one thing is for sure.... it's going to be stupid fast if you can maintain traction with it.

the problem with running a micro switch is that there is instant power which makes it harder to get the power to the ground.
it is also a good thing but finding the balance will take a shit load of runs.

the wow carpark would make a good test track due to the fine layer of dust making traction harder to get

Stupid fast is the idea what I was looking at is a duel stage microswitch system where first stage is say 6V and the 2nd stage is 11v kind of a crude 2 stage trorrle system they use in super gas drag racing.

Ill make up a heap of traction compound and spray a section of the carpark see if that helps.

one question though from a novis that dosnt know anything with the 11.1 V lipo batteries will that damage the motor or is it just like the more voltage you add the better it will go and realy it will only be on for 2 or 3 seconds im just unsure weather I should go with 7v or 11v LiPo batteries I dont want to cook motors all the time.

it's mainly your receiver and servos that will be affected by the voltage. you can get around it by running an external BEC.

there's guys in qld running 22.2v on their motors but brush life is very short

Brushes I can deal with they are cheep and easy to replace

Using a savox survo from tony's

you reckon the caster one will be strong enough for truck racing ?

you mob like to turn it into a demo derby at the first corner

Just save the cash and get one off these

There is a 7700kv combo system and on a 7.4v ,2 cell lipo will do 57,000rpm about a 5.5 turn brushed motor 2 cell max
And a 9000kv combo and on 7.4v ,2 cell will do 66,600rpm and is equivelent to a 2.5 to 3.turn brushed motor 2 cell max
The ESC are fully programable on all aspects on, ON power curve, timing, braking, lipo battery cut off and selection on voltage
Power curve setting very good for adjusting for traction and would be very handy for this type of racing.

A good metal geard 9 to 12kg one would be fine that's what most people are running

No worries will do, i may take the truck for a test lap tomorrow to test the 5.5t 6000kv motor either in the morning or late arvo.

Another question I am getting confused with LiPo batteries the voltage I can understand but what is all the mah and C ratings on the batteries obviously for a drag car I would want the smallest 3 cell I can get but what rating do I need I dont want to run out of current

incubus
Post #2154

mah is the capacity an the c rating is amps.

3 cells are 11.1v
5000mah is heaps and also heavy

for drag you'd be best off looking for something like a 40 - 50 C battery. something else to factor in is the burst C rating.
given the fact that the battery is only powering the motor for up to 3 seconds you can get away with a low mah pack which will keep the weight down.

something like this will work well
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/4xRC-Battery-3000mA...=item2308ab6bae

it's be a good idea to to make some sort of protective covering for the battery if it is a soft skin pack you use because this can happen

if it gets damaged.

you'll also need and low voltage cut off too if you're not running a brushless motor and esc

If anyone pick axes my lipos ill pick acxe them :mamoru:

But yes I think ill put it in a hard case just to be on the safe side just depends on the weight the car needs to be 1200 grams that is the min weight according to the Qld rules and its all adding up real quick.

I just picked up 2 2200mAh 40C (55C burst) 11.1v LiPo batteries from the US for $60aud ill be stuffed if I am going to buy anything from here its half the price on the net with the dollar the way it is.

HK is cheaper again. toyrota is the man when it comes to finding cheap batteries on the net
