hey guys, just wondering what is needed to do to replace the gasket/seal on the sump in a ca18det silvia? do you have to remove the engine from the car?

Thanks.

Having never done it, I would assume you unbolt sump, drain oil, clean gasket off with scraper on both the block and sump, place new gasket on top then bolt back up and tighten/torque up.

Sure, just jack the engine up or be prepared to get on your back.

They dont use a gasket,it is a liquid sealant...

But yes you can drop the sump whilst it is in the car, there is a bit of work involved, so before you do, make sure your issue is not related to the front or rear main seals first...
