Unless you get an engine conversion or give it some Forced induction the car will never be fast, accept it and don't waste your money.

Chiptorque turbo kit is your best bet, but costs approx $5000.

Another option is a 1.8l out of an elantra, or a 2ltr engine from a tibby, but if you can find one, the conversion (incl the engine) will come in close to what the turbo kit costs.

Well I don't like excels and espically the riced up ones....which is what most modified examples are but it seems like your after something different....

My suggestions would be....

Full exhaust

Intake (CAPPA have a twin throttle body kit for about $1200 I think, and with some Pod filters and a propper cold air set up you'd probably be looking at about a 15 to 20% gain, about 65kw atw which is estimated by CAPPA)

Others you could look at depending on budget would be a set of cams (or get the factory ones modified) and then get it properly tuned on a dyno.

When I had my seven I remember racing this dude on the gold coast and he was in an excel. It went pretty fucking hard to ... after the race we both pulled over and he showed me what he had etc... he had a bolt on supercharger kit that he bought and did himself. That an an exhaust and maybe a bigger fuel pump - can't be entirely sure.

No internal engine work whatsoever. I remember asking him if it was all good with no internal engine work and he was like ' yeah man the engine light is constantly on but after a while you just learn to ignore it ' smile.gif

But it did go.

I've read some articles that have alot of info about these engines. They respond well to exhaust and filter mods, but really start to shine after the computer has been tweaked. Those are your best, cheapest mods. Maybe a cam re-grind into something a little more pronounced.

If you got 6 grand to spare, there is a supercharger unit you can get that'll just bolt right in. It's some hot shit I tells ya! http://www.capa.com.au/kits_hyundai.htm <-- you'll find the supercharger kit, turbo kit and the twin throttle manifold there. The twin manifold unit is prolly the cheapest mod in the site...might be a go-er too.

And as for the rest of you, this guy is asking for help, not to be bagged on about what car he drives. Fuckin grow up.

Hoon : you speak words of wisdom - but immaturity is an unfortunate side effect once some people have anything to do with computers or a keyboard whatsoever.

I have read somewhere about an excel doing 0-100km/h in 3.7secs.  This thing had NOS and all sorts of other stuff.  Prob could only do one run before being rebuilt again..

If you were going to spend some money on it, I reckon you need forced induction, to get the best out of it.  Otherwise wait and get a rotor or some other fast car...

dude! u and ur rotors!

but yeah i reckon an excel with a 13b could make a nice little project!
