So what do we think?
very interesting car in my books.
supposed to launch at 75k here, which makes it pretty much the only thing to consider if that's what you're spending as far as I'm concerned. Mid 4s to 60, made entirely out of CF (yes, a 75k carbon fiber car-I never thought I'd see THAT in my lifetime!) mid-engine RWD and apparently handles very sweetly.
Obvious competitors are the A45 AMG, S3, Z4, SLK350, 370z (maybe).
Also, most importantly, it looks like THIS:

Look everyone! 810 HP!

I think it looks amazing. I don't feel qualified enough to discuss the value for money / tech side of things BUT I'm sure, being an Alfa it will sound porn at full noise!!

holy shit, an alfa that i actually like the look of! never thought id see the day lol. looks very lotus like from side on, hint of porsche from the front, with a bit of ferrari all over IMO.

75k?! jesus christ, id very much consider that. would be hard to tempt me away from a 135i in that price range, but itd definitely come into consideration.

bit off topic but i havent been posting on here much and wow, its a bit of a wasteland around here these days isnt it? only like 4 topics with posts in the last 4 days....

Stuit, did you like the 8c supercar? It takes many design cues from that. Also... Are you seriously saying that that Brera/Spider are not good looking cars? Every time I see one (rarely) I am amazed that 8 years on they are still one of the best looking things on the road. Still glad I got rid of mine though lol.

nah i wasnt a fan of the brera styling myself, but i can see why others would like it. i actually dont mind the 8c, kinda looked like a throwback to supercars of old. i dont like its looks enough to ever consider buying one, not that i could ever afford it haha, but it was a big step in the right direction for my tastes.

interesting "cough hairdressers car cough" tongue.gif

would depend on the colour you go with, red tail lights are a bit crappy, and the wheels would definitely need to be changed.

other than that, it looks alright. bit of a mix of a lotus / peugot / Veyron / supra / Porsche styling cues imo.

wolfman101

Lol the wheels are one of my favourite bits! Pure classic Alfa.

I like it, any details about what is under the hood, or should I say, mid mounted?

That's the least exciting part. 240 hp turbo inline 4. The car ways under 900 kgs though, remember.

Actually it just occurred to me that the 4c is basically what the Toyobaru was supposed to be. A good looking, light, rwd, back to basics boosted runabout.

that is what the 86 is, apart from turbo, which i dont think it was every actually going to be. i cant imagine them not releasing a turbo one further down the track. the 86 was supposed to be cheap too though, something the alfa is not.

Loving the 4C. Apart from the fact it currently only comes as a dual clutch auto.... And some of the interior materials and design choices.

Oh I know there is a big price difference, but I feel that the 86 let the public (including me) down in all those areas. Too slow, too ugly, too bad sounding, too poorly finished inside... And too expensive as well. Wound up far more expensive than we'd been led to believe.
Will be more like 370z money, but at least it actually looks to deliver on every front... And in many respects is actually exceptionally cheap for what it is.

I should also add that for all that much touted 'handling feel', the 86 is actually not veru good on track. It was, in fact, actually engineered to be as bad in corners as possible, to please drifters. The 4c actually seems to be posting impressive lateral g numbers.

from the windscreen to the back window "cabin" reminds me of an Koenigsegg..

and if it sounds anything like the 8c, it will be epic.

Oh look! It's the new Lotu- oh..... I see....

wolfman101

Not really, but given how good Lotuses look these days, it's hard to see how that would be a bad thing...

dude that's just the tyres. The car's still engineered to handle properly.

wolfman101
Post #22

Whatever the reason, it still doesn't post times worth a damn. It did the TG test track about as fast as an Audi tt 2.0 ffs.
I don't think it can all be put down to tyres. Pretty sure a lot of fwd hatches also smash it around the track.

And didn't Dale change his user name or something?

this gen's S2000 i think with that price/looks/specs.

granted with more torque and less weight.. i hope they a sell a bucketload

wolfman101
Post #24

That is a damn good analogy. I hope they sell heaps too, but I think they are planning to keep production deliberately fairly low.

That is one of Alfas keepers that is for sure, I love some of the old styling cues mixed with the new. 240hp /900kgs not to shabby.

Full CF body, that with have the panel shops scratching their head for a repair.

Not bad. Don't usually like the styling of Alfas. This one looks good. Least it has a more realistic power figure than the 86.

As said above... very "Lotus" looking... Don't mind it though

Alfa Romeo "enthusiasts" will be all like 'this is such rubbish. Not even a true Alfa' lol.... It does look the part, and I think it will be in Jay Leno's garage by the way it looks...

It just occurred to me that I have no way of starting this reply with " It just occurred to me: sad.gif

I did read it but didn't think it answered any questions. It might be too slow, ugly, bad sounding to YOU.. but clearly not the majority of people otherwise I wouldn't see 3000 of them every day on the road and every workshop seems to have one as a demo / promo car.

You just can't compare these 2 cars cause they are not in the same league or built for the same buyer group.

370z you could though, similar price range, $72,000 rwd, 257kwts. I'l take the Alfa over it

But I'ld take the Lotus Evora over both.

$66,100 - $76,100
253 kwts
1300 killows

1300kg lotus is a travesty. nice car still, but the alfa is more lotus than the lotus at 900kg haha. they should swap badges lol

Cant believe im saying this... but the Alfa looks better then that Lotus huh.gif

If you did in fact read my post you would have seen that the 370z was in fact the car that I compared it to price wise.
As for the Evora (which I have also already referenced in this thread),

I am a massive fan,
But only of the S.

The normal one is just too slow.

The S is twice the price of the 4c though...

Not really a good comparison.

The Evora S offers similar performance,
but is double the price... And doesn't look as good, inside or out.

And for the record,
Toyobarus are everywhere for the same reason Wiis are.
They are cheap (though still expensive for what you get).

vid clicky

Pretty good vid, and if the price is what they say it is then it will sell well. But I bet by the time you get it on the road it will be more like 85k.
