Is this your first time on the internet? It happens everytime you try and sell anything online. Best to just ignor it.

Thank you for the heads up, I've added '[email protected]' to our internal blacklist so that messages from that e-mail via our contact seller system will get blocked in future.

just right now i recieved a text requesting i email [email protected] about an ad on boost.

It came from the same number i've previously recieved spam text from about a boost classified before.

Thanks I'll take a look and see who viewed your mobile number (we keep extensive logs).

I might have to enforce people to be a registered user in order to view other mobile numbers (since being registered requires SMS validation).

Theory being that these people can send SMS's but not receive, similar to CarSales.

So, I've made an update to force people to register and/or login to view mobile numbers.

This follows suit with many other sites, so I'm hopeful this helps reduce the SMS scams received by sellers.

Hey guys.
Not a poster on here but I listed my car last night and just received a text very similar to the ones above asking for lowest price and email only.
Just thought I'd let you know.

Hi Joel,

Thank you for the notification, I'll dig into our logs and work out how it happened.

Thank you very much for the update, I've been able to identify a members account that retrieved your phone number on the site and they've now been suspended.

Mate, thanks for the response, i would have loved to call but due to bad weather our SATphone is scrambled. I want to buy it for my son who just graduated from curtins university, as a surprise gift, so let me know if i need to make any repair on it to make it be in perfect condition for my son. i want to be sure of its condition, i am a nurse for the Marine soldiers so we are currently off shore so please i will not be able to come for inspection now all i really need from you is the exact details. Due to the nature of my work i am a very busy woman working all day. will pay with the fastest and safest online payment "PayPal" or Bank transfer so i will need you to send me your paypal email address or bank details so i can effect the payment, as i have my bank a/c attached to my paypal account and i have upgraded my paypal account to business merchant account so it will not take me much time to make the payment you. i will be sending my shipping company to come and pick it up and make a personal delivery to my son, that will be after you must have received the money in your account.
PS: In case you don't have a PayPal account, Its reliable fast, secure and easy to use PayPal, all you need to do is to log on to visit and register with them. When you are done with the registration send me the email used for the registration with PayPal so i can make the payment. Please get back to me with your preferred payment details so i can make the payment asap, and i will appreciate if you can take the ad off thanks.

My thoughts...

SATPhones do not get scrambled…they either work or they do not. The SMS you sent me was clearly not from a SatPHONE.

The university is (I expect) "Curtin" not "Curtins" (or do you mean ‘curtains’)

I am an academic and students do not graduate at the start of the year. It is March/April or September/October.

You do not need a business merchant account to make PayPal payments…anyone can make a payment.

"My Shipping Company" and for a nurse in the marines! Wow. For a working woman who is busy all day!

If you type “Linda Jackson [email protected]” into Google it comes up with a scam warning.

A co(n)-incidence? Perhaps

I think not.

sambre - definitely a scam, ignore it!

Although, this site doesn't give out your email address under any circumstances, so I'm not sure how this person emailed you directly.

Did you respond to an SMS asking for your email address, or did you list your email address in the ad description?

If you could help me to work it out than I can help prevent it happening to others, thanks!
