Why is there always one fucker that ruins any V8 supercar thread with the "bring imports back so we can kick ur ass"

i mean for fucks sake with the crowds that v8 supercars is pulling compared to the production car series i cant see it being changed anytime soon, and personally i dont want it to rolleyes.gif

Isn't Peter Brock racing with someone this year, and he is definately the undisputed king of the mountain, otherwise i hope the holdens win, preferably bright, i think he deserves to win and hopefully he can win the series too.

Maybe if the imports were allowed (and yes, I mean the entire "production car" series, not just bathurst) then Holden and Ford would have to start developing their cars and engines to keep up.
Surely 1400 KG barges with engines based on 100 year old technology (pushrods, etc) cant be classed as "cutting edge" and need to be upgraded or replaced.

OK, if the V8 series was marketed as a "vintage race series" then they would fit right in and could happily rock and roll their way around, but this is meant to be Australias premier motorsport competition and we're stuck with dinosaurs.

Maybe because the race is meant to be australian cars, reason why they are still using the 5 litre V8 cause its australian built. And there aren't many Australian car company's that have v8's neway.

personally i wish GTR's were still eligable... and i dont like skaife either, cept for the fact he drove the R32 GTR to victory, but apart from that i hate him... he thinks he is protected in the series and if a racing incident happens which involves him he crys like a bitch as if hes being picked on...

Nothing compare to the rumble those v8's prduce and it would just wreck the whole thing if you bought in cars that can't get their power from the motor, but have to get it from a bolt on and go round the track sneezing the whole time. it would just destroy the whole thing. Their Aussie Cars not bloody imports. you wanna see your nissans in you better start trying to convince nissan Australia to create a V8 powered car. So far Toyota have been the closest to getting a car in the V8's with the Avalon being powered by their V8.

ahhh well they can do it with amazing technolodgy and when you consider power compared to displacement i think they deserve sum more respect then what you just gave credit for MCS-83. I In turn also give V8s credit, as they are able to make good power and sum whopping torque... i would just love to see an R34 running around bathurst though, as i think the GTR earned its spot in the bathhurst race all those years ago...

The V8 supercars run on a 5L NA fuel injected engine.
The bathurst 1000 is run by the Australian V Eight Super Car Company , not the Misc import brigade. The procar series was the series for the likes of the GTR's ets.

As for the winner, my money is on the Greg Murphy/Rick kelly combo with skaife/kelly second and tander/Mconville third.
Go the mighty lion.

no trd corolla, the V8's don't need a supercharger to create the power they make. as i want turbo said, they are naturally aspirated, no bolt on's.

i cant wait for the introduction of the other Aussie delivered v8's. It will really shake up the Holden and Ford camps.. I believe Toyota is in discussion and Mitsubishi is knocking on the door... not that ive ever heard of a mitsubishi v8... it just doesnt sound right.

and Phill: i think the ford guys have done their fair share of winning this year.. its not their fault when it comes to Bathurst their cars are somewhat lacking in reliability.. smile.gif its just a Ford tradition. biggrin.gif

Well in typical F*^# style, dear old Marcus Ambrose crashed his beloved Pirtec into the wall on top of the mountain laugh.gif on the very first practise lap today. Even after they repaired it, he could only manage 13th.

Ohhhhh now for the sweetness of it all today, good old defending champion Murphy has the quickest time so far, and still hasn't got the grip on the car right yet as it suffered from poor grip.

Don't worry Dion, I'll be nice and gentle come 5pm Sunday. I promise I will use KYB to make it easier on you laugh.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Dude, richards, bright and Murphy all drive commodores.

Up the mighty lions!
Ambrose didn't only put the car into a wall in the first race, he then suffered from a valve train problem in the second practice mwhahahahaha. It'll be good to see the blue oval bent over a barrel, just hope that the lion uses a good quality lubricant!

As if it has anything to do whatsoever with ford or Holden these days.

It all comes down to good team strategy and good driver.... today’s v8 supercar is nothing more than a fully integrated roll cage with panels welded on, they don’t even start with a complete car anymore.

Same computer
Same Diff
Same ground effects
Same heads
Same capicity
same gearbox

The list go's on.

May the best team win, be that ford or holden.

psi999 - there is always a downer in the group, and you're it. Not just strategy and good driver - suspension setups, camber, fuel usage...man the list goes on.

You'll be eating your words Rick.

Dont worry Dion.... Bathurst is a long event.... a little fender bender in the first practice session isnt going to bugger up the weekend!

Go Ambrose!!

.

and what does that have to do with ford or holden hoon?... or did you miss the point of my post rolleyes.gif

suspension setups, camber, fuel usage would very much come under team strategy.... (setting camber so tyres achieve optimum ware so less changes are required, fuel usage so less stops are required… every second counts).

I think we’ve found our downer wink.gif
