Would of came and said hi if there weren't so many alfa drivers to choose from tongue.gif

Haha. I saw your car parked there, wondered where you were.

I was wearing a white Alfa shirt and brown/yellow/red racesuit in the grey/green 75.

And any damage 57ING?

damn i had the best day... the sprints own drag racing I LOVED IT
i got it down to 66.49 today with the car in full street mode on my fedral 595's
which i am very happy with considering it was my first every time on the track
now it is time for some semis and setting the suspension up for it
nothing beats hitting 200kph 22 time in one day, money well spent

how did everyone go??? I finally managed to drop into the 65's...biggrin.gif

How did the Monaro fare? I was at the other end waiting for my turn when it decided to reverse into the wall (is that what happened???) hopefully no one has any expensive repairs...

I wasn't too happy with my times, I expected better of myself. It was certainly way to busy on the track though.

On the plus side, I had a racing suit donated to me for free, and the car ran flawlessly.

And yes that was me waving at you as I left Jamie wink.gif

Was a tough day. First time out since December and I did 61s but drove like a bag of crap - getting in the way, running wide on the tighter turns because the brakes were playing up really bad. I copped an official warning for doing a burnout towards the end of pit lane. hsnono.gif I then forfeited my 2nd run because an orange Torana decided to continue spraying oil down on the racing line all the way around and on the warm up lap I could already feel my tyres wearing it. Smart guy, thanks for that. Did that plume of smoke surrounding your car early in the straight tell you anything?! Topped the day off with an unexplainable oil leak of my own and had to withdraw from the final run of the sprints and TopGear tomorrow. head_wall.gif

Sting managed to hit some tyres and damage his front Right Guard, but not massive damage. at least it looked good doing it lol!

Was a good smooth running day, the only complaint is they have too many cars in one group now but I guess its still better than having less cars and more groups otherwise we wont get 4 runs. We set a new PB today but yet so painful! 57.07 we so desperately wanted to join the 56 sec club... OH well next time smile.gif

Wasn't so great for me today. I had semi-slicks on the front and street tyres in the rear, so was battling an oversteering car all day which meant lots of fun but not very quick times. I will have to see if I can get some fresh semi-slicks for the next time I go out.

*edit - Oh and my best time was a 66.85 which is a little off my PB.

The track was treating me well with a PB of 66.23s. Still more setup work to be had, and new tyres.

I ran a new PB of 57.5 on the oldest set of semi's i had in the garage so still more in it, would also like to join the 56 sec club, may be on the 23rd, was a good day out just a few to many cars in the groups.

thumbsup.gif congrats to Ivan & co almost getting into the 56's, skip the lunch, lean the fuel tank right out & you guys are there.

I too was very surprised when he continued on despite the smoke. And copped it in Turn 1 being in the next group dry.gif

As for group size, I don't know, I'd prefer less cars and more groups - at least you have room to work and don't spend the whole session negotiating traffic.

Stalking !!! ohmy.gif

Nice times guys thumbsup.gif

Would be interesting to hear what happened to FLEET's 300zx at the end of the day unsure.gif

jezza323
Post #645

Fleet's gearbox decided to eat itself sad.gif but considering his power output i think it has lasted him quite well!

i managed a "usual" time for myself of 66.39, that makes about 5 sprints in a row with times between 65.9 and 66.6, i dont think i can go any faster without learning to drive better or more power. im still quite happy that i managed 66 secs with the power i have, so now i can start working on getting some more power wink.gif

my shorter diff ratio means i can no longer use 2nd in the tight areas, which slowed me down a little bit, but the acceleration on the straight was much better, i gained a few kph there. once i sort out some more power (which also means more RPM, maybe 1500-2000 more RPM) i think 2nd will be ok again

oh, and the LSD makes the inside tyre whine like a bitch on the tight corners laugh.gif

all in all i am not too happy with the times, but i am happy with the day, getting used to the changes in my car and how it is different to drive.

see some of you guys out there on the 22nd smile.gif

Hhahaha, shit yeah, we watched the footage last night, piss funny. Just the drivers side guard got damage, rest is all good.

On a bad note, smashed the box, 6-speeds are shithouse.

Still manage a 65 though so I won the bet notherless.

I tell you what it's addictive, all I want to do now is put in a 5-speed and get straight back out there.

Thanks for the pic. I had an awesome day and set a new PB of 62.97. I don't think there's any more in it until I get a fresh set of tyres.

Also had a great battle with the SR powered 1600.

Was a good day for my second sprint day, ran a 62.7 on street tyres. Federals up front and no names on the rear. Car was having a lot of problems so i can still see a 61 easily in reach on the street tyres once i fix a few problems. Once i get my 61 on street tyres, i'll look at slicks. Traffic was quite a problem. These days are gaining a lot of interest.

It would have been the fourth session... the groups were quite a bit smaller biggrin.gif

Guido
Post #659

Yeah, that vid was the fourth session. Not sure how many people were out on the track with us at the time, neither of us cared!! But traffic was quite the problem for the other sessions.

Before too long, they will have to make it an all day event just to cope with all the cars that are now competing.

I think the long break was/is the main issue. There hasn't been a session for two months, most people have tuned and tweaked something and eager to try it out, so they all converge on August. I was in the office at 10:15am registering and they'd closed all new entries - So basically it was full through pre-entries.

Bring on September!

When is the next session and how much is it?

What is required in the car? I've got a new helmet so I can come driving and am tempted to check it out.

Rookie ROX
Post #663

Pre Entry is an easy $90.

AASA licence is $55 - It's valid for 12 months - You can also buy a day licence is you want.

Helmet that meets the ADR standards is a requirement (AS 1698). They can be hired for $5, but that's obviously not an issue.

The remaining safety equipment is your discretion. Long pants and shirt required, racing suits optional, harness optional, fire extinguisher optional (but recommended) etc

Edit: Oh, and Sat 15 September is the next one, or 22 August if you prefer a Wednesday Afternoon session.

AASA? Will my Cams National Rally license suffice or do we need another license?
