QUOTE(Raym @ May 8 2008, 10:21 AM) If they're really common (s13, Soarer, Skyline) then i imagine they'd be pretty easy to get. JZX100's are still pretty new to the country. Wasnt there a thread a while ago about someone wanting a new door for a Chaser, and they had to wait for it to be shipped from Japan? Ah yeah I see what your getting at. Don't recall the thread, though I haven't been on here long ![]() |

I'd much rather have a Soarer than some 318i that is 5 years older and has twice the mileage. |

Yep your right, a heap of parts need to be sourced overseas cause there's none 'wrecking' in aus. I'd say soarer, cheaper and much easier to come by parts. |

QUOTE(Dicko1 @ May 7 2008, 11:00 PM) also i've heard that the chaser is lighter than the supra, does any1 kno if its tru? Chasers are marginally lighter, about 50kg from memory. QUOTE(HSV @ May 8 2008, 09:55 AM) Chasers were 98% Auto which is why manuals are so rare and expensive to buy. Dependent on the model of Chaser, depends on the weight. They ARENT exxy to buy parts for if you know where to look, they share the same suspension components as the JZX90 (EXACTLY) as well as other items. Easy to get power out of if needed. Buy a Supra and get the whole "Supra" tax that everybody charges when selling Supra gear. It's more than 98? of Chasers that are factory standard manual, similar to Soarers I believe which is just under 10%. I actually own a factory standard manual 91 model JZZ30 Soarer for the past 5 years and it still has just over 90,000km on it. Apart from door trims, blinking dash, never have a problem with it mechanically. Don't buy a 5k shit one, look into it and get something decent for a bit more. Soarers are great, I have always loved the shape and the interior. Mine is on Tein coil overs, so it handles pretty good too. I also own a JZX100 Chaser Limited Edition TRD Pack which I have had since start of 2007. It has a high flowed HKS GT2835R turbo, GReddy FMIC, Haltech E11 V2 ecu, 3.5" RSR exhaust system, Bosch fuel pump, new fuel lines, Sard fuel reg, custom fuel rail, 550cc injectors, Haltech coil packs, D & W ignitor, etc. Puts out 350rwhp through the standard auto box on 17psi. Chasers are great, nice interior, mine has all carbon fibre surrounds around the dash and door cards etc. Comes factory standard with tv but needs an NTSC to Pal convertor. Best thing is, still not many around so it still turns lots of heads. Not sure about cost of parts cause it never needs any. I have sourced plenty of cool aftermarket gear direct from Japan, such as LED tail lights, etc. I have owned 2 Nissans in my life in comparisson to 5 Toyotas, of which I still own 3. Toyotas are my personnal preference. This is a bad shot of mine, but you get the idea. |

QUOTE(DAL32 @ May 8 2008, 12:35 PM) Chasers look pretty sweet. Not a fan of the Aristo, and Soarers are played out to the max. Not to mention you have to compete with fags who put Lexus badges on them. If you're the kind of fag who buys a car to be "different" (lol they're all mass produced 15 year old imports), then all other features of the car are irrelevant aren't they? I still reckon its all about budget. At 15k, a cheap soarer with some mods will perform better than a stock supra or chaser. At 25-35k the Supra wins out because of the 2j. At an unlimited budget who gives a shit, because if you throw a pile of cash at any of these cars you'll walk away with more horsepower than you could ever use. Stock for stock its TT supra all the way no question. |

I can't see a chaser being less than that. apparently supras curb weight was 1 456 kg or 3210lb's so over 1400kg which i was pretty sure about. the chaser is 1470kg so very slight difference considering you get a heap more space and 4 doors |

It's funny watching the trends. Everyone wants to be different, then too many people pick the same thing and it becomes common, and everyone looks for something else. |

Skylines used to be the cars everyone wanted, then everyone bought one. Supras were still kind of rare, so everyone wanted them. Now they're common, so people start looking at Aristos and Chasers. Same thing is starting to happen with Legnums and Galants, etc. Yeah that's why I'm considering maybe selling my JZX100 before the ass drops out of the market for them. I hope they never become as popular as skylines. |

If you want something different, look ahead of the pack. Haha too true, and then you have the minority like myself who doesn't give two hoots about being 'different'. I'm looking at an S14a or R33 GTS-T for my next car, I just love turbo nissans. ![]() |

IIRC its about 1.5-2k for a good R154 box, that probably doesnt include the pedals or master/slave cylinders. Also you need to make up lines, new clutch, theres also about 5 different selectors as far as i can remember for the R154 (so you have to find the one to suit your car, or else the gearstick will poke out at the wrong spot). |

Basically a whole lot of bitching around to do the conversion. Although there are kits in Japan (sposedly) for the JZX100, dunno how much they fetch though. ok cheers mate |
