Well i noticed that the shell down the rd from me has finally been taken over by coles. As i believe all shell servos have been.

Does anyone have ne info out the takeover?? are they still gunna sell Shell Optimax that is so popular?

as far as i remember reading
coles have taken over about 400 shell servo's? (please correct if im wrong)

i would think that they would certainly still sell optimax
its bascially to put them in the same position as wollies with their range of servos

as long as they still sell optoimax i think this is a good idea, if they have the same discount setup. That way id save heaps becose i shop at both woolys and coles

more competition with woolies. more discounts. sweeeet

I thought it wasj sut an arraingement like Damone said, coles just went into a partnership with shell or something? Either way, bring on the cheap fuel discounting wars thumbsup.gif

Pity the small service station owners that are going to be screwed by this though, ill stick with some of the local freedoms and IFS cos their usually cheaper anyways.

Um Basically all Shell has done is gone into a joint venture with Coles to sell budget fuel to loyal customers similar to the scheme offered by Woolies with their Plus Petrol Scheme.

Because Coles couldn't afford to set up individual fuel stations they approached Shell.

The Fuel is Still the same it's just the volume sales which are adjusted.

Shell has the bonus of having access to more customers through the scheme and Coles has the bonus of being able to offer a competitive offer to rival woolies. So everybody wins.

Coles hasn't bought out Shell or vice versa, they are just in a joint Venture.

I know a bit about what's going on. I'm guessing all of of Q.L.D. Shells changed over last night at midnight. Optimax will still be sold yes. It's basically just done to keep up with the Woolworths petrol plus system. Same basic principal as The Woolworths grocery docket system. If anything it should be good for everyone

All it means Is Ill be flogging receipts from work that customers leave behind, and switching from BP Ultimate to Optimax, if theres even a difference between the two.

Unfortunately there has been a recent tightening of World oil production which will see prices once again rise over a $1 a litre in NSW for Regular unleaded.

So Petrol won't be very cheap for much longer!!! sad.gif

thats due to the state government paying a 10 cent per litre subsidy to qld fuel stores

um you do realise that a saving of 4 cents per litre in .........say a 50 litre tank only equals a total of $2.00 saving per tank. Hardly Cost effective if you have to travel further to a coles/Shell than a normal servo..........say a BP which is local.

mmmm, im sure bp will come up with something to counter it, they cant be that stupid....

yeah i work for the woolies warehouse and because coles have taken all the shells woolies have decided they are merging with all the caltex people. all it will change is the signs out front and the selection of groceries inside as far as i'm aware.

Coles has taken over Shell down here in victoria. Its GREAT!!@!
Your shoppa dockets entitle you to a 4 cent per litre discount... which is much better than the dodgy safeway 2 cent shit.

Optimax is still on sale, nothing changes.

no such thing as a petrol war...opec sets all the prices and all servo's follow...the bigger servo chains used to sell cheaper than the smaller ones (cheaper costs) now they'll be the same..unless you have a docket...who wins?

any other industry it would be considered price fixing...

Exactly right!! And do people realise, by the time they shop around for fuel to get the cheapest price, it ends up working out the same if they just paid the original full price they saw to begin with.. Kinda funny what some people will do for a bargain, but yet they arent really saving money wacko.gif

Thats correct. I had a 4c discount at a Woolworths station and I saved a huge $1.68. The discount is printed on the receipt.

woo hoo dry.gif yay

Not worth the change all you BP Ultimate fans. Anyway I heard that Optimax does naughty things to some engines.

It's totally False Economy when it cones to minor savings like a measly $1.68 per tank. And i think alot of people are like myself who never really Fills the tank Completely. I'm Usually only ever just topping it up or putting in what i can afford at the time. So the savings are even Smaller.

IFS offeres discount cards if your a loyal customer. Gets you anywhere from 1c to 5c off the advertised price. this INCLUDES premium and can be used at any IFS servo.
