hey folks, just wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the legality (if any) of stickers on your windscreen and back screen? i have seen alot of cars getting round but just the other day my mate got pulled up and fined for having a ECC sticker on the bottom of his windscreen.

are they all illegal or just ones on the front windscreen?

ned to know if i have to take mine off which is running down the left hand side of my windscreen.

cheers

i think if they are in the field of view for the driver they are, same if they can be seen through the rear view mirror ..

some thing about wipers touching sticker or deemed in line of site

I'm pretty sure they're fine as long as your wiper doesnt touch them - while they're "wiping" tongue.gif

It's gotta be above where the tinting at the top of the windscreen finishes. As for the rear window, I'm not sure. I'm sure they could fine you for having restricted vision. But then again, legally, as far as I know, you don't HAVE to have a rear view mirror. Just side mirrors.

not 100% sure, but i think you may find any sticker apart from your rego stick on glass is illegal, dont hold me to it tho, cant be fucked checking it out.

As long as your wipers dont touch them and with the back window they are fine aslong as you can still see out the back...

Ok Clear some stuff up. Your wipers cannot touch any part of the sticker, if they are on the front and are underneath the wipers, then they cant restrict the drivers view or provide glare at all. As for the rear windows if you have TWO side mirrors one on each side (for the dumb ones) then you can plaster the rear all you like.

As long as there is no more than a 10/15% visibility loss than it is fine.

However tint + sticker = you + defect - points - money

for the rear window i believe u can loose 50% of visibility
in saying that u can checker the whole back windscreens in squares and be leagal as long as 50% is still visible though

and i thought the front was 100mm from the top is ok and 100mm fromt he bottom is ok... ?

Actually its 35%, falls under the same regs as window tint.

Will be going to transport department and coomera police trafic division some time this week. Will be finding out exactly what the law is as i have also been told if you push you sun visor all the way forward till it touches your windscreen and the point of touch back is deemed "not in" the line of sight, so from this point back is ok.
But like I said will check out and let everyone know the exact ruleing of this.
The highrollers stickers are 100mm and do touch windscreen wipers, and I have had a few club members defected for this.
But then again, having a sticker isnt like selling drugs or commiting murder.
Revenue collecting... oh the shame of it.

If you ask 50 different cops and transport officers regarding this issue....
Every single one will give you a different rule.

I Make stickers... so im forever asking them.... for shits and giggles, and just to see how varied their responses are.... as most probably dont even know the laws regarding them. and will fine you accordingly at discretion.

This has been some of their responses...............

"Not allowed any stickers at all"

"All Stickers are allowed, as long as they arent Chrome and shiny"

"No Touching the Front Wipers"

"As long as they arent thick sticker material, they can go where your wipers go, thats fine. But no thick stuff, or your wipers wont work properly.

"No more than 40mm down from the top on the front screen"

"No more than 130mm down from the top of the front screen"

"errr im not sure mate"

Cops......"um you'll have to enquire with QLD transport for rules

Transport Dept......"um you'll have to enquire with traffic Police for rules

"Windscreen Banner is fine mate, as it doesnt block as much vision as where your actual sun visor would sit"

"No Stickers on the rear screen"

"No stickers on the rear if it touches the rear wiper (if you have a wiper)

"As Long as you can still see out, It cant be a completely solid sticker , Normal vinyl stickers are fine as they have cut outs in them"

"Providing you have 2 side mirrors, you can paint your back window"

"As long as they arent blocking your direct view, you can have them wherever mate."

"The Huge bottom sticker can stay, but the sun viser / windscreen banner strip will have to go"

"Windscreen Banner is wayyy too big mate...*Gets cop to sit in car* now...and pulls down the factory sunvisor, your vision loss is from half way up the screen right *YEP*. The windscreen banner sits half like 20cm above where the factory sunvisor sits *Oh* shit hey... nah your right mate, it just looks decieving from the outside. On your way

And thats not even a tenth of the responses over the years.

some people will get done for a playboy bunny the size of a 50c piece, on the back window, others will never ever even get looked at for having every window almost solidly filled with stickers.

its all the cops discretion, same as most of the time.
