Some info passed on from the organiser of the Time attack series, he stated that QR have re-conditioned the Surface and the track is currently no longer as quick, even went as far as stating that its basically time to reset the record books as most people will be slightly slower now, even if they are going their fastest. So for some people that maybe felt like they were going there hardest on the First Sprint day, well you possibly were, just getting a slower time due to Track conditions. And if your going quicker, well then you have nothing to worry about |

I assume the times will pick up as more rubber gets laid down and yah. |

yea I was pretty happy with my 1:18, only a couple of seconds slower than the porshe, I think the lack of horse power was a plus though. |

it has been re-conditioned and atm it is very very slippery, however it will be faster than it used to be. I was at the time attack day on tuesday and it nearly completely dryed out. Was able to get 10kph more exit speed on turn 1. it will be fast don't you worry about that. with a wet dipper and slippery due to water carried by cars through 4 and 5 on clubman i was able to do times under 1 second off my dry track times. |

I was looking to grab some Semi's in the near future and can't decide on what tyres I want to go with. I plan on using 15x6 rims, so was looking to go with a 195/50 or 55 profile. The options I am looking at (without finding out prices); Toyo R888, Dunlop D01J, Yokohama A048, Federal 595 or Bridgestone RE55S. Any advice on which is better than the others? I know the D01J and the RE55 are similar money going by the Amec and QR websites at the $300-330 mark and are pretty damn good tyres, but how do the other cheaper options compare lap time wise? |

Also, I see the HPR CRX is up for sale on my105.com I would go the Kuhmo V70A Ecsta over the Toyo R888 and Federal. The Yoko and Bridgestones are great tyres from what I have heard but haven't really had any experience with them... |

Might have a chat with Ivan and Rob as they have had experiences with just about all those tyres, but they generally run RE 55S's. And yes ... the CRX is up for sale |

as jamie said the advans are a great tyre. they are a bit $$$ though. used to run RE55 on saloon car now we are using a new Kuhmo V700 radial. and they are a great tyre in the dry. Can't really tell in the wet because of how slippery it is atm. |

If it is the Ecsta they are a pretty reasonable wet weather tyre - Not the best though. If you are using the Victor Racer (I don't think you are) They are a horrible wet weather tyre ![]() The medium compound V700 Ecsta (V70A) is slightly softer than the medium Compound R888 and the design of the tread IMO gives better lateral grip. They are pressure sensitive though but not too hard to sort out what pressure you should run in them. If you want to try the Kumho. Craig from Hornibrook Motorsport is the dealer for them in Queensland. His number is in my sig. |

Not sure which it is, but i had a lot of trouble in the wet on them. could be pressure settings though as it was the first time i have used them at all. Dry temp easy to get wet on the other hand i need a complete different car set up. |

QUOTE(mosport @ Feb 11 2008, 05:52 PM) harder tyre pressures in the wet ? I would have thought softer. Would probably need to be a bit harder as your not getting the same sort of heat into the tyres so need a bit more psi in them ? |

The reason for running higher pressures in the wet is partly what Pai Mai says, but mainly to reduce your contact patch to reduce the chance of aqua planing. |

i use about 31 PSI dry. works perfect. and in the wet there are 2 setups you can do with the car depending on time frame. Both ways mentioned are usable. So in summary, you guys recomend either; A048, RE55S or D01J. If they are similar prices to the D01J, I might as well go through QR since they give you track time to bed them in. I would only suggest A048's if you have the money as they are one of the more expensive tyres of the bunch. RE55S are about $300 a tyre, A048's are about $400-450 dunno about the dunlops as i have not used them.
