So dont fret, we are not about to gatecrash your cruise. If you dont want us there, fill your boots! No one is going to go on a defecting rampage or tip off the rest of the Police force if we dont get invited.

Finally, I dont know who the members of this forum talk to for 'the drum' about The Heat, but I can tell you, there are only 5 people on the team and I am responsible for it and what the team and the car does. If people want to know about TheHeat come to the source and ask dont listen to people who may not have the whole story. sadwavey.gif

Fair go guys, we only offered to help because I thought the cruise was a good idea.

By now you should know that the guys from THE HEAT are top people trying to help out us darwin people with road safety

being female you could blame your post on PMS or a blonde day , but i think you should pull your head in a bit

Well well well...

TheHeat...

I dont know why ICE12 didnt rock up to give the Nissan logo a real triumph on the weekend but anyway...

Not to seem rude or anything cause Im not trying to be but I think its better we dont have these social and community recognised cars. What if yourselves "TheHeat" get in your own personal purpose built cars eg the guy that drives the green EH Ute he is a bike officer, ICE12 is an officer and I dont bet there aint a few more. If we are all known for our own creations and not something thats been built by the government/police force it would be a geater thing and we would stand out for who we actually are not who we are being.

If this was a corporate/government/business thing I would be getting mud boggers, drag cars, and drag bikes all to either go to or meet up at the place but its not about that this is about all of US and our INDIVIDUALITY! I welcome you to our cruises myself but not in "TheHeat" but in your own Street Machines that you have put your pride and joy into.

If I had a nice daily driver like many of the members of this forum, I'd be honoured to drive it in the cruise, but I'm afraid a daggey old landcruiser just wont cut it Blownhrd. Just a small point of order though re TheHeat my friend, it is 'our' creation. Not a cent of government/police force money has gone into it or been spent on it. The generosity of Darwin businesses that believe in what we are trying to do for and with performance car owners in Darwin is what has enabled us to set up the car like it is and when we dont have that, we dip into our own pockets to improve something we dont individually own like you guys...TheHeat my friend is our pride and joy that we very much believe in, but we are getting off the topic...

Thank you very much for informing people like myself that TheHeat is your own creation. I would have thought otherwise as you can see.

Again, I apologise for posting in this forum on a subject that is not associated with with Xmas cruise, but just to clarify, TheHeat is owned by Beat the Heat(NT) Inc which is a non profit organisation that I started earlier this year. So it isnt owned by the Police Force. The Commissioner is our patron but the association is there primarily to encourage drivers of performance cars to enjoy them safely and legally at recognised racing venues. All team members participate in all activities in their own time, work ont he car in their own time etc. Have a quick squiz at the website..it tells all. (www.beatheheatnt.org.au)

Please dont apologise there is nothing to apologise about...on here you are one of us (well thats the way I think of it) only that you drive a community supported vehicle. I think it would be great if you guys put a BOOSTCRUISING.COM sticker on your car hey??

TheHeat
Post #148

No problemo... Thank you. You get me the sticker and we'll display it. If it helps members know that we are there to support them and encourage them to use their cars responsibly and if we can do that with them, all the better.

Is there any particular reason, TheHeat, as to why you don't seem to participate in the drift days/track days down at hidden valley?

I've seen the car down at just about every (street)drag meeting i've been to, yet never seen it do a lap of hidden valley with the other drivers out there?
Maybe it's just me, or my bad memory as to why I havn't seen it, but in my opinion that would be another good avenue to advocate your cause.

...aswell as the fact i'd just love to see the heat out there lighting up the tyres around a few corners of hidden valley. smile.gif

Hmmmm yes why is that... fair enough on the drift days because it just aint drifting its more like power sliding. What about some track days or is it just not worth it. BTW the stick NOTE TO FAKEXU DUDE WE NEED SOME STICKERS HERE!!!!

TheHeat
Post #151

White FC we'd love to do drifting but unfortunately until we get another car to add to the team we cant. TheHeat is set up for street dragging (straight line stuff). The suspension set up is for drag racing and the caster on the front end is not great for turning corners. Its also got a spool diff in it....so both rears drive at the same time. Now before you all gnash your teeth and say 'Its not street legal', you could run a spool in your car on the street but I'd hate to pay the tyre bill...they are not practical for road driving thats why LSD's came in.
It is also hard to move TheHeat because until we have finished our trailer we have to rely on the generosity of Winnellie Towing to flat top us everywhere because the car isnt registered for road use.

Could I make a suggestion, If someone wants to start a seperate thread re TheHeat, I'd be glad to answer any questions on there. I am just conscious of hijacking this thread which has been set up to organise the Xmas Cruise.

In any case, I think the day will be great, and it'll be good to have a recognised car along with us. Kudo's to Fake who's put his effort into organising this event. I have no doubt that with the support from everybody it'll be an enjoyable day.

Make sure you're telling whoever you can about it too people!

Well, atleast some issues have been sorted out, you can't please everyone!!! rolleyes.gif

TheHeat - this is a formal invite to attend our charity cruise, and i would be more than happy for you to take the lead! thumbsup.gif

On with the cruise news...

I have some donation buckets for the cruise, for those of you willing to take donations on the day! thumbsup.gif

James at the salvos is putting together a team for the collection, there will also be cold drinks on hand at our arrival! Let's not forget this is a Charity cruise, so let's be charitable to each other too! hsdance.gif

Hopefully in the future, (obviously with more time to organise this event!) we can make this an annual cruise, and with people like 'the heat' taking the innitiative to get on this early it can grow and grow!

