QUOTE(mooingchicken @ Jul 6 2008, 09:22 PM) was a good night as good to see bigger crowds getting to these sound offs. but seriously piss the DJ off. for a few reasons. 1. the SQ cars, how do u expect people to judge cars while the car is rattling from the PA's. 2. they have to be the WORST set of speaker/setup i have ever heard, shit i have heard $100 PA systems that sound better. 3. the DJ really should learn how to level set. more bass dosnt translate to u being better. i think you need to listen to what is coming out of the PA system, not just your headphones. 4. the event is a sound off, which means 95% of the people have big audio systems in there car, and the other that dont are looking at gear to buy, this is why people go to these events because they are intrested in CAR AUDIO, not so horrible sounding PA speakers. so let them listen to the car stereo systems. taken note of what you have said champion. In all honesty its the biggest crowd i have seen in a long time at a car audio event, next time a bit more entertainment weather permitting. In relation to the DJ if its held at OA a DJ setup will be present. If you would like to help in organising the event and making it easier to get the judging done send me an email to more than happy to make it work. Creating an atmosphere is what we want and i believe the DJ and car show event is all part of building the crowd to future car audio events. Peace |

Well I think a solution will need to be looked at for the SQ side of things. Might just be if you continue to have a DJ he's down a few notches or there is a designated judging section for SQ well away from all the noise and resonance. |

Peace i agreed in my first post that it was a big turnout. but thats also attributed to the fact that SQ was held in conjuction with SPL aswell and a show and shine, something which hasnt happened this year (as far as im aware anyway). i didnt see it posted anywhere there was going to be a live DJ, so i doubt this drew anymore people there. every show i have been to previously (over the space of 3+ years) the show cars always have there stereos going which creates an atmosphere. remember this it isnt a night club. DJ'ing is a passion of mine. so dont think im attacking it because i dont like it. also i know im not alone in thinking it was a bad move. quite a few people mentioned that it was bad, and not just from SQ competors. but seeming as u have aready said no matter what there is going to be a DJ. PLEASE hire some decent gear. or maby the DJ didnt have his gains and eq set right, i honestly didnt want to go close enough to find out. i dont know if u happened to stand infront of them but i wanted to cut my ears off. and put some thought into the layout so the SQ people can judged without there cars rattling. I dont know if you know the SQ judging process, but the judges listen to the detail in the music, its what sets good setups apart from great setups, and the more background noise there is makes it fairly hard to listen for, especialy as most people will listen to a setup just abit above talking level. |

piss the DJ off, my vehicle was 20m away from the DJ in SQ and my car was still shaking and vibrating from the DJ. It was so hard for the Judge to judge my vehicle because of it, why waste money on a DJ when you have cars like DD phils X5 and some of the other big systems out there, use theirs vehicle they were plenty enough before the DJ started. People go to see cars not hear some horrible DJ playing crappy music |

yeah i guess the idea of a dj was good in theory but the fact that the event was encorporating an SQ event.....or even added onto the SQ event as such it didnt really work well |
