i do get flammed for just trying to take good shots and learn.. yeh alot of ppl have helped me by giving me their opinions and it has helped me developed more..

but other times i'm left devastated and dont feel like i have the confidence because i get shot down with some pics i feel proud that i took..

Get a Grad ND filter for those previous two shots i reckon. I like the under exposed foreground, but not the overexposed horizon.

AMS Imagery
Post #324

how much do they cost??

ps. If you're wanting people to blow smoke up your bum there are plenty of photo forums out there just for that.

Forget the drama and focus on the good and bad points people have to offer about your IMAGES and use them to improve. It's what we are all here for smile.gif

Really? Is what why I keep coming back? I thought I just fell into habits easy..

ND grads are cheap as, about the same as CPL's but you can get different grades and types, like soft and hard etc.. wiki it.

HDR you can do manually as long as your camera shoots in RAW, just shoot at the proper metered exposure THEN expose TWO STOPS (shutter speed) OVER that, then TWO STOPS under that. Done. For a hard scene just expose more with less stops, e.g. 5 frames with 1 stop difference.

No need for camera set-up!

My ND filter cost $44, its a cokin P series but you need to get the holder and all the bits, roughly $70 for the setup without any filters.

ummmm well.. i tried that a few times i have gone out.. then used photoshop to merge them with the HDR function.. but i dunno.. when i was compiling it all together it didnt look much different.. and yeh the d80 shoots in RAW...

i'll try it again.. and will wiki about the ND grads and see if i have enough money this week to get the full setup..

cheers guys..

Hmmmm what you need is a quick tut on HDR's.

Open those 3 raws in the HDR util, personally I have 1 raw in which I run off 3 TIFF's, i add a little contrast to the base if i want prior.

3 tiffs are then merged to HDR in Adobe Brige. Once I am happy that the display has no extreme blow outs i click ok and then the fun begins.

Go Image > Mode > 8 bit, this converts the 32bit HDR to 8bit.

Click Method: and chose Local Adaptation, now use the curve to make your HDR how you like it. Easier than Photomatix eh? But it produces a different looking HDR also.

You could just do layer masking for that instead of HDR if you don't want to go the full HDR look.

I know this is only my opinion, but low is not always best. Favourite would probably be the one of the two colts. Even though, yes, they are colts. Haha

mmmmm it was just to cut out the building that was on the left..

Agreed with Lance, 9 has the potential but I also see what your saying so my idea is.. move the car, thats the whole point of cars right? they move and shit? tongue.gif

cutting off cars in frame sucks 99% of the time, it's like the dutch tilt.