I'll orgainse stickers with 'zeet', so come and see me on the day! *1 reserved for the heat*

and on another note, let's not forget this is a public forum... you have a right to your own opinion, just have a read of your message before clicking "reply"! tongue.gif

i believe the more the merrier biggrin.gif .

so bring on the shiny lancers and 180 Datos. Its all 4 a very good cause biggrin.gif

food biggrin.gif I am thinking it would be too much hassle in the drive thru's

so if we can get some numbers together on who would support a BBQ on the beach, we could hold the food on ice in a few of the cars.

TheHeat - I think one reason people were skeptic about you coming along is because of bad experiences with cops in the past. But I think itd be great if you decide to come along to the cruise (even though I wont be here).
I also have 9 boostcruising.com stickers left (I got 10 for free) so if you want one let me know and Ill drop it round anytime.

Also, 9 prolly wont be enough if the plan is to give some out to cars at the cruise. I think a few are already reserved. shamrock_stickers (I think) from the forum, has offered to give me them at a discount rate so if we need more let me know!

Thats all from me. Should be a good day, shame Ill miss it.

My thoughts are from bad experiences with the cops in the past. As in my other post in the heat thread. I respect what you guys are doing for the off street meets.

My problem is with the way the police handle modified cars in certain situations.

I have no problem with the heat attending.

Getting told to follow cops for my car to be checked out at T wharf on a saturday night after I have bought something from a servo is what I have a problem with.

Thanks guys...no offence taken Minorci, I said my piece and got to stand on my soapbox (15 mins of fame), thats the end of it. As I said a little while back, happy to help where I can.

As for the experiences some of you guys cite, I cant say anything on here and it would be improper for me to criticise either side without knowing the full circumstances of every case. Fault can lay on both sides. Can I say one thing though, people get treated the way they are treated. That goes on both sides. Attitude can be tough to deal with sometimes and sometimes people make mistakes. Owners of performance cars cant label every cop as a dictatorial **** hole just because they might have been chipped for a bald tyre, faulty light, no number plate, running a tad fast etc just as cops cant label all owners of performance cars as Hoons just because they drive a nice car. Tolerance belongs on both sides and rules is rules.....and those rules are there to ensure your safety and the safety of every other user of our streets. We dont make em....we just have to do what we are told like everyone else. Just because some people may not agree with the rules is neither here not there....if we had no rules, the world would be a crap place to live in.

Hey man I think everyone has had bad experiences with *to point fingers* the young cocky cops who are trying to get a reputation. Over the past 6 months of driving my ute I have been pulled over many the time for silly things but everytime I was let go because everytime the officer just said get it fixed and that the car looked great. The only time I had a problem was with a YOUNG COCKY COP who decided my seats werent legall but when showing him my papers he tried to do me for anything he could. Oh well didnt get me for jack shit...

But you guys from THE HEAT are most welcome to come on the cruise... would be sweet going for a drive in it myself!!

TheHeat
Post #163

I look forward to having a good look at your ute one day blownhrd....just remember, many of the guys on this forum drive cars most of us only dream of owning. Sometimes its nice to be able to have a look just to admire.
The worst thing about having TheHeat is its a totally awesome car and only going to get better, but whilst it looks and drives like a normal car, individually we dont own it, cant put it in our garage or use it as a daily driver and only get to push the pedals once a month 7 times a year sad.gif

You guys can enjoy your cars all year round and gloat as the rest of us look on admiringly.

Captain Avatar
Post #164

I've had bad experiences, however, I'm not one to go and say I was 100% right in any of these experiences.
I think my record will show that I'm a fairly responsible driver, and generally drive with due care. I've had two first hand offenses in my car that I've been charged with (as in by the police on the spot).
one was speeding in a 40 zone (thought it was 60) and I accept I was wrong, and i didn't fuss, and was helpful with the police. The other was a crash, and was charged with driving without due care (which is a normal occurance in those situations).

I've had 3 or 4 speed fines via camera's in my entire driving career, and mostly when I was younger.

These days I'm a fairly sedate driver and prefer to keep my play to a minimum, or where I can guarentee the safety of anybody around. I certainly will NOT 'play' with someone else in the car.

That said and done, I'm not guilt free, there are times even now, when I do something stupid, and afterwards, I think it over, and realise it was stupid... I may do it again, but even so I'm fairly cautious.

What I would like to see is people more concerned about safety instead of if there's a cop around the corner ready to bust their ass if they do something stupid.
And lets face it, if you do something stupid, you take the risk of getting busted, and you deserve everything they throw at you.

White_FC
Post #165

Yes, well all have had 'experiences' with the police, one of mine of note was the attemped search of my car for drugs, anyway, this is getting even more off topic.

Anyway IMHO we should keep this type chit-chatter out of this thread since it is a pinned topic about a cruise that will be happening soon.
There is a whole forum here to post new topics in smile.gif

Back on topic now..

...so are there any other rotors that are lined up to be comming on this cruise, or is my shitbox going to be the only one?? sad.gif

Lets try and keep it on topic! We can make another thread about police nonsense if anybody wants too.
Somehow we've gotten from a Charity Cruise to how our cars have been searched tongue.gif
