umm excuse me, i do know a bitabout cars, being a qualified mechanic and all. So your telling me that the leaf sprung solid axel rear end of some xe falcon is better than the independent rear end of a datsun 180B???? The IRS setup IS better, the diff housing is bolted to a subframe, this minimises UNSPRUNG weight. leaf springs are shit, so is the front suspension setup of a xe,xd,xf with the supid 'A' arm and shock arrangmenet, not to mention the stupid rivited in ball joints hahahahahahaha, im NOT saying the datsun is faster, JUST that its a better engineered car! and by the way mate he has a falcon and its a V8, wouldnt touch a 170 pursuit,200,221, or 250 crossflow with a pointed stick. Just because there were lots of falcons sold doesn't make them a good car you idoit. After all we all know a hemi 6 engine shits all over a falcon 6! Um, I do understand how an independant rear end works, and all you ramblings may actually be relevent if not for one thing! The XE Falcon DOES NOT HAVE a leaf spring rear end!! ![]() It has a 4 link arrangement! The XD had a leaf spring rear end, as did all the classic GT Falcons before it, and it is a suitable design for a car of that size and weight but the XE and XF changed to a 4 link rear! Why the fuck are you rambling on about old 6 cylinder engines aNyway? Mine is a 351 V8, so all that crap is irrelivent to me! Me thinks YOU may be the idiot!! ![]() |

XF's weren't released with a 351 in fact I remember theres some old advertising material in my old mans shed that crows about how the injected 4.1 made more power than the old V8's... Anyway, your car can hardly be called stock. Likewise, if the 180B has a FJ20/CA18/SR20DET don't be too surprised. |

haha, lets just clear some stuff up here. I dont have an XF Falcon, I dont like em cause I think they look weird with a rounder front and a square arse! Yes Chivsding, you are correct, they were never released with a V8 because there was a fuel crisis at the time and the V8 was canned for a few years because they were politically incorrect |

You obviously haven't driven something with an awesome full manual auto box with stally in it then. I converted mine from 5 speed and its the best thing I ever did to the car |
