You do realise that 'photochop' is just a witty pun for using 'photoshop' to edit an image?

Using other programs is what we commonly refer to as "editing images"

Im afraid the words "photoshop" and/or "photochop" (as its recently developed into) have all been used to refer to images that have been edited with, yep, you guessed it! PHOTOSHOP! For longer than i can remember.

So please dont trample anymore internet heritage, www.goatse.cx (which was commonly used to refer people that make such posts as this to) has already been taken away from us.. DONT TAKE ANYTHING ELSE!

yeah it is commonly refered to that cos ppl get "photochoped" stuck in their head, cos a lot of ppl use it.....

photoshop is for editing pictures too......
just like paint... and photosuite and shit like that....

same shit, different program, it all does the same in the end if you know how to use it

I'm certain the term "photoshopping/photochopping" an image has been around far before half you people that post here were ever on the internet..

What gives them the right to change its meaning?

says the 22 yo genius here thumbsup.gif

not everyone knows everything

that is why he is asking what programs are used... he obviously doesnt know too much about it.... therefore asking for "photochopping" (editing) programs that get used.... so he can ge tto know more about it all

Yes,

This is exactly my point..

NOT EVERYONE KNOWS EVERTHING!

Why do you think im adding my posts in? How is he gonna learn unless anyone tells him? really..
If no one tells anyone the reasons etc.. they will continue using words incorrectly that have been around for ages..

Its all well and good to say what program you are using.. but just dont say using mspaint.exe is "photoshopping"
Thats just ridiculous..

So to set it straight.. by all means.. tell them what programs you use.. just dont use terms that arent real for what you use to edit pictures..

THAT IS ALL

Good day sir!

I agree, must be the supiriority getting to them laugh.gif

It's like when you where in school and after a year or so you feel like your better than the people just starting dry.gif , ahh well but I agree it is irritating when people mis-use terms.

Umm.. as a senior member i only have as much access in this area as you do anyway.. so i dont see what the problem there is? How did i use any power other than posting (thats all i can do in this area)

All i was getting at was you were misrepresenting a word.. im just having my say? Can i not do that as a senior member?

I never made any comments against what you were saying, just pointing out the origins of the word "photoshopping" and when/where to use the word.

Im unsure why you took offense to this, as it was not a personal attack, merely stating as i said 'the origins and uses of the word'

Have a nice day biggrin.gif

When I Photochop I use Photoshop.

Sometimes I use Paint Shop Pro, but that's not Photochopping, that is Paint Shop Prochopping.

Tard.

This has stupidly gotten out of hand, answers to the original question:

Adobe Photoshop (very expensive, unless you know someone with a copy and that's err, bad mm'kay).
Jasc Paint Shop Pro (free evaluation available for download).
Macromedia Fireworks

Then there's the usual's like "mspaint" that come with various versions of Microsoft Windows, extremely limitted however.
