See, now everyone is starting to make sense! I am gonna sell all 4 of my Falcons and buy up as many old, rusty Datsuns and 1.3 Ke70 Corollas as I can, cause they are clearly the classic cars of the future! |

You have missed the boat my kiwi mate.... the ksevs and dattos are already overpriced....the smart operators jumped on the bandwagon a few years ago and have already bought n sold them all..... The pintaras is where its at now..... Lets go into partnership....ill buy them, and you can airbrush prisemans underpants on them.... I can see it now....we will call the business POO4U....we coulds even make car adverts with adam sandlers "piece of shit car" as the theme song... |

Big respect for the Black Dodge though, THAT is a tough car, and given the choice between driving that and a Corolla, I suspect 99 percent of people are gonna go for the Dodge! Even hard core Corolla lovers, lol. And if they say differently, theyre lyin, lol! Fair thing to say... But it depends if you want to go for a 'cruise' or you want to go for a 'drive'... If you were forced to give up one or the other, which would it be? Just sayin.... Hosestly, I couldnt pick either, because my heart and soul has gone into both! |

Come on now mate, we have to draw the line somewhere! Pintaras?? Really?? I remeber seeing a review of one of those when they first came out, in Driver magazine. The dude said it was "the worst handling, worst braking, most uncomfortable, ugliest and most plasticky car he had ever driven! But, on the upside, it didnt have enough power to get you into any real trouble, so its not an issue, lol"! |

umm excuse me, i do know a bitabout cars, being a qualified mechanic and all. So your telling me that the leaf sprung solid axel rear end of some xe falcon is better than the independent rear end of a datsun 180B???? The IRS setup IS better, the diff housing is bolted to a subframe, this minimises UNSPRUNG weight. leaf springs are shit, so is the front suspension setup of a xe,xd,xf with the supid 'A' arm and shock arrangmenet, not to mention the stupid rivited in ball joints hahahahahahaha, im NOT saying the datsun is faster, JUST that its a better engineered car! and by the way mate he has a falcon and its a V8, wouldnt touch a 170 pursuit,200,221, or 250 crossflow with a pointed stick. Just because there were lots of falcons sold doesn't make them a good car you idoit. After all we all know a hemi 6 engine shits all over a falcon 6! |

Just as a note for the qualified mechanic in da house...I have never seen a XE sedan with leaf springs....XEs are coil springs mate. And on another note....the 250 2V 6 in stock form is gruntier and has more torque than a stock 245....and will give a stock 265 a bit of a scare too.... NOT coming from a qualified mechanic, but as someone who has owned more holdens, fords and valiants in the last 18 years than i can remember.... |

Lol, well, I feel a lot better now that I have this useful piece of advice from someone who "knows their cars", hahaha. In that case you would know that the XD won Bathurst in 1982 and the XE won in 1983 (as well as many other important races), and the 180b won...oh thats right, it didnt even have enough power to get up the bloody hill, lol! In fact, the Falcons won enough races to win the Australian Touring Car Championship both those years! Luckily, you dont need a car that handles well to win any of those races ![]() Yes, its slab sided but so are most 80s designed cars, steel presses of the day were limited in the shapes they could efficiently press out, its typical of the era and I happen to like that ![]() As for a shit engine, its the same bloody engine thats in your dads XW and has powered Falcons, GT40s, Mustangs, Torinos and many other classic Fords for generations! Its an old design, and thats why I like it! I like Supras too, in fact, I have 2 of them in my shop that Im working on right now! Wouldnt own one though, cause they have no soul! I have owned an R32 GTR Godzilla and that old car would whip my old Falcon 10 different ways, but I still prefer my V8 ![]() As for the 180B, it was a shit car when it came out, and its a shit car now, in fact, Im surprised any have survived, lol!Actually, Im surprised you didnt know that, because, as you said, "you know your cars!" My Grandmother used to drive one to church on Sunday and it was good for about 120ks flat out! Exciting stuff! Id own a decent one too, problem is, they didnt make a decent one ![]() Tell you what though, Ill happily meet you somewhere in my poor handling Falcon with the shit motor, and race your 180b for pink slips! You can even throw in some corners if you like ![]() ![]() i know im a bit late here but i only just read this page.. wanna race my 'shitty 180B'? goodluck beating it.. |

Are you for real? ![]() If there was lots of them sold, that must mean people have been buying them...and if they werent a good car,how has the falcon survived for 50 years?.....for 50 years our bestselling family car has been a lemon!! Well, consider this....Taxi drivers use their car to make a living. So their car has to be as reliable as clockwork so it can be on the road at all times making money....If falcons are so shit, why have they been the cabbys favourite for 50 years too?Ive seen numerous falcon ex cabs that have done over 1 million klms with basic maintenence....And ive also owned a 94 LTD ex cab with nearly 1.4 million.... Remind me never to get my car worked on where u are working, coz u seriously have NFI |
